Mori's performance was just that, a performance. A total package of a well thought out delivery with modulations in tone and volume to envoke emotions and act out the sentiment of the song. She did that while she smiled all the way through, threw in tastefully her signature sounds and politely acknowledge her fans at the end. :)
I think for this particular song Morisette is more suited even now. It is good to keep in mind, however, that Lucy was doing this at fourteen years of age, while Moristtte did her version at twenty-two.
Both artistically and articulately great and wonderful. Both gave justice to the song. There should be no comparison as each gives their own rendition and emotion to the song disregarding their ages. :) However the 14 year old is more impressive in that at her age, she is less seasoned than the great Morrissette.
Both great singers to be able to even take this song on. However unfortunately Lucy is up against probably the best female singer of the past century. Watch Rise Up and you will see what i mean.
Lucy is a great singer, but it’s hard to compare to mori. She’s a generational talent. Sadly, not a lot of people know about her. Morissette has lower range but she also has all the way to a whistle. I think 5 octaves but don’t quote me on that. But she does have a whistle. Check out her cover of I wanna know what love is and 2017 Asia song festival where she does a mash up of Mariah Carey’s emotion and best of my love.
Morrisette is 7 years older than Lucy. I believe Lucy was around 14 at this time. I would love to hear Lucy redo this song now. Loren Allred is actually the singer of this song from The Greatest Showman. I was worried that Jeff was going to pair Lucy up with Loren. It’s a very big song for such a little girl. Lucy did not hit that last high note, which seals the deal. Morrisette hit it. Lucy could hit it now. Not sure this was a fair comparison? I’m a little bummed out. My fictional granddaughter kind of got her ass handed to her.😢
Our fictional granddaughter held her own. Somehow she knew I was going to suggest this. She dusted off her ass and went to work. Every thing she puts out is better than the last. A remarkable feat. Don't fret too much, i heard "someone" put her up against Barbra. I think she will be fine there also. I hope to live long enough to see this girl in full bloom. Loren Allred discovered Morissette a few years ago and sought out her to do a dual performance with Mori on TikTok. Loren knows Mori took the song to another level and just wanted to let her know. Now that’s respect and acknowledgment to another level when you see another artist blow your mind.
Lucy is very good, she has a beautiful tone. I guess age is the perfect excuse, but she sounds to me like a mezzo soprano, Morissette is a full Lyric soprano with the widest vocal range in Asia. I don't think Lucy can hit those notes now, but it doesn't matter. She's a very special talent.
David Foster wrote the musical score for this song. He is on tour with Morissette because he was so impressed by her version of the song. Both of the on stage is awesome
He is NOT "On Tour" with Morissette, he went to Manilla to Perform a Series of shows for a week. and she , out of ALL the Great Singers there was the one chosen to Perform these songs, Nothing else need be said.

Lucy was very young here 14 I think and even at this age held her own Lucy has greater power and voice control. Morrisette´s version certainly was not better just different. If Lucy sang that now at 19 you would here the difference her voice has matured so much more It is richer and her low notes are beautiful. She is one of the greatest female vocalists.

I have listened to many videos of both Lucy and Morrisette. Even though I am a fan of Lucy and think she is talented, Morissette is definitely on a level above.

They are both great singers. Here in this analysis, one needs to take into account that there is a 7 year age difference which gives Mori a big advantage. Kind of like comparing a great record breaking athlete in high school competing against an Olympic athlete. It is a mismatch. Lucy today is musically and vocally well beyond what she was at age 14. But even at age 14 Lucy was incredible and outstanding.
I cut my teeth on this song with Mori and on the WISH bus she was not even feeling well that day. Nothing against Lucy but Mrs. Lamar can take on any female pop singer on the planet.

lol comparing the two at that point in time is a mute issue. I love Mori's voice without a doubt definitely upper tier. However Ms Thomas at fourteen here is a unfair comparison. Lucy is now what 18 years of age. She has no zenith in her voice potential. In my opinion Ms. Thomas will ascend to the likes of Adelle, and Whitney. Her voice clarity, and perfect vibrato are sublime .And her air flow control already surpasses singers twice her age. And frankly Thomas's lower registers are much richer than Mori's.

