This was so helpful! I am a yoga teacher and want to make a yoga pose deck for new teachers to help them build sequences and deepened their knowledge of poses. I have also been thinking of creating an oracle deck. This really helped me to know where to look to get started. THANK YOU!

This is excellent advice/information. I really appreciate your help. I've also been pondering on the process of getting a booklet printed too but I guess that challenge can wait for the time being! I see you have other interesting videos so I've subbed. Thank you!
Yeaaa the booklet definitely would take more time but if you feel called to do it, DO IT! you can also choose to create a digital booklet that goes with the deck to eliminate more paper printing

This really inspired me to get back into my old plan of doing my Affim cards. I had mental blocks for some reason and my it more complicated. TY so much Sis 💕

Definitely do more research! I wanted to be as careful as possible but I believe Canva has changed their policies around when it comes to what can be used for resell

6:06 The Rider-Waite deck is 7cm x 12cm. I'm not sure if that was Waite's idea or if the older French cards were already that format.

Loved this video and it was super helpful. I wanted to ask (if it's alright), what did you personal deck end up costing you all together.
Sure! Since I already shipped items for my Etsy shop, I had a lot of supplies already!
I'd say I spent $250 (red bags for the deck, thank you cards, 2 trial decks, candy freebies). I used USPS small mailing boxes which you don't pay for until you ship. This meant that I could make shipping a flat rate for customers. I already had tissue paper but had I bought some new kind, that would've roughly been $20-$40. Also, I already had a shipping label maker (you don't need one but I hate writing addresses repeatedly, you can also prepay and print at USPS). I did pre-orders but had I bought some decks in bulk that would've been more money towards that initial cost.
I have procreate . I sketch then trace but coloring has been an issue for me 🤪 but want to make an affirmation deck
aha! see that was my issue too with procreate, mostly because I didn't have an iPad! You should totally do the deck though!
This was awesome! Do you have to manage shipping them to everyone or do you also use Etsy, Shopify or Amazon?
So i use squarespace for my website & I self-managed my shipping mostly because it was easier. I know some folks use a 3rd party or shopify but my orders were small enough for me to manage.
Thanks so much for this! one question when you say "make it your own" does that mean you can use graphics on Canva to print as long as you "alter" it to make it your own ie change the color, add elements etc.?
Yes!
It's not very ethical but there are certain card printers that will print copyrighted material, I wouldn't recommend fucking with that unless you don't plan on selling it though lmfao.
This is so helpful. I do have question - What size font do you use in Canva to make sure it readable if you are adding pictures?
good question, I used 21pt with a Kage Black font for the basic cards. I suppose you could go as small as 14 but wouldn't suggest lower than that. You could print it out on regular paper to see how it works!

I've wanted to make a few of my own oracle decks lately (This Video has much highly help- Thank You SO MUCH darlin) but I wanted to put image's with mine of the basic over all feeling and theme of each card, where could I find Images that I could use without a copyright on them or that I am able to use for free???
Hi!!! I apologize for not responding sooner, I've been trying to catch up on work. If you have a Canva account, they do have a clause where you're able to use their images for free. You can also google "copyright free images". AND you can use picmonkey, unsplash, and shutterstock!
You can also commission digital artists for images using Fiverr or Upwork!

It really depends! My deck was 54 cards including the instruction/about me cards.
But for regular playing cards, it’s 52. For tarot decks is 78.

How did you get the company to design each card with a different text image?
that's how MakePlaying Cards (the company) works! I selected custom design and then uploaded the set that I wanted to print. For the customizable name decks, I had to upload a new set for each name.

Absolutely! I sell the decks on my website and have been selling since I made this video. It was 1000% worthi it and I'm ready to design a new deck and do it again lol

Print ninja also requires you to purchase a minimum of 500, which might seem like a lot, but the cost per deck is a lot cheaper
YES! That was another reason I didn't go the PN route. I knew I didn't have the capacity or funds to do 500 orders. But maybe someday in the future.

1. Click Share
2. Scroll down to "download"
3. Click the little arrow on the right of the download button
4. You should see a dropdown menu under "file type"
5. Select which type you want
6. Make sure to slide the size all the way to the right if you can.
7. Then click download
