- SO MANY LIGHTFALL STORY QUESTIONS GET ANSWERS. Why was Nimbus seemingly so tone deaf? Why didn't we know anything about Neptune prior to Lightfall? Why are the people of Neomuna in a simulation?
All these questions and more, answered after the campaign!

When you get to Season of the Deep, make sure to watch the Veil containment videos. They help explain so much about what the Veil is, how it affects people and how Neomuna started in a sad and dark but realistic way.
Can I just say thank you Terra? Legitimately, going on this journey with you I think opened my eyes to a level of gross anger I’ve felt with this game by only focusing on its lows. Kind of one of those, you forget where you come from because you only remember how situations I guess.
Long time players of Destiny can be a bit…jaded. However, experiencing the journey quasi again through your new eyes brought me back and frankly, I feel like I’ve got a better and shall we say happier view of this game now.

@@terabellum This was genuinely my experience watching your videos on this too. I've felt really down about Destiny since Lightfall, but this has made me realize how much better the story actually is than I remembered, and I think it might have been a side effect of both playing it as it came out over years, and also a bit of rushing for that endgame grind and not processing all of the writing properly. I'm sure this is the experience of many jaded Destiny vets who watch your videos to reminisce on the good times, only to realize that more of it was the good times than they remember.

10 Year, Day 1 Guardian. And I have to agree. I'm jaded, but seeing New Lights genuinely adore everything the game has to offer actually does make me happy
honestly same, i have been unresonable unhappy with the game lately but these videos brough some of the joy for d2 back.
Its honestly takes a mature person to admit something like that. I am so glad people can come around to see the game and Lightfall in a more positive way. I personally enjoyed Lightfall, and found it hard to relate with a lot of the hate it was getting.

Don't know if you caught it but the black heart they keep referring to is the final boss from destiny 1's main campaign. It was an experiment of the sol divisive vex to recreate the veil for the witness
The seasons do a lot of the heavy lifting as well

Also there's more quests in Lightfall regarding the Veil Containment and various logs, they came with the seasons beginning with Deep.
This lore explain a lot about Neomuna, the Veil and what the Witness did

Little tip about the lore not displayed in the campaigns, I'd recommend the videos from My name is Byf, he is the lore master for Destiny and explains A LOT from the lore, specially what's hidden from most players
okay i forgot to bring this up last vid, but i cannot say this enough, lightfall's OST is SOOOOOOO good!! like the previous dlc's soundtracks were pretty good, but i absolutely love lightfall's ost ESPECIALLY the lite motif! my personal favorite tracks being, discipline, battle ready and tyrant overthrown, whatever the final shape has music wise has some pretty big shoes to fill.
lightfall was not the best story, but i'd argue it's far from the worst, i still had my fun, strand is SUCH a good subclass, the grapple, the threadlings, suspend being the best form of crowd control even in it's nerfed state, being able to yeet a strand ball, the biggest issue with the story was the lack of information on the veil which was brought up so many goddamn times, they did add information later, but the fact that it wasn't in the base game did kinda hurt it, there might be some other minor issues but other than that, it was fine and fairly fun, in my opinion.
When you realize Nolan North is both the voice of our Ghost and Jisu Calerando. They amount of times he has to talk to himself. lol
There's a lot of ground to cover between Lightfall and now. It's gonna be real tight but I do hope you'll get through the major seasonal story beats before the end!

