    I've watched several of your videos and nobody breaks it down like you do. I have been skating without blocks while I save up for a pair and I almost never see anyone do tricks without them, let alone give a comparison of the difference. Also, your control is insane!

    Oh my gosh! This is so helpful ! I’ve been really struggling to understand the motion and posture of stalling without blocks and all the comparison videos are so helpful!
    I really like how you show side view of the body position of a stall with and without blocks! I was think I was aiming to copy people with blocks and I didn’t know how I was supposed to get that far vertical! Now I know I need to push my hips forwards, but I’ll still be at more of an angle than those with blocks.
    Im struggling to come off the coping after a forwards stall. It’s really hard to lift my feet to roll off the coping. I end up stepping off and then I’ll be on my toestop on the back wheel! I do have big 64mm wheels, and the shape is different from most park wheels I see. It has a right angled edge rather than a rounded one edges. Do you think the size is making it harder? Or should it still be doable? I get scared in the moment, whenever I’m on the coping. It feels like if I lift my wheels up that much Im just gonna fall backwards off the ramp onto my back!

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  Před 2 lety +2

      Having larger wheels will make it a little harder as you will have to lift your front wheels more than if you were skating on skate park wheels which are around 58mm. But I think it should be doable.
      An option could be to see if someone is able to skate beside you to hold your hand/ arm to help you balance and not fall back? Or you can attempt it on a small ramp with a gradual transition?

      @@ShortysSkateSeries Thank you!!! I just bought some park wheels because I think they're needed in the long run, anyways! Thanks for all your no block trick ideas! I have so many goals to work towards once I get the hang of regular plate stalls! ^^

      Oh, and can you stall and go over spines without blocks too?

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  Před 2 lety +2

      I’ve never tried but I think it would have to be more roll/ step onto the front coping with your leading foot, step over the front coping and into the back coping with your back foot, so you can drop back in with your leading foot.

    Hey Shorty, could you do an advanced stalls/grinds on ramps/ledges compilation video? For box, acid, mizou etc. with the names and the foot placements and maybe showing them like backside too? I'm trying to learn grinds with different foot placements but I don't know what to call them and it makes it hard for me to differentiate them 😅I could find a bit on inline grinds but not much at all for quads! Thanks!

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  Před 2 lety

      I think take it slow. It's a totally different feeling so you just have to build up your muscle memory. Remember it's more a pivot motion now. Feel free to DM me on Instagram @shortstop.6 with some video and I can see if I have some specific tips

    thanks so much for this shorty! do you have tips on fakie stalling/backside 180s/full cabs without blocks? i find it pretty scary because it feels like my body has to be leaning forward into the ramp quite a bit…

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  Před 2 lety +1

      Start with getting used to the hooking feeling and the angle of your body with fakie stalls (remember to lift your heels as you hook on). This will be the end position (body and foot angle) for when landing your backside 180 and full cabs, so muscle memory will help with getting over the fear.

    Can such block fit to any rollerskate?

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  Před rokem

      Roller skate plates have different degree of kingpins. eg the Bont Tracer/ Prodigy plate is 20 deg. So slide blocks are made to fit the degree of kingpin so some may not fit on different degree. However, most metal bars can be bent/ modify to fit if you have the tools or hand strength.
