Tried and failed this week during the “Dry Week” venture...upon some self reflection, will return to kicking ass shortly...many blessings for those who fight battles, big and small, in day to day matters...
Keep fighting, stealing and drinking...
Me too. Losing my dad had something to do with that.
Also, you should do a tribe episode at Huber's/Starlight. Worth the trip.
We've been big fans of the Huber's and Starlight for years. Their whiskies are gonna amaze a lot of people. Glad to see them finally getting the recognition they deserve.
When he said Panda Express, my jaw dropped! I was thinking the same thing, but never thought he would say the same!!
I took a trip to the Starlight distillery last week on a trip to Kentucky as it is only a half hour from Louisville.I was expected typical "meh" craft whiskey, but was pleasantly surprised by everything I tried there. They do make a malt whiskey out of peachwood smoked malt that was excellent as well as a bourbon that was finished in Glendronach barrels.
I was there at the beginning of Oct. I am so blown away by everything they do. Absolutely amazing distillery!
We were there the day they were filtering the Peach wood smoked Single Malt. It is unique and phenomenal.
@@johnrosenbalm8645 I tasted that from the barrel. It was really good. The apple wood was also really good.
Just did the same thing this morning, picked up four bottles and wow, better than anything I picked up in Kentucky.
I must be the only one that didn't like it 🤣
I live in about 30mins away from Huber's, and love their wine. This shtuff has taken a permanent place on my bar
Starlight is one of the best "craft" distillers, period. Great family, cool location.
The higher proof whiskeys are much better. The cask rye is amazing
Their Cigar Batch blew my mind
Starlight is the best thing my lips have ever witnessed!
I have a bottle of Starlight Double Oak SP (Store Pick) and it is AMAZING. I went to Huber Winery many times when I lived in Kentucky, the fruit wines are great. They have an events center, farm store, the fudge and ice cream is delicious.
The port finish is aged in Huber's Knobstone Reserve Barrels. They also make a Ruby Port as well.
I feel like The Mooch™ is slipping as of late - his greed is getting the best of him and we're seeing a fall from grace. Yesterday he was questioning the motives behind a donation. Today, while Daniel searched in earnest for a donation, he distracted him with intent (malice?), almost preventing his own moochitude of said bottle. What next? Maybe he'll start buying his own bottles and giving them to the vault, warmly and kindly saying "No Daniel, I don't think I want any - it's all yours".
As for the reviews - there's something magical about watching a distillery crank out genuinely impressive things. Especially when you compare and contrast multiple bottles and see where they're knocking it out of the park vs. where they're "just" putting out well executed product. Great stuff as always - killer way to kick off dry week.
Everyone should start drinking everytime rex stretches and we see his belly button.
how quickly can we have too much to drink lol
well, not this next week.
I dont feel like a hospital visit....
Do you want alcohol poisoning?
@@ericparham1086 lol
So I've had 3 dry weeks already as I was sick and had no energy for 3 weeks.
Now I've just had my Night Shift and I don't drink then, and now I will take another one as overtime so I am full of dry weeks.
And after my three sick weeks, I am finding so much new stuff in every whiskey that I never found even after a normal dry week.
Good morning, mb's, I wish all of you enjoy a great weekend and better whiskeys.
Difference between the first two vs the the rest is single barrel vs batch blended. Big red liquors picks are solid. Ive done 10 barrels with them so far between 2 liquor stores. By far my favorite Distillery. Their cigar batch is absolutely amazing must try.
Starlight single barrel Rickhouse select! One of my two favorite, and often number one for me.
The best cup of tea in the world is Yorkshire tea. Watch the advert with Sean bean. Yorkshire tea gold is magic
Rex is 100% correct. Panda Express tea is wonderful.
Fancy Dan is always on his game. Keep up the great work!
I have a malt whiskey from them aged in peach sherry casks. Damn good drink! Cant wait for their big estate release for this year. Their oldest barrels yet.
That bottle lord song they sing gets stuck in my head all damn day after I hear it , lmfao so funny 😄
At some point Piero Umiliani's estate will come looking for royalties.
I have a bottle out of that same barrel Daniel loves. Yes it is that good.
I live in Indiana so their standard straight bourbon is my go to bourbon. I personally really like it on the rocks. If you get the chance it's definitely worth the 30 or so dollars for a bottle of it.
I live about 20 mins from Starlight distillery and I’m apart of their distillers club. Their stuff is so good.
Found you all recently, thanks Covid for making me just scan the ole CZcamss, and love the shenanigans and all the whiskey's y'all sample. But wow, how do you all find these flavors in the whiskeys?? Apparently I need to eat a lot more fruits and candies to be able to pick more flavors out of my whiskey explorations. Maybe I'm just not drinking them correctly?? Anyway, gonna keep trying and keep up the great work!
