@@saulpina683 what I would recommend would vary depending on the person, because people should tailor their own expectations and they have different tastes, and a lot of knife makers follow 'trends' that appeal to some customers versus others. For US made products I personally like Kershaw/Spyderco/Cold Steel All those brands have chinese made knives so I am referring to their american-made models only. If US-made doesn't matter to you then the world is your oyster. Fixed blades don't really get better with $ spent versus utility so I'd recommend Morakniv(swedish) or Hultafors for beater fixed knives. For folding knives if you don't care about chinese made than brands like civivi/cjrb are alright, and if you want cheap pure chinese stuff than SRM(sanrenmu) and Ganzo make good value brands. I will also say that cold steel (pre buyout, not sure now) always made the toughest folders of anybody else on the market for the $, if that is something that you need. Their taiwanese made stuff is, surprisingly good. I will state that I prefer supporting domestic US products more than anything though, but I personally have a soft spot for cheap morakniv swedish knives. I really like some spyderco knives but their cottage prices and markup for the name are getting even worse the last few years and they've always been kind of steep. I do like Kershaws, the non-tactical looking ones, anyway
I EDC my mini grip and I just bought my son a mini grip for his upcoming birthday and I also bought the full size griptilian limited edition the other day
@shannondosher1270 Originally, I had the mini, but it was too small for my hands, so I sold it and got the full size. Both great knives for different sized hands.
No pocketknife is more comfortable to use imo. I wish they made a fixed blade version. Same blade length, same contoured handle shape, just a full tang fixed blade.

@Peter Steinle it is different, but I like it. No need to put effort into liking it. If it's not your thing, the bugout has a more normal shape, but it doesn't have as slim of a profile as the 940
@Peter Steinle or there's another favorite of mine that I want someday. The bailout. I like tanto blades, and the scales are so thin it's unbelievable, but still comfortable in the hand

@@Monsoonpain The Super Freek is the Benchmade that makes me still like Benchmade. Mine, after some lube and adjustment, has been awesome for like 4 or 5 years now.
Its good when you switch scales and screws and all stuff except the blade. 😅 I got the grey one and I hated it but got it for a good price. Then changed to cheap scales (metal) from amazon and new green screws, thumbstud and now just waiting for the brass backspacer to get available.

Claymore user here, had the APB but unfortunately lost it a few months ago and since it’s discontinued I had to swap. Love it and it’s way snappier than I would’ve expected
For the last 5 years, my daily companion has been the Benchmade Freek. I picked it up in the knife shop and loved the way it fit my hand. It works like a charm, I can draw it, flip out the blade, cut what I need to and fold it up with just one hand whenever I need to, fast!
Is that with m4 steel? I might be mistaken but I saw one for sale locally and I picked it up to check it out and it felt pretty solid, I just wasn’t sure about the m4 and was a bit hesitant on the price.
Personally I prefer the Adamas in its fixed form, if I’m gonna have something that heavy duty I don’t want it to have any weaknesses in its construction at all.
Gotta disagree on that one, I think it’s great as a folding knife. I’ve BEATEN on mine for years in the outdoors of Montana and it’s still mint condition. Very sturdy in both forms
I’m so upset, I tried to buy that 940 for the longest time, I waited, I save my money, I made sure it was exactly what I wanted in a knife and more. Then, the day I was ready to buy it, I looked back on the website, and it said discontinued or out of stock or something I could not order it. I was kind of upset, however, then I changed my mind and bought a para 3 with glow rhino scales, and a lynch clip for like the same price as a stock Osborne. I do love me a good Spyderco 🥰🥰
@@bigboredom5800 both good knives no doubt. but when i hike with my dog deep in the forest, i always think to myself " if i encounter a cougar, which knife would i feel more confident with if i ever encountered a scary situation like that?" pm2 just felt right. even tho its uglier than the bugout. because the bugout looks way nicer than the pm2. but the pm2 feels way superior. and the shape of it grows on you over time. and its fidgety as hell

I would’ve put the griptilian on the list, but I guess there was already one that was really similar. Personally I carry a 940-1702 which is a 940 with g10 scales, but in the same green and purple color way as the original aluminum 940. My dad’s griptilian is way more comfortable to use, but the 940 is famous for being so easy to carry you forget it is there until you need it (and after 6 years I can say it lives up to the reputation). Also, the ghost g10 on that variant of the 940-2 is very sexy. I wish I could just order the scales.

