This is amazing! I understand why you sold it, hope everything turned out good for you. You have loads of talent. Maybe you could build another one, you would get lots of followers as you did it. I would be your number 1 fan! I'm good at building furniture from scratch, just don't feel confident enough to build the house itself. But I did purchase an old handbuilt dollhouse that needs loads of work. Thank you for sharing this!!
Hi! If you can build furniture, then you can build a house! Some planning is good. I have built several and have found that if I have an idea or theme in mind and type of furniture/layout it helps a lot. I also build from scratch, so after all measurements are calculated, I build a mock house with foam board/painters tape so that I can see what I need to change. Plus it depends on what your going to build it out of. I personally like things as close to real ( totally compulsive), and built to withstand kids, and most hazards...so I use good wood (not masonite), wood glues, etc...etc... maybe start with a foam board house...and if you get serious think about what kind of windows, doors, etc...it's not too hard to make them yourself, they are really expensive. I built the Madison Dollhouse from a kit and I added a kitchen and extra bathroom using foam board because those rooms that came with the kit were too small. Now I'm working on a lighted room box kitchen because I don't have room for another whole doll house.

I like the details of the yellow flowers on the teapots in the kitchen. Did you paint those yourself? Your posing is excellent with the original dolls. Did you sell the house or what happened? Absolutely love the work unabashedly in its original form!

@@averyfinewoman what a gift to be able to serve your daughter in that way! I sometimes feel like I am wasting my time not learning a profitable skill because I can be so distracted by dollhouses. I don't know if I can complete a project like that, and if I didn't do it that excellently, it couldn't make that much money, even if I spent a ton of time on it... how much time did you spend on dollhouses that didn't make money until you got one that really did make money?
I suppose the answer obviously includes crafting long enough that your kids were raised... and since I still have twin toddlers instead of a grown daughter having a baby...... I should maybe give myself time and practice.
@@Lillbetlayne actually, never thought I'd sell it...and it is my 3rd build. Anyway, profitable crafts are hard to find...I haven't found one I can make much money at. lol...very few artists of all genres rarely get paid what their art is worth. I say...find something you enjoy. even if it's that 20 minutes a day you get to yourself!

Hello! I always loved miniature anything from childhood on; so when I came across some dollhouse furniture...I had to have it. And then I had to have a house to put it in. I purchased an older dollhouse from a lady. It had lighting and was finished. When it got home...the wiring didn't work and it was in rougher shape than I thought. I started rehabbing it, and from then on I was hooked.
I repair/refurbished 3 of them, and then decided I wanted my own and different from the kits out there that I could afford. I have always done a lot of crafts and had been married to a general contractor at one time, so I knew a little about how real houses are built. That said...first decide what kind of house you want, how much work you're willing to do, how much time & patience, and money you want to spend on it. Dollhouses can be quite expensive depending on what you put into it. I gathered windows, lights, railings, etc...etc...for a few years before I started my build. This house in video cost approx. $1500 to build from scratch. because it had nice working windows...a lot of them, real brick, real shingles, real tile...real wood flooring,. and that doesn't count the furniture and accessories. So to start...decide what you want, size as well., where you're going to put it. who gets to play in it?
you might want to try a small kit first. Do not use hot glue...ever. use good wood glue, get some cheap clamps, and a metal square. oh...decide on lighting, type of wallpapers...etc...too. I do my wallpaper as I go because it can be really hard to get into smaller spaces. If you're going to build from scratch, make your design using foam board/tape to see if it works for you. I hope this helps! Let me know what your building.
and where did you get the pink bathroom set? That's the room that transports me back in time the most and I wasn't born till the 80's!
I purchased the bathroom set on ebay, then had to cut/redo the sink as per the era. I did paint the teapots in kitchen. and thank you for the compliments. The original dolls are Caco. I did sell the house to the lady who posted this last video from AZ. I had a pregnant daughter who had medical problems...so it was fast cash. just about killed me though. I grew up in 60's, but spent a lot of time with both sets of grandparents, and this is a combo of their houses. I do appreciate the compliments, and glad it's getting shared again. Be safe, Suzi

Hi! I made the bathroom tiles out of sculpey clay, cut and glued to a thin board...then finished them with gloss acrylic varnish.
