i love how violently desperate this theme is, it really does sum up Kieran's whole character with how discordant it is
I'm so proud of him!!!! Where is the "hug him" and "I'm proud of you" options Gamefreak?!?!?
I wanna hug him too.🥺
He’s like a brother to me.
I agree!
like him or hate the kid you can’t say he’s not one of the most determined rivals in the series at this point.
Now this is a rival. Almost reminds me of gen 1 and 2 rivals
For real, I don’t even blame him. Having Ogrepon taken out from under his nose would make me hate the player character too.
@@SALMGT a lot of the paldean characters would benefit from a dynamic story system if the story worked around the battles you win and lose - I would have definitely thrown just to let the guy have his win
True, but at some point he gets over it, and even tells you too take Terapagos.
Gives me Wally vibes except he’s more mentally unstable
Gen 9 music refuses to miss. Absolute banger.
Wish they would've remixed Carmine's theme too, Kieran has 3 now and she's stuck with the OG.
Because Carmine didn’t change that much
4, he has one for the battle when he has Terapagos
*Carmine is annoying and obnoxious, Kieran is a chad plus damn whoever said he was possessed.*
@@krisdreemurr3533 It was only a theory. And the possessive Peach is “Peacharunt”. The story is not over yet.
@@Connowot387 *I know, DON'T SPOILER ME!!!*
Game Freak KNEW what they were doing when they designed Kieran's team. Dual screens Prankster Grimmsnarl, Politoed's rain setting up Dragonite's Thunder and Hurricane, Incineroar, Dragonite's unrevealed Normal Tera type paired with ESpeed, and Life Orb Porygon-Z and Hydrapple having perfect unresisted coverage... if Cynthia is the strongest singles NPC in the history of Pokemon, then Kieran is absolutely the strongest doubles NPC in the history of Pokemon.
Kieran gave it his all after months of training, but he was no match for my dumb luck & funny giant catfish
I also love how fitting his team is for him, he has the original pseudo-legendary, a relative of one his Pokémon from Kitikami, a jittery, disturbed mess that belies an absolute powerhouse, an ogre-like beast, the best non-legendary Pokémon in competitive doubles & an evolution of one of his old Pokémon that *can* be extremely powerful, but only in the right circumstances
I freaked out when I saw the Incineroar.
And then you have poketubers like PM7 who didn’t have a single Pokémon go down because his team was made by Wolfey (VGC world champion)
The fact that his incineroar even had intimidate. Like I was using a contrary tera fire serperior with a hisuian arcanine next to it and I was still shaking in my boots. And the grimmsnarl having focus sash was mean too. I love this fight so much.
What pokemon is funny giant catfish?
@@Decidukid wishcash I think?
When I fought him my last two members were Garganacl and Ogerpon
Garganacl Salt Cured his Hydrapple
The turn afterwards, Ogerpon knocked it out with a crit
Props for my Pokémon for delivering the most salt in the wound moment ever
Fr lol
When I fought him I only had my Dragonite left, who was confused with outrage and only had 7 health… but I took a huge risk in having it attack with another outrage, but it was able to kill his Hydrapple instead of itself! Giant risk, and I got lucky.
Kieran is one of the most human characters in all of the Pokemon main games.
using Ogerpon against him gives an extra line of dialogue
what is it?
@@sa1ry_ Something along the lines of:
“You even have the nerve to bring the ogre at a time like this!”
@@sa1ry_ if im Not wrong, it's "You really got the nerve... to bring the OGRE out NOW of all times" and Carmine hello to her
What's the line?
In Spanish it's even better
"The nerve to bring Ogerpon out... STOP RUBBING IT ON MY FACE!"
Gen 9 really gave us the 2 best rivals in the series outta nowhere
This is totally different to any song that Pokemon had gave us before... It is tense, and you ACTUALLY feel the nerves.
They’ve given us many tense and such music before, but this one just differs from the rest

I wouldn't call being consistently salty great writing and character development.
@@drunknbard2807 Anyone can boil down any situation or literature down to its most simple and non-contexual essence and make it sound stupid, in reality his story was about the aftermath of realizing that sometimes, no matter how hard you work, and no matter how bad you want something, you still cant have it, but you can still be happy.

