I went to Paradise Cove a couple of times for Thanksgiving dinner with my family. I haven’t been there in, at least, five years, though. It was really nice, then. Very special. It was a unique experience to sit and eat outside with the sand beneath your feet.

Michael, another great video. Paradise Cove is a family owned business and has been for decades. You should have tried to talk to the owner to see why things are deteriorating. The Beach Boys recorded there album there and the series The Rockford Files was filmed there. Was there any mention of that while you and Lizzy were walking around? The food is really good there and lots of it. 👍🏻😎

I still would go there as I live not too far (Woodland Hills) except the walk from PCH is so far and food is so expensive. I wanted to also walk on the beach and get a glimpse of the millionaire homes (the wealthiest of the wealthiest live there) but the beach just wasn’t there enough to walk it seemed like. Nice video. got here accidently, however it was a very pleasant one, it brought back some nice memories. I was an international student doing my masters in engineering at CSUN Northridge in SF valley in early eighties. I would on numerous occasions head down Topanga canyon and stop at Bob fishing and bait supply on PCH get my fishing gear and supplies and head north to Paradise Cove pier. The parking for a whole day was TWO dollars then. On multiple occasions filming sets would be there as this spot was popular for filming i guess. I sometimes would walk north and do some surf fishing up to Point Dume which separates a secluded not well known then NUDE beach from Zuma Beach. The exposed rocks and erosion of sand is a common scene in that area it is usually after a major swell and big waves that wash out the sands but they will be reclaimed back after a period of calm sea conditions. This is obvious in the video from the sea weed washed out on the shore. I've seen these variations on this stretch of beach. By the way Johnny Carson's estate is few hundred yards on a cliff north of the paradise cove pier . best regards.

Yes Michael, the beach IS disappearing. Waikiki has to have sand trucked in or their beach would disappear too. My favorite beach is pretty much the same, but there is more plastic trash washing up. I always walk the beach before I leave and pick things up. It’s clean because the military keeps it clean. I try not to get too attached because I’ve heard rumblings that it needs to be open to the public. I’ve raised my children on that beach, and brought my Grandchildren there too. It’s the dream of so many to live at the beach, but climate change and growing population combined with the fact that they aren’t making new land means it’s becoming extremely expensive to find that slice of paradise. Not just in the cost of real estate but also the cost of insurance and maintenance against the ravages of salt air and water.
When I lived in Boca Raton, on the mainland side of the intracoastal in a condo right on the intracoastal and side canals, I came to a valuable realization. And that is, it’s maybe better to live near the beaches (plural) than to spend a lot more and live right on a beach (singular). And the reason is that you pay a huge premium to be on the beach and…. It’s only one beach. In Florida, as anywhere, there’s a lot of variety in the character and vibe of the many beaches. Where I lived it was 1 mile to the Spanish River bridge, and once I pedaled across that I could go north or south to a number of different beaches. Some more natural and secluded (Ocean Ridge to the north), some with cool beach restaurant and bar vibes (Deerfield beach to the south or Delray to the north), some with volleyball and surfers and kite surfers, some with long fishing piers. If you spend all your gold to be on one beach you might become bored with that beach, and too house poor that you can no longer afford to travel to other beaches or vacation destinations. And then there’s the risk that your chosen beach changes over the years to something less than it was when you first arrived (as Michael is seeing in this video). Nope, better to live back a bit, for less money, so that you’ll be forced to get out and explore, and you’ll have remaining discretionary spending budget to do so.

You have low tides and high tides and it goes off the gravitational pull of the moon and depending on surf as well that day. You could go to the beach one other day with super low tide and small to no waves and it's going to be like you have Tons of beach. The reason anyway is for eating the great food on the sand and to smell the salt air. I am going to eat there tomorrow that sea food omlate is da bomb. Ha

@@MichaelBordenaro if it's eroding you will have more beach that parking lot will be the new beach ha just saying at low tide you still have the beach that people hang out on. But yeah you have some erosion each year and more so when waves slam the clifs. Your video is clean looking good job. 👍

@@rockreefsurf The parking lot could end up being the new beach if they don't maintain it lol. Here in Miami they literally add sand to the beach almost every year, otherwise, there would be no beach left. Thanks for the compliment😊