Keep at it, it takes a while! Some people will make it sound like it comes quick, but it took me about a year for all of the flavors to suddenly start appearing. It's worth the wait.
They have a video about it. I do too, I just haven’t edited it yet 🤣
That's actually one of things I've found about trying to find flavors in whisk(e)y - I want to try more fruits and other things that I normally won't just to see if I'm actually tasting something in there or it's just my imagination. You also won't be able to taste something in whisk(e)y that you wouldn't already be able to recognize, especially if it's subtle. Flavors in spirits are often as much about having a reference point as they are about what's chemically in the spirit.
Don't dip your toe in the pool, dive right in! I have been diggin' diving right in to taste before nose! It creates a different experience with familiar whiskys. Change things up; like a good ol' Grateful Dead Show, thwarting expectations is the name of the game.
Rex was channeling The Cat in the Hat today.
As I'm about to go to bed I'm whatching Daniel saying 2 times "GOOD NIGHT! Thats good whisky! " - never eared this expression xD good Night and thats for the vídeo!
Unfortunately our family got the Rona (A Rex term). Luckily the only symptoms I had was loss of taste and smell. I have been on a two week dry week as it is pointless to drink whiskey you can not smell or taste. I am just now getting my taste and smell back and it will be interesting if the Rona changes my notes of the whiskeys I have. Cheers you MB.
Thank the whisky gods you did not get hit worse.
Good health and long life to you magnificent bastard. 🍻
Same here, I was Covid free for a whole week and then I got sick again 😂 haven’t tasted any whiskey in almost a month. Looking at my unopened Blanton’s longingly, waiting for the day my taste returns
happy rwf the 13th!
bring it!
Starlight is my fav!
Their wine is top notch too.....
You guys should do a yearly list of your favorite bottle for each category of whisky that year!
Every time my cat walks in when the Patron Saint bit comes on he just stops, stares at it for a sec, & then looks at me a bit confused.
I have their rye but haven't tried any of their bourbons yet. They make some very good brandies, I really like the peach and the apple BiB.
Beautiful recommendations! Thanks for the tips!!
50 out of 52 weeks for me are dry weeks, yet I watch every one of the videos posted. Haha
The Canterbury Tales is in Middle, not Old English.
I was wondering if I was the only one who caught that.
Panda Express tea really is amazing
I always like watching y'all's videos
Have fun wit your dry week MBs, I have already done mine a week ahead of schedule ^^
I went and got out my Starlight BRL bottle in Bond sherry bourbon... very tasty
Well sipping sherry finished that hit my local Big Red their latest pick at 54.4% 108.8 and it's pretty good so far at least in my opinion.
The Port finished whiskey is finished in ruby port barrels and absolutely blows away Angel's Envy. You guys need to get your hands on a bottle of their Double Oaked bourbon, which holds its own against Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. And the name is pronounced HYOO-ber.
Almond Rocha, Oh you mean the cat turds from the litter box wapped in foil?
I don’t want to know how your were able to make that comparison in the taste.😵🤢🤮
@@Charlesb88 Who said anything about making taste comparisons? Visually.
That's ferrero roche right?
@@fcukyou2_ nah different critter. Almond Rocha is made by Brown & Healey in Washington,. might not be a big thing on the east coast but christmas time, a lot of market share in the west.
@@rossfudd256 yeah never even heard of those

Jedi mind tricks
If you ever need to remind yourself of what licorice tastes like, find the nearest ballpoint pen (without a rubber grip), stick it in your nose, and sniff as hard as you can.
Legitimately laughed out loud at this
@@zewhiskeymeizzer9467 That's the best way I could ever describe it to someone who's never had it before. It tastes like an ink well or a cheap ballpoint pen smells, and it isn't much different from licking a pen tip.
Respect to the dry week participants. Me, I only drink on weekends, so I'm not personally participating. I take 4 to 5 days off every week as it is.
The Laphroaig made it to dry week!
Y’all are just touching the tip of the iceberg with the offerings before you. There’s a French Double Oaked, peach brandy finished bourbon, apple brandy finished rye, maple finished, scotch finished, indigenous rye and yes they have a malt! It’s a rabbit hole, that’s for sure. Cheers guys!
I suppose we will be titans when you get to the Old 55 "100% Sweet Corn Mashbill Bourbon" interested to see what you all think about that.
I was hoping you sent one of those! Looking forward to that!
Your a true M.B of whisky.
I say lets push it as a title of a university
How far is their distribution route or are they ship only if like to try the three you liked I prefer higher proof whisky.
Can we all just agree that college students and active military can't be dependent on alcohol, it's what fuels us. haha *starts to sweat* Best I can give you is while asleep and/or at work.
