She knew she was going to be excused from the ring if her dog tried to bite the judge… and that was the next thing that was going to happen if she didn’t get her dog under control… and the chance of being unable to show him anymore… aggression towards a judge is inexcusable and she knew that…

Sankt Bernards (especially the males) don’t shy away from biting in situations like these that make them uncomfortable. The owner was trying to avoid just that.

US Citizen here, I *LOVE* seeing dogs with ears and tails intact! After 40 years working with animals and in animal rescue, I still don't understand the idiocy of US show breeders insisting on mutilating dogs to show. Bless those US show breeders that are following the humanity of the rest of the world's show breeders in leaving their dogs in a natural state.

Trends vary in various countries. So we can not be overly intrusive about the personal choices of others if personal choice is what has been granted. In regard to breeders we know of who crop the ears and dock the tails, mainly the thing given us to encourage is good care and maintenance by the breeder who takes the responsibility of seeing the cropped and docked litter of puppies through the healing process.

Mah.