Got the 940 Osborne last Tuesday/Wednesday and just ordered the mini Adamas las Friday, it’s supposed to be in today or tomorrow. Can’t wait to get the Adamas in my hands. It’s such a beautiful knife. These are also my first two benchmades

I have the upgraded 20cv mini Griptilian the one with the light gray G10 and blue accents... one of my favorite non-sentimental knives in my collection
Only one i could carry is the raghorn, since folders that can be opened with one hand are for some really dumb reason illegal to carry in germany. That’s because „they are so easy to conceal“ but a fixed blade is as easy to conceal if you carry it on the inside of your belt. And on top of it all your fixed blade can have a blade length of up to 12 centimeters, which is more than enough to literally unalive people with only one or two good placed stabs.
The best knives are the 940 M4 and Manix 2 imo, for Budget def Crkt Fossil, 940 M4 is the best bang for your buck, and Manix is Robust yet comfortable in hand and fidgety

Maybe I got lucky but my bugout only cost $140 which is identical to the para 3 LW. I can’t say which is better bc I haven’t had that spyderco but they are the same price

@@bigboredom5800 Dang that's pretty good. That's on the low side for a benchmade, you got a nice deal there. My para 2 was $180 and as much as I love my 940-1, it's hard to justify them being the same price at the respective times I got them. Still love them both though
I have a drawer full of knives and the only one i carry asa welder and mechanic for the last 8 years is a sheepsfoot griptilian. I used to go through knives like crazy and now i dont even think about it. I recently purchased a bugout for when i wear soft shorts, the Grip gets alittle heavy on a run.
The Osborne and adamas r both awesome but I unfortunately don't have either. I have the bugout and mini bugout and I personally like the mini better, it gets used literally everyday

I had the bug out but stopped carrying it because of how thin it was. I was always worried I would mess up the blade. I now carry a CRKT but am planning on going back to a bench made. I also would like to start carrying a leather-man again. Especially when I am at work as a diesel mechanic it would come in handy when In tight spots and you need a set of pliers or a knife.
What about a griptilian with G10 handles? I have and I love it even though it comes with different scales making the upgrade to G10 is the best for the griptilian
I was looking to buy the Osborne mini or the bugout or bugout mini but I gave up when I handled them and found out they weren’t fully spring assisted, one that I really like is the barrage for that reason, the very easy spring assist, easy to open with one hand, and I like that blade type, but the one thing I wish the handle gripped more, it’s too slick. Do they make them in different handles? Or maybe there’s another knife with the same or similar blade and spring assist but a better handle?
The bugout is so flimsy unless you get the g10 or aluminum scales. I don't know what Benchmade was thinking making a knife that weak in the handle and then encouraging people to take it camping presumably to be beat on.
Have had my Adamas folder since 2013 and it’s money. Scratched all to hell but still 100%. Picked up an Osborne last Christmas, not as beefy but it’s not supposed to be.
It's been around for so long, they probably feel like it's been played out. I agree with you though. It is still the 1st knife I recommend if anyone asks what knife to buy.

I’ve owned 5 different models and the Super Freek is my favorite, hands down. I also purchased all of mine prior to BM’s insane prices.
The Freek may be the only Benchmade product I buy this year. I own a Griptillian and Osbourne...the rest of the line up is overpriced

@@John5.56 Yeah M4. I like it, never had a problem with it. The rubberized grip has gotten a might worn over the years, but only at the edges.

Been buying the drop point on ebays. Got 3 of them.. The Px still carries the Tanto, I bought one and about to buy a second one. Great knives.

I have that Osborn with the Cpm m4 steel. It’s unparalleled by anything. Only thing I wish was different is the scales. Would prefer aluminum over g10

I was looking to buy the Osborne mini or the bugout or bugout mini but I gave up when I handled them and found out they weren’t fully spring assisted, one that I really like is the barrage for that reason, the very easy spring assist, easy to open with one hand, and I like that blade type, but the one thing I wish the handle gripped more, it’s too slick. Do they make them in different handles? Or maybe there’s another knife with the same or similar blade and spring assist but a better handle?
Would anyone say the Redoubt tho?... I think you'd almost unanimously hear Griptillian should be in over Redoubt
Is the full size Griptilian still available? I have one of the first ever available. It absolutely crushes the Bugout.
The bugout is so flimsy unless you get the g10 or aluminum scales. I don't know what Benchmade was thinking making a knife that weak in the handle and then encouraging people to take it camping presumably to be beat on.
The CF-Elite handles are plenty rigid. Better than that flexible FRN/GRN polymer.

I have 3 Osborne's, and 2 bug outs. The bug out is by far the best edc, but the Osborne is the sexiest!

Have had my Adamas folder since 2013 and it’s money. Scratched all to hell but still 100%. Picked up an Osborne last Christmas, not as beefy but it’s not supposed to be.

It's been around for so long, they probably feel like it's been played out. I agree with you though. It is still the 1st knife I recommend if anyone asks what knife to buy.