Guess who is making a playlist of Indiana whiskeys for future road trips.
Soooo, where can you order Starlight online if you don't live in Indiana?

GOOD MORNING YOU MB'S...
sad because the HOBBIT FORGOT TO TWIRL 💃 ... dance hobbit dance... lol
_Looks like meat's back on the menu boys_
Panda Express is tea is definitely on point 👌🏻
I just purchased a bottle of Balcones Texas Pot Still Bourbon, Im a novice with bourbon but I find an overwhelming taste of burnt tire. Can you all tell me is this a tasting note for this bottle?
If you guys can review Belfour Rye and bourbon, that would be great! They are very interesting whiskies and though they aren't my favorite, they still have very interesting qualities.
Can you try the milk and honey elements? M&h are the first Israeli whiskey and they are kind of interesting
Are barrels rotated (spun, revolved, rolled) during aging? Can/are they be continuously rolled during the aging process? What affects could occur? Has it been done?
Shout out big red!
Have you guys ever done a video for William Wolf burbon?
You guys are so hilarious
Pronounced Hugh-ber. Not that Daniel usually cares... lol
Have a great week guys and Tribe. I stocked up on tea, how about you?
Turned 20 so I can finally start to buy whiksey, first bottel I both is anchor 10 yo peated edition, and I love it, so have you guys any suggestions for me for whsikeys i should try out :)
Thanks and cheers from Norway
What is a whiskey and a whiskey from ocean 11? Can you make a video on it?
Hey y’all! I really enjoy Coopers Craft Barrel Reserve. I especially like that I get an herbal spice with some pepper and oak. That being said, are there any bourbons you all would recommend based on this? Thanks!!
They start dry week on Friday the 13th in 2020...
Cherry, I get cherry on a lot of their bourbons
"Talent for short-term memorization"..."SHORT" term...And Rex missed the chance.
Good Morning Gentlemen
Me: turn out the lights
Alexa,siri,google: say my name bitch.
How long does it usually take for the application to be accepted for the whiskey tribe?
They are processed on Wednesday evenings around 4pm Texas time.
🥃
I don’t think I can make through dry day. Lmao
Good challenge
Dry Week on my week off (Holiday) NO CHANCE!!!!
Amen to the Panda's Passionfruit Iced Tea! Soooooo goooood!!!
Canterbury Tales were in Middle not Old English.
Here's some trivia for you: Gevalia is from the same Swedish town as Mackmyra Whisky
I want a T-Shirt with the "ocean of bitches" quote on it.
I've got a few bottles that I've collected now, how do I get over the feeling of not wanting to open them 😅
Drink it
More Indiana whiskey 😁😁😁
Disappointed that Fancy Dan didn't correct Daniel on the language of the Canterbury Tales: it's Middle English not Old English.
I get so spoiled living 15 minuets from Starlight lol
Everyone went out and bought the dewars ilegal and now good luck finding starlight after this lol
What qualifies one to become a Bottle Lord?
sorry guys. Job, family, and politics dictates I will not be joining in dry week this time. I wish you luck!
Did Rex forget the opening, or was he creating an opening for Daniel to SWOOP in like a @#$%ing hero and save the day? Which he didn't.
He probably just forgot. Rex doesn't give opportunities. He barely gives a @#$%.
So what was the proof of that rye?
I was hoping Dan would put it in the video
He read the wrong label I believe
I started dry week early because my birthday is on the 19th.
yo for some reason ever since i dabbled into the cast strength whiskey almost every whiskey that like 50% abv or less taste watered down. i also do dry weeks when its not dry week to reset my palete and they still taste watered down :( any help will be appreciated. for example the last cast strength i tried was Aberlour A' Bunadh 59.9 abv
Anybody have a bottle of that bottled in bond sherry? I would love to try it. I also lived in Louisville for a year and a half and visited the orchard.
"Whan that Aprill with its shoures soote
The droughte of March hath pierced to the roote
And bathed every veyne in swich liquor
Of which virtu engendered is the flour . . . "
That's all I've got (and my spelling is probably off). But for goodness's sake: Chaucer's is Middle English, not Old English!
Old English looks like this:
Hwæt! We Gardena in geardagum,
þeodcyninga, þrym gefrunon,
hu ða æþelingas ellen fremedon.
(Opening lines of Beowulf)
Ok, I have to ask. Being Greek and not American, am I the only who has to stop every video, every time they mention a tasting note, because I have no idea what they are talking about?😅 Like, the moment I googled Panda Express and went back to the video I had to stop it again to google almond roca 😂
Need to hold on to that name son of all the bitches for something really special you guys make
5th lol good morning mb's