He’s my favorite character in Pokémon hands down. I kinda want more dlc if it means Kieran gets more screen time
The boy with an inferiority complex gets great music and the high level team we’ve all been asking for. His team’s average level is higher than Cynthia’s BDSP team. Geeta should’ve been this strong.
The level of details in this soundtrack is on whole a different planet, you can hear violins, distorted guitars, slap bass, pianoes and so on, some instruments kick in even for single notes and it all sounds amazing
The violin part in the beginning, the melody means insanity.
Fun Fact: If you bring out Ogerpon during this battle, Kieran will have special dialogue, He'll say something along the lines of "You've got some nerve sending the ogre out now of all times!" It definitely took me by surprise
I’m glad there’s a special interaction for it considering I brought Ogerpon to fight him on purpose.
Carmine also have special dialogue if you bring Ogrepon to the field while battleing against her in central plaza. Something like "OH You missed me too Ogre?"
Yeah, I forgot I had her and had to sent for battle because he wiped out my other counter, my game is in iberian spanish and he says "HOW COULD YOU! Stop rubbing it in my face!"
@@DMP64 that’s so cool
Apparently Kieran will target Ogerpon more than any other Pokémon in this battle.
The way this songs starts slow and mellowly and instantly slaps u in the face with the hardest riffs ever IN A POKEMON GAME just hits DIFF
I didn't think this music would go this hard when i battled Kieran
Reminder that he uses a prankster Grimmsnarl and an intimidate Incineroar in a double battle

None of them fainted and the AI got dumb at the end too
Ah yes, the theme of “is that Intimidate Incineroar?!”
Kieran when you bring out Ogerpon: You a real B---- A-- for doing that
I swear when I saw him pull out a grimmsnarl and an incineroar I knew he was being fr when kieran said he was gonna takw rhis battle seriously
I absolutely LOVE the guitar part at 1:20, it just exudes so much damn power. Kieran's not holding back anymore, and it shows. Yet you have also grown much stronger since Kitakami, and you hold nothing back either. Such an amazing setup for this fight, man. 10/10
When I tell you I actively scrambled away from my screen when this started playing on my switch
I was praying to whatever gods would listen that I would survive this fight
People are scared of Cynthia and Volo's themes??? NAH MY FEAR'S WITH KIERAN'S.
Also he's easily harder than Cynthia lmao
Volo's harder than him, but only because of Giratina, and tbh if Giratina didn't have "terrible might" I think Volo'd still be easier than him

Also pla battle system makes volo fight easier than normal system, if you include giratina
Otherwise it's not even THEORETICALLY possible without overleveling or cheesing.
If it was a solo battle it would be easier. Double battles are always harder because they are less common for the normal player. VGC players have less issues.

Is his second battle theme better than this? I’m taking a small break since I just beat him (and i dont want to rush it because ive been so excited for this for months) and i think this version is an improvement than the first 2 battle themes
@@kieranpleaseforgiveme I don't want to spoil anything too much but the music in indigo disk is all top tier imo. @@tempertenchi Ohh okay thats really good to hear ty! I like those two hearts you included next to each other in this comment
You know, Kieran could have won over Ogerpon if he actually spent time with her and not going out of his way back to the town to explain why Ogerpon isn’t a bad person.
Ogrepon liked Kieran, it’s just that she reminded him of the mask maker rather the foreigner.
i mean going back to town kinda of rectified Ogerpons rep and got the town on its side
Kieran made the fatal mistake of having worldly desires in a game series where the emotionless protag was kissed by God and is rewarded just for existing.
@@SurlyDuff814 Yeah, that was a major issue. The message comes across as painting him in the wrong for having ambitions beyond his role despite having done more to earn Ogerpon's trust in a day than the protagonist did in the whole campaign.
What's wrong with him trying to do the right thing to let the town know they're wrong?
I just realised but his new hairstyle is the kitakami updo... The one malenprotagonists unlock when first playing the teal mask!
I do love the fact that most of his team can hard counter Ogerpon. I did not expect him to run a special Dragonite set and instantly obliterate my Ogerpon with Hurricane
He has my respect as a strong battler. Came down to the wire and only my torterra I transfered over was left standing. All of which were bred for atleast 5 IV and max EVs. Twas a battle worth remembering...
Kieran reminds me of a few rivals:
1. Blue - Both became champions and battled you a bunch.