They are both great covers and very different. Lucy was 14, I think Morrisette 22 at the time so has a more developed range. Lucy definitely has the greater power and voice control and would love to hear her sing again in 3 years at equivalent age for comparison. That being said love both covers and would happily listen to either.

Lucy Thomas' fans say it's unfair to compare the two versions because she was only 14 when she sang hers. Morissette was 21. At 18 Lucy is more developed. The only way to really compare the two is for Lucy to sing it today and compare it with Morissette's version at 21.

You have an apple vs oranges comparison here. There is an 8 year difference in their ages. Nor can you judge each of their abilities by just one performance. This is my first time hearing Morrisette and I think she is incredibly talented. However, I must admit that my prejudices are with Lucy. Today, Lucy's voice quality and technical ability in voice control is unsurpassed by anyone else I have ever heard.

Both these young women have beautiful tones which sit right in the pocket and like Morissette Lucy has developed as she's gotten a little older however this is one of Morissette signature covers and not even the original artists can top her when she's on fire (re: Ondra Day, Little Mix, Mariah Carey).

I know you are a Lucy fan but I wanted you to meet Mori, and I see I found her a new fan. My mission was a success. I'm sure the Mori fans are going to fill your phone with suggestions. Her range goes up to whistle, hold on to your hat, amazing. Lucy has video going back to when she was nine, already power vocals. Both covers are very, very good. In my opinion Lucy exhibited better breath control and gave the impression of having more in reserve however great job by both ladies.
Morrisette is the very good but I prefer Lucy Thomas version of this song. Her voice is much beautiful tone quality, the she has perfect pitch and she is the best female vocalist in the world.

Not really fair. Morissette sang that 5 years ago. If you listen to her latest version with David Foster you will appreciate just how much Morissette has improved. In fact she is IMO the best vocalist/performer on the planet right now. The other girl has a beautiful voice but she is simply not in the same class as Morissette.

These comparison videos are truly entertaining and give people an idea of the abilities of other singers they don't know about. There always be 'fans' who decide to ignore the opposing artist and claim their preference is better. Cognitive dissonance can spark a reaction. Some people hold on to the theory that singing is "subjective" or "opinions". When someone says a singer is better, it is just stating that a particular singer has more talent and more skills than the other. The music itself is subjective, but the amount of talent and skills is not.

We have different preferences in MUSIC genre, some singers are dedicated to specific genre because that's their comfort zone, that's what fits their limited talent. You set up this girl who sang first (don't remember her name) against Morissette, the best female singer of our times? Poor girl. She avoided the low notes, because she probably can't hit them, she struggled with the other notes and could not hold them, zero breath control. She delivered no emotions at all. Sorry, but the girls in the beginner course of music school sound the same. Not to blame her or anything. This song is simply beyond her abilities. But it is unfair to compare her with Morissette who delivered a perfect and powerful performance.
My point, too. I see comments here that Lucy did better, or the excuse that she was younger. Look up Morissette when she was 16 in the Voice of the Philippines. Lucy sings this song now and I don't think it can compare to that version of Morissette (even better than the original).

A little advise from a you tube trekkie. When you are doing comparison videos, try and compare two comparable singers. This is like comparing a volkswagen to a lambraghini. God bless young Lucy who is a good singer but she is not near Morissette's level. Morissette is a top rated world class singer. This does not help young Lucy. Just my opinion.

This is not even close. To compare Lucy to Morissette is unfair to her. It’s embarrassing. There are more singers in the Philippines that’s way beyond Lucy in covering Never Enough. Lush is a wonderful singer but it’s very on the lighter side that lacks power, strength, grit, etc., when compared to great vocalist who’ve covered the song.

These are not subjective things -- they are quantifiable, and thus she is not anywhere near the talent that Morissette is. Lucy is talented for sure, but no she is not in the same league. Just like me singing in the shower isn't in the same league as either of these two singers. P.S. If you put "vs" in the title, that automatically implies a competition.

I don't think Lucy is a vocalist, just yet. Morissette is one. A true Diva.
Mori's performance was just that, a performance. A total package of a well thought out delivery with modulations in tone and volume to envoke emotions and act out the sentiment of the song. She did that while she smiled all the way through, threw in tastefully her signature sounds and politely acknowledge her fans at the end. :)
Probably Miss Amon's voice is among the most beautiful and powerful of all time. 👸🙌
I think for this particular song Morisette is more suited even now. It is good to keep in mind, however, that Lucy was doing this at fourteen years of age, while Moristtte did her version at twenty-two.
Both artistically and articulately great and wonderful. Both gave justice to the song. There should be no comparison as each gives their own rendition and emotion to the song disregarding their ages. :) However the 14 year old is more impressive in that at her age, she is less seasoned than the great Morrissette.

