this one-hit wonder from Germany really was a highlight of the mid 1980s, what with the Cold war being a thing during that time and this song acting as a means of protest against it. fast forward to 2024 and looking at where we are right now, chaos is still spreading across the globe. (ill stop the political banter here because thats a touchy subject i dont want to get too deep into, hope u will understand) there was even an English version of the same song dubbed "99 Red Balloons" which had all of its lyrics rewritten in English from the native German. there was a clear difference in how the lyrics were presented in the English version and the original German version (the latter being the superior version of the song in general, dont tag me in the comments about it).
