  • In part 22, I'm hiking into a small stream that is absolutely stunning. If I hadn't seen it in person, I'm not sure I'd believe it was real! The day start with me setting up my rainfly to hold a camping spot that I'll return to for the next few days as I explore other streams in the area. I end the day throwing streamers on the stream behind camp It was an amazing day!

    This my favorite go-to channel for nice relaxing fishing. The only ones I actually look forward to watching is the smaller channels. It seems the bigger the channel, the more flair and clutter and less fishing. I do get jealous, but it seems like im right there fishing with you. Keep being Blessed.

    Drew, I saw where you said that you were falling and that your boots were from 2016. I had the same boots and after a couple of seasons, I found the footing with those boots got very slippery. I even replaced the studs and still kept falling. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the rubber sole had worn (just like a car tire) and was no longer providing the necessary grip. Like you, I fish deep in the woods by myself. Better to get new boots than fall in the middle of nowhere. BTW, I like your videos. I usually get to fish 150+ days a year, so when I'm not on the water I check out where you've been. I'm amazed at the size of some of the trout you pull from these mountain streams.

    I’ve fished most of the streams in N Idaho and I’ve run into over 40 bears. I’ve even tossed a fish over a bear while I was knee deep in the stream. Our bears are not aggressive, but of course, can’t pass up free food. So if you see one on a trail, there is little chance of danger (IME.) If you leave good out at night, or grease drippings, any of that, you’ll likely get a visit, but it’s about the free food, nit s threat.

    • @LooknFishy
      @LooknFishy  Před 2 lety +3

      I'm not worried about aggressive bears. But they are wild animals and unpredictable so I plan for the worst case so I'm prepared in the unlikely event it happens!

      @@LooknFishy What a quirky company. They sell squirrel feeders, garden hose nozzles, and hammocks.

      @@tonywillingham8109 Do they really lol. I got the hammock as a gift, so I picked up the rainfly off amazon. Never had any issues. Now I'm curious lol! Just looked and didn't even see the rainfly but I've had it several years.

    You are BLESSED! Do you have a website or email?

  • @realityobservationalist7290

    I'm curious, have you dealt with vandalism/theft/vehicle break-ins? You are out there for long periods of time with a lot of gear. I would think that your vehicle would be targeted. Out here in Oregon I am on the water a fraction of the time you are, with a fraction of the gear, yet my truck has been targeted multiple times just in the last 5 years.
    More and more I am starting to think maybe it's my shitty BLUE state, which is increasingly doing a terrible job at crime prevention.... I'm wondering if there's less of that in the central states. I need to move.

      Constant worry but haven't had an issue. Might help I usually get as far away from society as possible.

      @@LooknFishy , that definitely helps! Well hopefully it doesn't happen to you. Dealing with insurance on a laundry list of stolen camping/fishing gear is a nightmare.

      Some of the Oregon rivers - most of them - have small poverty riddled communities all along them. People have lived on fishing but obstructions have shut it down. The people are stuck in those towns. Idaho has many fewer communities and those who do live in the river areas are mostly hunters, with land and gardens. Total different social structure. Poverty is the issue, not evil.

      Rural Idaho is super safe. I'd be more worried about rodents getting into my vehicles wiring and causing problems.

    Far from Huge Fish…… nice setting and nice video 👍. Spend a month in Alaska, Trout don’t count till there at least 30:inch. Halibut at least 100 lbs kings 50 lb, Silvers 20 lb…… However fishin is still fishin 👍

      Haha, I hear ya. Not a dig but truly hope I never get to a point where only 30 inch trout matter. I'm more of the experience guy and appreciate I still get excited to find 16 inch cutts in streams where I'd expect 8 inch fish! 30 inch is like the super bowl...if that's the only game that matters...most will never be fulfilled. I'd be happy playing on the practice squad...but that's just me lol!
