  • Alberto Monnar M.Mus, B.A is a Cuban-American freelance composer, songwriter, lyricist, instrumentalist, music arranger, and vocalist.
    He was born in Miami, Florida. Monnar's interest in music began during his early childhood years before elementary school. In the beginning, music was only a hobby to him. He began to play the piano at the age of 6, and at the age of 12, he started to play the soprano saxophone. At 15, he started to sing. Monnar participated in music classes at Charles D. Wyche Jr. Elementary School as a student, and his interest in music developed.
    At the age of 10, Monnar started to delve into music composition. Monnar's first composition was a song for recorder which he composed during elementary school. After which, his next song was a short march called "Soldier's March". After this, he wrote ballads for the soprano saxophone. Over time, he started to delve into genres, such as jazz, adult contemporary pop, latin, and classical music in both English and Spanish. He has also went on to write lyrics in the pop and latin music genres.
    Monnar participated in the Hialeah Middle School symphonic band playing the alto saxophone, and the jazz band playing both the alto and the soprano saxophone. Monnar attended American Senior High School where he participated in the marching band and symphonic band playing the alto saxophone. Monnar transferred to, and graduated from Miami Lakes Educational Center (magnet high school), with a Music Technology And Sound Engineering certificate. Monnar participated in various talent shows at Miami Lakes Educational Center including "Coffeehouse", and "15 Minutes Of Fame".
    Monnar holds an Associate in Arts degree, and holds an Associate in Science degree in Education from Miami Dade College. Monnar holds a Bachelor Of Music degree in Music Theory And Composition from New World School Of The Arts (partnership between Miami Dade College, and University Of Florida), a Master of Music degree in Composition, a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish degree, and a Bachelor of Arts in English (Writing and Rhetoric) from Florida International University. Monnar has a college credit certificate in General Business from Miami Dade College.
    Monnar served as a graduate teaching assistant for the FIU School Of Music under the direction of bassist Mr. Luis Gomez Imbert, and music theorist, Dr. Joel Galand. Monnar served as a band director's assistant/intern at Hialeah Gardens Middle School during his studies at New World School Of The Arts, and prior to becoming a substitute teacher for Miami Dade County Public Schools.
    Monnar has served as both a substitute teacher and a music teacher for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Monnar is a music teacher for Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
