  • If you are repairing your old, Worn-Out or broken Honda Key then you may use its existing sensor/transponder into new shell or key casing. This will not only save lot of money but you will also be not required to reprogram the key. Old transponder can be re-used directly. No re-programming required. Suitable for Honda City, Civic, Jazz, Accord, Brio, CR-V and many other Honda Cars...

    Good instructions. I didn't have a vice, but followed much the same approach. I put the key down flat on some newspaper on a table. Holding the key down by the blade, I used a small hobby wood saw to make four cuts on each face of the plastic of the key, making a square pattern, as far away from the logo in the center as possible (where the chip is). It is not necessary to cut though the metal of the key: just the plastic. I then prised the square of plastic from each side of the key to expose the transponder. On the 1977 Civic I did this for, the chip is a tiny black cylinder (about the diameter of a match) inside a white plastic holder. I pushed the chip out of the holder, and inserted it into the holder on an aftermarket key. After checking it was working, I added a dab of glue to the holder, to make sure it did not fall out.

I don't have one, can I get one and program it, and if so what will it do? open the door? start the car? I still get the alarm red light not sure how all that works. • @davidhale1591
      @davidhale1591 Před 4 lety

      You carnt overwrite it once it's programmed it has five rolling codes and one ignition code that only work on your car and be careful around sources of heat like apoxey or superglue car body filler as these will harm the chip and either stop it from working completely or make it only partly work intermittently. I put resin round a chip to protect it inside the key head and I had to remove it from the key and place it right next to the ignition just to get it to work as it knackered the chip a little .luckily I got rid of the car to the scrap man so it was no longer an issue. If you use a cheap replacement key just check for a red tab on it on the opposite side of the key is a tiny hole so you can push the red tab ( chip tray ) out with a very small flat head screwdriver. And if it's a transponder fob check there's a space for the chip there normally is .sometimes the chip is a glass tube in this case your normal chip won't fit into the place of the glass tube .I've fitted chips in the normal valet key before now by just drilling a space with the right size drill bit just take care not to crack the plastic then place a small cut off of plastic inside on top of the chip before you put your glue to plug the hole this will stop most of the heat getting to your chip .
