  • This week we walk around the shipyard and look at exterior features of other catamarans and talk about what we looked at when we chose a Fountaine Pajot Orana 44. As we say in the video, we are not picking sides or saying one catamaran is better than another. We look at catamaran designs and what options are available in catamarans in the 40-foot range. Plus, Kay does all the work this week painting the anchor chain.
We are still on the hard during the Greek COVID lockdown, WITH an end in sight! We have officially missed the weather window for an Atlantic crossing in 2020, so we’re trying to stay in the Med-area until November 2021 when the weather window returns. We are weeks from departing Greece and heading to Croatia after almost 7 months in lockdown. We hope you enjoy the video!
    Catamarans we look at:
    Lagoon 40, 42, 45
    Bali 4.1, 4.3
    Nautitech 44, 45
    Fontaine Pajot Orana 44
    Fontaine Pajot Elba 45
    Fontaine Pajot Helia 44
    Excess 12

Typically quite a good cruising boat with a reasonable cruising speed. Better than a Lagoon. FYI I do own and Orana. Cheers

Hello Hans-Jorg! So glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for your comments. We had a good laugh with the voice over too. If you have any catamaran questions let us know.

Wow this was super informative! I really appreciate the comparisons and learning about mast size, boom heights and placements, amount of sail, windability, hull lengths, etc! Of all the sailing channels I follow, I’ve never heard of anyone painting their chain or anchor! I think that’s so cool and a great idea and I wonder how long it will last? I would think the windless and the salt water would just remove that paint and no time…? Is that red white and blue for the US flag, or blue white and red for France? 😂. I can’t tell you how many times while watching this, I said to myself ‘that’s what she said’ I know you both would get a good laugh! Really great video and so heartwarming to see you taking care of the beaches! 💕. Final thought: would Ada’s bum fit through the escape hatch? 😜🤦‍♀️

Haha! Thanks for the comments!! Very funny, yes, that's what they said. I'm super glad you found the video interesting and informative too. The paint is enamel paint so it should stay on pretty well, especially inside the links even if the outside gets worn off. We had these little colored rubber inserts between the links but they keep falling out. Red, white and blue for our US-flagged boat. Thanks again!