This fight was so hard even when Pokemon are at lv 85 or higher
Actually though. I have like all lvl 80+ legends and had to go in with dark void Darkrai drought torkoal sunny day strats
Yeah my mono-dark team challenge I nearly lost. Had only Houndoom and Honchcrow left. Meow, Roaring Moon, Grimm, and Ttar all got cooked. Still that team is quite stacked.
I was forced to bring 2 of my ev trained max raid Pokemon from Sword, also had 2 i ev trained in Scarlet.
And even with that it wasn't easy.

Sneasler and Hydrapple from Scarlet.

The theme and the battle was amazing! I was really nervous and excited when it was time to face him. Even when I had my oinkologne which had a yawn and protection as a support when the rest of my team was on the offense, I still had a little bit of trouble and the battle lasted longer cause I couldn't even one shot some of his pokemon like I did before. He really really worked hard to get to where he is, and I am so proud of him. I felt happy and sad when I defeated him. I even said, "I'm sorry, Keiran, you gave it your all, but it's over." that shocked face really broke my heart. I really wanted to hug him right then and there. But I will say it was worth bringing out Ogrepon during the battle! That line and that face he made! "You got some nerve...bring out the ogre NOW OF ALL TIMES!?" Oh my God,it was so worth it!
Ah shit. We got breakdowns in a Pokemon song…
I dont know about volo because i havent played legends arceus but, this scarlet and violets dlc is the hardest elite four ive ever faced. Ive never had to ev train and but held items on to beat the sinnoh and unova elite fours (which are semi difficult in their own right). These fights were trial and error and forced me to think harder than i had to for any pokemon game, like they got a vgc player to make all the elite four and Kieren's teams.
Yeah, even my level 100's was still taking a beating and this man was hard.
In all fairness you can't compare Legends with the other games because of the different mechanics. You can't set up and sweep your way through teams, so it's inherently more difficult. But yes I agree, the blue berry elite 4 + champion are probably the most difficult in the entire series, provided you don't cheese your way through with level 100s.
They were really rough as a pretty experienced competitive player (I've climbed ladder in singles when I really get time to grind on showdown and played semi-seriously since gen 6 or so), but the one that really kicked me to the next town over was Amarys. I had a far better matchup into her type then the other three, yet Crispin and Drayton only got me on the ropes. Amarys beat me twice and I adjusted pretty hard for the second try. I won the third game by two mons but it reminded me of Nemona's final fight in how she was the only trainer I lost to in the game period, not even to the supposedly bigger threats like Turo or Kieran. I think it's likely because I just underestimated how bad things got early on and made reckless plays in the first couple turns vs the final fights which had me so focused that I didn't mess up nearly as much. I did restrict myself a lot (no healing items or legendaries, ingame team only, total blind playthrough in terms of trainers, and intentionally cutting back on levelling) but I would still say my team comp and move choices were solid (I taught TMs like Protect and Icy Wind, and used baiting attacks to abuse the AI like I did in Colo/XD)
@greyscaleadaven lacey ripped into me and made me feel like a noob, i got swept twice by a tailwind decorate boasted Primarina that just refused to die. I made the initial comment .
Everyone but Drayton and Kieren took at least two tries (because for the last two, I went and brought competitive items and changed some pokemons tera types).
@greyscaleadaven also I lost to Nemona also, more so because I decided to not switch against her and not use type advantages because I was too busy laughing at the so called top champion geetah (who i also did the same thing against and didn't lose a single pokemon), that I was also treating Nemona as a joke, I got swept by a dundunsparce that set up too many coils, safe to say I didn't do the same thing on the rematch.
His arc is basically him trying to go out with Ogerpon but she prefer us. Then he become evil and edgy like every teen.
Perfect
Our new rival becoming the Pokemon equivalent of a r/NiceGuy was not on my bingo list for this year.
Kieran's the coolest furry 😂
best boy in the history of boys god damn
I LOVED the Ogerpon reaction line, I wasn't expecting it at all since it came at the tail end of an extremely heated and awesome final battle
just wish the game allowed me to let him catch Terapagos :/
The game...technically DID let him catch Terapagos and use it against you (in an easy, anticlimactic rematch). Problem is that it didn't last long, as Terapagos' power after Keiran Terastalized it into its Stellar Form was too great for even a MASTER BALL to contain when he tried to return Terapagos to it.
After its Stellar Form is defeated, Kieran's response makes it clear that he feels it would be better if Terapagos was in your hands, as it was his reckless desire to defeat the protag (Brair's encouragement aside) that caused the team to be in such a dangerous situation in the first place.
My heart was broken when Terapagos awaken and walked to me instead of him... Even though i mainly bought this game for Terapagos but if possible I would let him keep it forever 😭... At this point i dont need new legendaries in this game anymore
This boss fight in a nutshell: I HOPE YOU KNOW HOW TO DO DOUBLE BATTLES ELSE YOUR GONNA GET HIT BY THIS GUTAIR RFF
So true i was caught off guard by the hurricaine spam i lost 3 level 100 pokemon iv and ev trained before my fricking walrein killed with a blizzard that monster

