The producers and Carl were clearly big fans of Van McCoy and maybe his work with Chris Bartley. How nice to compliment Van by putting “Walk Softly” on the flip side.
Wonderful composition written by the phenomenal Van McCoy. Also masterfully recorded by Carl Graves (original, 1974), Aretha Franklin (1975), Billy Crash (1976), Gladys Knight and The Pips (1977), Marlena Shaw (1977) and Dynamic Superiors (1980). New generations need to rescue this and other McCoy treasures (Sweet bitter love, Lean on me, ....).
@@pradabears will check that here in a minute. My next best, which was the first alternate intro thing I ever heard about 18 months Ago, was Curvends Elizabeth and I just couldn’t believe how masterful it was.
Love your collection tyfs. I love hearing "new to me" old school music. Music execs these days dont realize the unmined pot of gold they have in baby boomers. We didnt stop buying music it went away. Many of us would still by records if they made them. And we would buy new old school music. I love the old groups i just wish they would make new albums.
***** Sharing is caring...This was the "B" side to "Baby Hang Up The Phone"...The Dynamic Superiors also have a very nice version of this as well as Gladys Knight although I prefer this one most!!!!! I must admit that I'm just as bad as a JUNKIE who's on whatever his/her drug of choice is...I still buy my drugs weekly and don't intend to stop anytime soon. My drug of choice however is WAX...Yeah,IMMA WAX JUNKIE and I will NEVER enter rehab!!!!! LOL.
This is by far the best version. Hear the heartbreak in Carl's voice. The flip side is "Baby Hang Up the Phone". . Both tracks are fantastic & the lyrics . . . oh God. Van McCoy was a genius.
All the real ones coming to pay homage to the OG samples/tracks 💯

A beautiful track written by the fantastic Van McCoy.
"Baby Hang Up the Phone" is on other side. Wonderful.

Shout to *BEEZY*
And curvends, who to me pioneered this alternate intro shit and then fell off the planet 😢 😭
Now isn't this better than "Seasons in the Sun?"
NICE! Almost as nice as G. KNIGHT and the PIPS!
I'll take this original version and The Dynamic Superiors' version over Gladys' or Aretha's versions but, that's just my preference.
