  • We tried something we’ve never done before: we used a float rig to go pier fishing. We grew so tired of getting snagged, so we tried this simple hack to fix it AND IT WORKED. We were able to catch a multitude of fish using this method, and the best part: WE DIDN’T GET SNAGGED ONCE!
We are fishing on Jacksonville Pier in Jacksonville, Florida. We met up with some buddies of ours just to have a good time and see what we could catch. Using a float rig on a pier might not be unusual for some people, but it is a new method for us. Tell us your favorite way to pier fish in the comments below!

This is y i don't use light tackle... i know it's more fun but I'd rather land the fish than get spooled or broken off. Usually 4000+ reels and 20 lb minimum (usually braid) line.

You're using a popping float, but not popping it. Missing out on the sound that mimics a feeding fish.

That setup on the piers down here Texas is definitely a trout slayer here too. Artificial or a well hooked dead shrimp with a popping cork is like the ice cream truck song to redfish here maybe you can try that.

Yea, I tried fishing the bay from a pier for the first time and got snagged 2x last night. LOL I usually fish freshwater and wanted to try saltwater. I didn't catch anything but I did have some nice nibbles on my line. I think I saw baby snook deep in the water down below. I used some rubber swim baits and believe it or not something was nibbling at my chicken heart I put on my hook. LOL Was fun even though I didn't catch anything. My first experience and it can only get better. I also learned that it's better to fish during the week, the weekends are way too busy with everyone fishing. Thanks for the video!!

My old 92 Grand Prix with the 3.1... 60 degree V6, never really had a serious issue. Alternator went out once, and the ignition pack. Other issues were not engine related, but electrical stuff and some vacuum hoses, but ran great until like 2012 when I sold it, it had over 200K on the odo.

I had that hard run happen to me recently. Probably a barracuda. No way to slow it down and it was under a dock to boot. The braid almost cut into me when I tried to cup the spool for additional drag. Never saw the fish but will never forget it. Also a shrimp for bait. Nice video.

They just recently closed that pier for two years to repair last year's storm damage.