You have some nerve... Uploading this track NOW of all times?!
This has gone way harder than I thought. Truly befitting one who is taking the title strongest trainer ever (I know his ace is lv 87 one lower than Red's Pikachu and Cynthia's Garchomp, but he has a stronger team than those 2) in the franchise.
Cynthia is FAR easier than this guy
Red is a complicated case due to the game's mechanics but yeah team wise only yes

Ngl…this version of kieran…could give cynthia a run for her money in terms of difficulty
Easily lmao
funny how a bunch of teens in a school club made a stronger elite 4 and champion than any actual league
@@__Barb__ I mean, essentially you could argue the same for the protagonists lmao
The first one that comes to mind is USUM protag. The Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon protagonist in particular is OBSCENELY strong. Like, even compared to all other protagonists, they're the strongest one by a mile (and that includes Gen 4 since the creation trio as Pokémon are confirmed to be clones and not the real gods with the real absolute deities being there but not the ones we catch, but that's beyond the point), with the reasoning boiling down to RR episode, Ultra Necrozma's multiversal technicality (complex Pokémom physics detail but I can explain if you want) and, if you care enough, beating Red and Blue both (though ngl they're relatively weak compared to other protags).
Especially the Rainbow Rocket episode is beyond comprehension. We in 1 hour did what an entire world failed to do SIX TIMES IN A ROW WITH NO BREAKS, defeated the legendaries from every single game, defeated STRONGER versions of the main plots of all other games, and then went back home and had some barbecue meat. Try to put the plot in perspective on paper and it's more hilarious after every word LMAO.
Nah kieran legit spent 5 hours on a call with Wolfey VGC to get a godlike competitive team. Mans team was so hard for me, even with 3 ev trained lvl 100 pokemon
It took me 3 tries to beat him without using restorative items and I love that. It's amazing what Gamefreak can do when they have the balls to put actual strong opponents in their games!
I somehow beat him on the FIFTH TRY. FIFTH.
This and team star final boss themes were quite unexpected, but I am glad for their existence.
Sounds like something out of Xenoblade.

WHY OGERPON?? WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME? YOU SAID YOU'D BE BY MY SIDE! OGERPON!!! ALL I DID, I DID FOR YOU!!!!
It keeps the theme of kitakami and says why not crank it up to 100

