My Drones Are Acting Weird Vlog #2 AOS RC UL5X

  • I have just recently finished building out my third 5" using the AOS RC UL5X frame. But I am noticing a similar issue that my 3" Siren F3 has. It's this little twitch after a prolonged 100% throttle then cut to 0%. I have noticed it does not happen if I gradually bring the throttle down. My other two 5" don't have this issue but they are using a different stack.

    Looks 99.99% perfect to me, nice build, great flying.

    Try dynamic idle.
    for 3" should somewhere around 33 to 66. Depends on propeller pitch.

      Thanks for the help, I believe I have it set to 37, I'll play around with some other set points.

    I'd try a shorter antenna that can't wobble. Also that 3" has a really bad cg with all that weight in the back. You could also increase the pids just on the pitch axis to help it out a bit.

      The O3 antenna? Never thought about that i will have to look into some prints. Thanks =)

    Using Rosser presets?

    • @astr0x
      @astr0x  Před 6 dny +1

      Yeah I said "tune" in video but I meant to say preset, the 5" is using the Rosser ul5 preset on beta flight 4.4. The 3" is stock beta flight but I did do a little bit of tuning following rossers 4.4 tuning guide. The "twitch" seems to happen with stock and tune/preset in both quads.

      @@astr0x It doesn't _really_ look like it to me but it _could_ be insufficient filtering, Rossers presets are pretty aggressive as far as turning off filters. But if the 3" is mostly stock that kinda rules it out. A log would be very helpful.

    What is your ESC pwm frequency? I just saw someone mention in another video that they were getting a twitch on their Siren F3 with O3 air unit and they had to change their PWM frequency from 24khz to 48khz (or I assume by-rpm would also work) because 24khz can cause interference with the O3. I do not believe your cap, antenna, CG, or dynamic idle, would cause a twitch like that. Those things do matter but they would show up in other ways and yours all look fine.

      Thank you so much for your input and help. I think this was it, i haven't messed with any ESC firmware at all but after your recommendation i read a couple Oscar Liang articles and sure enough both my siren f3 and ul5x were set to stock of 96khz PWM, i checked both my Xilo ESC and they were 48khz PWM. Changed the 96Khz to 48khz and the little twitch is gone =). I also adjusted a couple other settings recommended by Liang and it flies even better than i had it before lol.

    its your cap voltage spike

    • @astr0x
      @astr0x  Před 2 dny

      Interesting, reading a bit about it now, thanks for the term lol, hard to google solutions without a specific word. So on my 3" a larger cap would help? On my 5" I have to room to just add a 35v 1000uf in parallel to the existing 35v 470uf, is that a bad idea or should I just swap the existing caps?

    • @Viseo3dp
      @Viseo3dp Před 2 dny

      @@astr0x change the existing ones take the 470 out and install 1000 35vlt on both you can get the 1000mf caps in small size for your 3inch drone to many caps on a build will change the way it flys so just one on each drone the 1000 cap.

      @@astr0x did this fix it? because i have twitching and dropping in my videos t0o when I'm cruising after some hard stick maneuvers and i go back into flowy flight , feels like its on the roll axis

    • @astr0x
      @astr0x  Před hodinou +1

      @@Mediphorm. I just flew 8 packs and i think i have it resolved, i didn't mess with my caps at all, i took @zdkama advice in these comments and looked at my esc firmware settings my default PWM frequency was 96KHz i set it to 48/48 and it disappeared immediately. Oscar Liang has a good article about settings and i have seen these recommended a few different places. oscarliang.com/best-blheli-32-settings/

    Your cap is to small for 6s put a 1000 35volt cap and make sure it is not flopping around like what you just showed us put two way tape under the cap it will hold it just a small piece you installed the 560 35volt cap that came with the stack only good for 4 to 5s .