A lot of the lightfall post campaign stuff is pretty good, its a lot of "set up" with the veil and whatnot, but imo its better paced than the campaign itself. Its unfortunate this recap doesn't include the raid, but it sounds like you played it off screen its got some BIG tid bits that connect back to some Witch Queen story threads, with Savathun helping stop the Witness during the first collapse, have a feeling some of those bits might be important for Final Shape. Also I think you NEED to do/watch the "parting the veil" quest, its kinda 1 giant lore bomb that helps explain a lot that the campaign skimmed over.
Also as for the Day 1 raid, my team is doing prep work too, idk how experienced your team is but to make things a little simpler for you. You don't need the seasonal artifact or a specific power level right now. Everyone will be set to the new "baseline" power, so i'd spend the next 2 weeks "practicing" and getting gear like exotics and whatever meta weapons the big build crafting guys talk about. In either case, great reaction and good luck on the raid, I think we're all gonna need it but it'll be a fun time
I read that Parting the Veil came out with Season of the Defiance so I was scared of it! I might need to squeeze it into another video somewhere.
As for Day 1 raid, I am VERY excited, I've done some early FFXIV raiding and it was a blast. The attitude of the people matter most and we have a VERY chill group! I mostly just need to farm a LOT of golf balls to masterwork armor and the like! Good luck to your team too!!
@terabellum technically I think it came out durring season of the deep, not that it really matters.
Veil containment doesnt really spoil anything if you were worried about that. Its suposed to be the follow up to learning about the veil by studying it after a while and the data you got from the vex in this video. It's full of some very big lore bombs that are gonna be important for final shape, and probably the future.
I've been around this game for about 6 years now, but only really started to experience the end game about 2 years ago when my current group took me in and showed me the ropes. TFS raid will be my fourth contest mode raid (our group has only cleared one but just missed getting Crota's End done) and it will test you in ways that you aren't familiar with. It's one of the best parts of this game though and something I wish everyone could experience, even if it's just one time. There's nothing quite like figuring out an encounter and clearing it when you're -20 and still working out mechanic and damage strategies. Also, it's been a joy watching you take in all of the stories and lore this game has to offer. It's had its low points, but it's been such a fun journey for me. Seeing you piece together story bits before things have been revealed has been fun. Look forward to the rest of your reactions.
I don’t really have anything specific to say about Lightfall, or the seasons that follow. I think, instead, I will share some stories. Pieces of lore left in the background. Perhaps people will find something appreciable in them.
1. The Speaker is more than a ceremonial role. It began during the Golden Age, where people started to get dreams, see visions. The Traveler did not speak, but it did reach out; they could hear its thoughts. The first Speaker created four tenants from listening. These follow:
_The Traveler is a force of benevolence._
_The Traveler is a sentient being with free will, dreams, hopes, and fears._
_The Traveler will save us._
_The Traveler will leave us._
During the Collapse, one of Speakers beheld the crippling of the Traveler:
“I try to aid the relief effort but my thoughts || *run* || become more and more scattered. I can't || *run* || keep separate my own mind || *run* || and the || *run run RUN RUN* || Traveler's.
“Then, suddenly, silence.
“And it's the silence that truly breaks me.”
After the Collapse, flocks of unpartnered Ghosts would follow the Speakers. Later, one would craft a mask, an amplifier meant to reestablish connection after the Traveler was maimed. You’ve seen this mask, and it can still be found, displayed in Zavala’s office.
“When I'm finished, I wear the mask. Pieces of it, not sanded down, are rough and sharp against my face, but I dream for the first time in my life.
“|| *I have cried out unheard for so long that my voice is raw.* ||”
I wonder if there’s any Speakers left to hear the Traveler now, and what it might say with what the Witness is doing now.
Veil containment should be its own video, IMO. To experience it properly would be during Season of the Deep, which Destin MIGHT have included, maybe...? But if you do it yourself, just keep in mind that you need to do it over and over again to hear all of it.

Thought!!!! Ever wonder if Rohan could become a guardian? I mean, he exhibits the traits that the travel looks for (sacrifice yada yada). Would be pretty interesting no?

Don’t worry about being raid ready in power level, as that resets, as will gear level. Just make sure you have some good damage weapons you’ll want to use and coordinate your build with your friends.
That's been the goal in between all the editing/recording. I am just trying to farm myself as many options as possible in time. 😅

The occlusion is an AI made by the collaboration of Braytech and Ishtar collective in the Spire of the Watcher dungeon facility. It's called Soteria and has vex tech as part of it so it could predict the future, the exotic bow from that dungeon has the lore of it crashing on Neptune. In the final dialogue of this quest it gives a prelude to Season of the Deep
You should definitely make sure you complete the Cloudstriders quest and read the lore on the heavy exotic glaive you get as a reward because that helps set up season of the Deep!!!!
The neomuni didn't always live in the cloudArk, it was something they did when the pyramid invasion began. One of the lore books go over the transition, for them its akin to the pandemic for us
folish or brave idk, but you got my respect for not getting the season artifact in intrest of staying true to the timeline.
