In 2020, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds teamed up to purchase the 5th tier Wrexham Football Club in the hopes of creating an underdog story the whole world could root for. The world took notice and change is afoot. After 15 painful seasons in the National League, the Club finally achieved promotion back into the English Football League. Will Wrexham AFC stand up to the challenge and rise again?

They went from promoting the mens senior squad to the entire club. They went from a episode were they learned welsh to one of the biggest mining disasters in the uk.
This is no longer a football documentury, it is so much more.

I'm from Wales and Wrecsam has been area ignored by the goverment and politicans for decades. These N. Americans have done more for the area than the British state has over the last 50 years.
So glad it's coming out right after the season wraps up. Waiting for months last year was torture.

if you had told me 3-4 yrs ago that these two would literally be the best owners in sports, I would have looked at you like you were nuts. 1st yr, they narrowly miss being promoted, then two promotions back to back, that's unheard of in just about any sport. there are a lot of owners in various sports who should be trying to copy what these two have done not only for the team but more importantly for the community for which the team resides in. truly magical stuff.
There's been lots of back to back promotions in English football in the last couple of decades. Nigel Adkins took Southampton from League One to the Championship to the Premier League in successive seasons around 2011 - the steps up are much greater than Conference to League Two. It looks fun so do enjoy yourself - but it's not unheard of :-)
The tv show is a great asset. It allows them to inject money into the club while keeping to financial fairplay rules.
My local team Bristol Rovers achieved consecutive promotions from the National League to League 1 a decade ago. Considering the National League contains many ex EFL clubs, it's not a surprise to see these types of clubs succeed in League 2 as they don't look out of place compared to Sutton, Forest Green etc.
Best part is that Wrexham got promoted last week and get to go to League One. Not even Hollywood could write a script like this.
Sure Hollywood could have, it would never have been bought or filmed since it would have been too unbelievable.

One of the most inspiring stories, especially to my granddaughters is the amazing journey of the women’s team. Thank you so much for giving them the credit for all the hard work they put in each and every game to represent the team and the town. ❤

What a trailer, that rocky theme tune was a fantastic inspired choice, makes it even more thrilling. From a local Wrexham guy I know the story but Still love seeing the behind the scenes on my local club. Can't wait.

Two very humble guys. I've loved the documentaries and watching Wrexham succeed. I've felt both the ups and the downs and throughout the season, felt the pain and the joys of the owners, the team, the town. I've been checking their league to see how they are doing...... and I'm not even a football fan! I don't think it would have been the same with anyone else, but these two.

Ryan and Rob simply operate on a different level than the rest of us. Who would have ever thought these 2 dudes from the entertainment world would put so much into Wrexham that they essentially willed them back from near nonexistence as a club? Certainly not me, but I'm so glad they did. They've restored hope for so many generations of fans and that's on top of being actors while also slinging gin plus owning a cellphone network. Yeah, they're both a different kind of dude.
Their true talents come from the understanding of a story and how to promote that story for the good.
I think they’re being successful bc they’re not doing it for the profit. To me they’re investing in people and it’s paying off big! It’s such a beautiful thing to see.
On the heels of some recent good Wrexham news, looking forward to Season 3.
As much as we despised Wrexham as a Stockport fan I really respect the way they've handled when they lost out 2 seasons ago, won the title last season and it was a 3 horse race between us, Wrexham and Mansfield and even though we one-upped Wrexham TWICE now, it's a pleasure to come up with you guys and I shall be watching this year's documentary not just because of the 5-0 win at home but hoping for a party atmosphere next weekend on the final day of the season. Also kudos to those who edited this trailer makes me want to see it soon
Fair play to you mate...though I can't see how you all _despised Wrexham_ . As footie fans we are ALL different. We all follow our team(s) but 'individually'...we are all different!
As a GROUP of people there are, and probs always will be, a few - or even a LOT - of choppsy dickheads in every single club - *without exception* .
As you mentioned, 2 seasons ago, we lost out to Grimsby in the PO's...but that didn't stop many of us donating to their fund to help pay for their less-fortunate fans who couldn't afford to go to the final, just mere days after us losing out!
Hope you enjoy the new series - we both got what we wanted, you got your (deserved) title, and we went straight up too.... 👍

One of the best produced sports docuseries/reality series (whatever it’s called) ever. Real drama matched with deep human interest stories. Congrats to Wrexham on the promotion!

We were at the Man U match in San Diego; that hit on Mullin was brutal and gut wrenching.

I wonder when the tone will start to change as getting closer to the Championship is really getting into serious money being spent. I think this series is probably more profitable to them than the running of the football club in all honesty

I think it’d be a massive success story if they managed to get into the championship, anything above that is really a gift from god but to get promoted next season, 3 seasons on the bounce, that’d be astronomical, but if it takes a few seasons that would be incredible too. If they managed to get to the Premier League the same way clubs like Luton, Hull, Swansea and Cardiff have in the past, that’d be a dream like situation and might even top Leicester City’s winning season.
Other teams have ran that gauntlet in recent history. I'm not sure about the financial stability of the club if it does go up 2 more times, that and the stadium would be a huge concern for the premier league.
There is definitely a precedent for teams that have ran the gauntlet before, Bournemouth and Luton have both done it. Club facilities would really need to be dramatically improved for it to be sustainable though.

I had been having some serious trouble falling asleep at a reasonable hour for quite a long time. This show is a miracle. It made me fall asleep so fast, and so hard last night. It's now what I'm gonna watch right before bed, because it's a straight up sleeping pill. Thanks guys. These two usually crack me up and entertain me. But this.time their focus was putting me to sleep. Cool to see they aren't just one trick ponies. Lol

I’m DYING for this new season. These delays suck but I get it because they were promoted again…. I’m surprised at how much I love this series but these guys incorporating the town is exactly why I love it… especially compared to all the other soccer docuseries they’re making and it just doesn’t have the heart and soul of this series. Make Wrexham merch more avail in the US!

The off-season is going to be so hard for the Manager. As diiv 1 is a big step up in quality of oppenents, and having to decide which players who helped Wrexham get promotion have to be let go as they might not be good enough.