The first moment the guitar dropped I actually stopped, just wanting to listen not using any moves
One of the best characters in Pokémon we've had in a while. I love this guy
I really wish I can do this battle again, just to experience this greatness again
This sounds like a straight up anime.
I don't know if Junichi Medusa or Toby Fox made this; sounds like it could be either one.
..Minako Adachi did this.
she tends to do the guitar or synth driven music like vs Wally, vs Marnie/Team Yell etc. and she did Kieran's Teal Mask theme.
@@seymourflux747 thanks 👍
Go Ichinose, Hitomi Sato, Shota Kageyama and Minako Adachi have been the lead composers and arrangers for the vast majority of Pokemon music since RSE
This battle has skyrocketed its way into being in my top 5 favorite battles in Pokémon. A competitive team akin to Cynthia in BD/SP, which is funny because they both use Porygon-Z. I also used a Shiny one named Neo that saved my ass several times. He really is the One. But no, this battle requires a lot of thought. The team has great synergy, half of his team (Politoed, Dragonite, Incineroar) have hidden abilities, while the other half has abilities and moves that benefit them greatly (Politoed's Drizzle combined with Dragonite's Expert Belt boosted Hurricane and Thunder makes them never miss, Grimmsnarl's Prankster+Screens get set up immediately, Porygon-Z's Adaptability+Life Orb boosted Hyper Beam one-shots everything, Hydrapple's Supersweet Syrup ensures that its moves hit). I really struggled with this fight, and it was a close victory with 2 Pokémon left (Shiny Metagross, HAL 9000, and Shiny Magmortar, Magma).
probably my favorite theme in this whole DLC
I already liked kieran's theme but this just made it 10 times better!
Also the part at 0:48 kinda reminds me of the team rocket encounter / radio tower takeover theme.
My favorite theme of this generation hands down I love the electric guitar parts !!!!
I think Turo's theme is still better, but not by much
Gosh this theme was EPIC.
Spoiler !!!
Incineroar.
Yeah all the BBA League Boss Trainers have Starter Final Evos
It befits Kieran's edgy side that he had Incineroar
Incineroar is called Heel Pokémon. Heel is a term in Wrestling which is meant to be a villain role.
Just a week before the DLC dropped I knew Kieran was going to have an Incineroar solely because of the heel role it plays. And with his obsession with strength, it’s only right that he tries grabbing the mon in the VGC format.
Top Pokémon champions themes
I made sure Ogrepon dealt the last blow, and headcannoned that Ogrepon understood Kieran’s emotions and delivered the “I’m gonna straighten you out” moment.
I think he has one of, if not the best theme ever.
_Towards thee I roll._
_To the last, I grapple with thee._
_From Hell's heart, I stab at thee._
*_For Hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee!_*
Ok Atticus
If this battle was insanely hard, I don't want to imagine the kind of challenge that would be the rematch after the Mochi Mayhem

