Quick question when your setting your gain and head unit with dd1 people say make your bass, treble, and mid from head unit straight flat does that mean after you set your gains and head unit with no distortion you can't move them back up?

Travis McVey, even with the same head unit, the output at distortion could vary. Unless you are getting a high-end head unit, that may or may not have cherry-picked and matched components, i.e. transistors, op-amps, capacitors, resistors, diodes and inductors. I'm sure they test the units to make sure they don't clip under a certain volume, but they are not going to take the extra step and hard program each head unit so it reaches its max volume right before clipping. That's one of my theories anyway. My other theory is some guys don't think it's loud enough till they hear distortion. If the manufacturer cut it off before that point, people may complain that it doesn't get loud enough.
Spaceman Rick also I think cuz different inputs guve diff outputs, ex:same radio but on radio mode the volume isnt as clean or loud as it is when a cd is being played.. also same could be said on Bluetooth vs a usb input modes so I think thats another reason for it imo

The layout of that head unit looks like a Toyota, I'm about to do an install on my 2015 Rav4, curious to know if there is a factory amp or anything I need to worry about before swapping the deck out.
Say you deck is putting out 3 volts and you add a 360.3 now your pre out voltage went up to 5 volts will the deck still distort at 44 (say your using the deck on this vid) or will it change?
@@marcorodriguez7748 I forgot exactly but it was a boss double din, cheap headunit and I just replaced it with a bit better one this weekend a Kenwood ddx 376bt and it does the same thing when I turn it up to max volume so I assume it doesn't distort

George Delgado headunits distort whenever you put “loudness” or some boost to the sound. Try to enable all of those and see if the headunit distorts at max volume. If not then your dd-1 might be faulty?

Where you pick he signal? RCA signal coming from dash front speakers (high V) or coming from low signal from the radio(low V)?

Well once u set every thing by the dd1 and u say adjust the bass mis or treble on the head unit or do u leave it flat?

xIIPHOENIXIIx I would set the deck first before the audio control. Then the audio control after you find max undistorted from the head unit

My car doesn't even have a CD port to play test CD. Hope they have a downloadable version of test tracks available.
