Woodturning a Christmas Lantern

  • It's cold at this time of year and I guess we're all looking for some kind of light to warm the darkness. In the wood pile, I found a piece of walnut that I had coppiced from our tree in the autumn. I thought it would be interesting to try and make a mid-winter lantern. I hope you enjoy the video (even if it's warm where you are!) and a Merry Christmas to you and yours .

It's a beauty! I'd consider an LED lamp instead of the candles. Get one that flickers and get a similar effect. Merry Christmas--hope you have a happy and safe celebration.

Those walls are really thin Jon.
Perhaps a bit prone to catch fire with those candles but otherwise great work!

Hi Leo, nice to hear from you. Yes agreed. I used three candles to get enough light for the camera but it was rather over doing it. Tom has suggested flickering LED lights which would definite be safer.