it says something that the most replayed section of the video is the beginning
I sent out Wellspring Ogerpon as a lead against him _AND_ kept it in play.
I had to stop the battle and just jam to the music when j heard the music
…was that some Geosenge town I heard in there?! Could’ve been just me. :p
And by “Geosenge town”… well, if you know you know.
You mean what's left of it after ... well ...
I couldn't believe he actually had an Intimidate Incineroar.
I still beat the crap out of it, though.
Finally the real champion
4:14 hits hard
I feel like it’s worth noting that Keiran now trumps Cynthia making him the new strongest trainer in any of the base games. However I still found him hundereds of times easier than her.
Still Kieran is better than her.
I enjoyed the battle of Kieran much more than Cynthia's.
0:19 This sounds like Aeon Of raging darkness from rhapsody of fire
Does anyone else hear the Gen 8 Gym theme?
I definitely didn't bring Ogerpon and the Lousy Three for this fight, nope.
Why does scarlet and violets soundtrack slap so hard and here I thought ultrasun and moon had the best music 🤘🤘🤘🤘
If you think this hits hard, wait til you see how the battle ends.
Makes up for Geeta
Fortunately, her DLC team is significantly better.
@Oscarus4250 yeah I saw and I'm very happy
@@pandosham Truly.
But I may be honest, Geeta's ace situation was always an odd one. Because, lorewise and designwise, Glimmora was a perfect pick for her - she even kinda looks like one. Also the fact that Glimmora is made of crystals, and is pretty common in Area Zero where Terastal Energy has its' main source, it connets well to a leader of Pokemon League where Terastalization dominates. But gameplay-wise, Glimmora is VERY non-ace like. Yeah, it has amazing Sp Atk and decent Speed with okay-ish bulk, but the Abilities it has - Toxic Debris and Corrosion - are far more suiting for lead/support Pokemon.
Then she also has a Kingambit, which is PERFECT for ace position due to Supreme Overlord Ability and amazing stats overall (only ones that are low are Sp Atk and Speed which isn't that much of a big deal, especially with Terastalization existing), but... to me it didn't match Geeta as much as Glimmora in terms of "character design", if you get what I mean. Like, I've had a hard time trying of reasons to have Kingambit as Geeta's ace other than "it makes her battle more difficult", which to most would be enough, but for artistic souls like myself, it's not enough. Although they match in a sense that both are leaders of their respective "fractions", and... let's be honest, aren't exactly the brightest gems in the mine, with Kingambit's Violet dex entry stating that it's a poor strategist and Geeta being, lorewise, least liked "Grand" Champion in her own region, and being a bit of an airhead (Rika gets the shit done)
Honestly, I was initially thinking, and to be honest still am... why not have Glimmora be the ace AND the lead. I know it is a bit contradictionary as leads are the first Pokemon to be sent out,.and aces tend to be the last Pokemon to be sent out, but that's not something that hasn't happened before - Red's Pikachu and Guzma's Golisopod are the prime examples of this. Also, ALL NPC Trainers in the PWT send out their aces first (but that may be because of technical limitations/complications). One could argue that this would "conflict" with the set example of the "gimmick ace Pokemon" being sent out last as a climax, but honestly, I don't think it's enough for me to dismiss the possibility - Geeta has claimed to never hold back during battles... so why not start with her ace and dominate from the start, giving her an advantage early one? Then, Kingambit - Tera or not; even without it it's pretty busted - should be the last one to be sent out to make full use of Supreme Overlord Ability and sweep whatever remained of challenger's team... assuming they even reach Kingambit in the first place.
I don't think her DLC team doesn't make more sense than standard one - it makes more sense gameplay-wise, but I think it'd be interesting to see how would the "ace lead and end sweeper" strategy work out for Geeta.
Kieran is so emo he looks like Rob Lucci now
Aether theme
I hate how he was way easier than the Elite Four (for me at least)
It made me feel so bad..
Well yeh Lacey was the hardest in 5 for me... However after I completed the game and raised all of my team to lv100, everyone's team was same ease to beat, BUT I did lose to him once somehow... 😳 didnt even intentionally lose... His team is oddly hard when you don't put your team in correct order, other e4 you can beat with whatever orders you want but hes sorta exception.
i love his theme, but the battle was quite easy....every single battle i have fought in the pokemon games was easy but volo, he destroyed me completely, took me a while before i kicked his behind
Try going in without overleveled Pokémon (it's hard to do with permanent exp share though)
He has a full team of 6 competitive Pokémon, with weather tactics, held items, a pseudo-legendary, an actually thought out strategy, the most meta-defining Pokémon in VCG, and amazing powerhouses. After losing to him, I tried bringing in two overleveled Pokémon and I still couldn't handle it. It forced me to strategize on advance.
@@kuks0453 you know what...a challenge sounds fun! i'm tryin it! or...at least try cuz i got a bad habit of making my pokemon extremely strong, they go from pretty much being very cute and weak to being cute but dangerous- but yeah i'll give it a wirl
@@kuks0453 but i dunno who i'm gonna drop, my really strong shiny lucrio in my scarlet though since in violet i already kicked his behind, for my violet, my mewtow and mew are the strongest ones i have and for scarlet my shiny lucrio i got from putting in the code (sh1ny buddy) with no spaces..yeah he still out so theres that code! get before hes gone! he's super strong as heck!
Im sorry but this is THE best theme in gen 9

Idc what anyone says. Performance issues don’t phase me as much. These games are the best in the franchise easily. If these were made with the new switch power they would have been outstanding
I love these games too but using “new switch power” aint saving em these games are very poorly made and held together by duck tape they’d need a massive overhaul to fix all the performance stuff and visuals
@@mopfez9852 I think people need to stop thinking that the current switch is good enough to handle a really nice looking game. Like people say breath of the wild looks great but personally I don’t think it does. Could sv be optimized better? Yes. But the console they are working with isn’t good enough for what their ambitions are. It can’t even get above 30fps. Like I said believe whatever you want Idc.

Does anyone else hear Spamton's theme?

goes so hard. Loved this battle because I wrecked him, the only fun I had all dlc. Guess over levelling was the only way for me to not rage quit.
I dont want to hear anymore complaints about Pokémon games being easy