Lucy is a great singer, but it’s hard to compare to mori. She’s a generational talent. Sadly, not a lot of people know about her. Morissette has lower range but she also has all the way to a whistle. I think 5 octaves but don’t quote me on that. But she does have a whistle.

Loren Allred is actually the singer of this song from The Greatest Showman. I was worried that Jeff was going to pair Lucy up with Loren. It’s a very big song for such a little girl. Loren Allred discovered Morissette a few years ago and sought out her to do a dual performance with Mori on TikTok. Loren knows Mori took the song to another level and just wanted to let her know. Now that’s respect and acknowledgment to another level when you see another artist blow your mind.
Lucy is very good, she has a beautiful tone. I guess age is the perfect excuse, but she sounds to me like a mezzo soprano, Morissette is a full Lyric soprano with the widest vocal range in Asia. I don't think Lucy can hit those notes now, but it doesn't matter. She's a very special talent.

Lucy was very young here 14 I think and even at this age held her own Lucy has greater power and voice control. Morrisette´s version certainly was not better just different. If Lucy sang that now at 19 you would here the difference her voice has matured so much more It is richer and her low notes are beautiful. She is one of the greatest female vocalists.

They are both great singers. Here in this analysis, one needs to take into account that there is a 7 year age difference which gives Mori a big advantage. Kind of like comparing a great record breaking athlete in high school competing against an Olympic athlete. It is a mismatch. Lucy today is musically and vocally well beyond what she was at age 14. But even at age 14 Lucy was incredible and outstanding.

Her voice clarity, and perfect vibrato are sublime .And her air flow control already surpasses singers twice her age. And frankly Thomas's lower registers are much richer than Mori's.

They are both great covers and very different. Lucy was 14, I think Morrisette 22 at the time so has a more developed range. This is my first time hearing Morrisette and I think she is incredibly talented. However, I must admit that my prejudices are with Lucy. Her range goes up to whistle, hold on to your hat, amazing. Lucy has video going back to when she was nine, already power vocals. I'm trying to find some vs for her early stuff but who do you put with a 9-14 year old one in billion. Take a look at that Wish bus. Not really fair. Morissette sang that 5 years ago. If you listen to her latest version with David Foster you will appreciate just how much Morissette has improved. In fact she is IMO the best vocalist/performer on the planet right now. The other girl has a beautiful voice but she is simply not in the same class as Morissette.

These comparison videos are truly entertaining and give people an idea of the abilities of other singers they don't know about. There always be 'fans' who decide to ignore the opposing artist and claim their preference is better. Cognitive dissonance can spark a reaction. Some people hold on to the theory that singing is "subjective" or "opinions". When someone says a singer is better, it is just stating that a particular singer has more talent and more skills than the other. The music itself is subjective, but the amount of talent and skills is not.

Fan is short for fanatic, where objectivity is clouded. All the stats and performances are there to determine who's better. We have different preferences in MUSIC genre, some singers are dedicated to specific genre because that's their comfort zone, that's what fits their limited talent. That's why there's only one singer able to do what Mariah did. They don't have that specific talent. All singers sing, but they don't sing equal, and that's not an opinion.

You set up this girl who sang first (don't remember her name) against Morissette, the best female singer of our times? Poor girl. She avoided the low notes, because she probably can't hit them, she struggled with the other notes and could not hold them, zero breath control. She delivered no emotions at all. Sorry, but the girls in the beginner course of music school sound the same. Not to blame her or anything. This song is simply beyond her abilities. But it is unfair to compare her with Morissette who delivered a perfect and powerful performance.
My point, too. I see comments here that Lucy did better, or the excuse that she was younger. Look up Morissette when she was 16 in the Voice of the Philippines. Lucy sings this song now and I don't think it can compare to that version of Morissette (even better than the original).

A little advise from a you tube trekkie. When you are doing comparison videos, try and compare two comparable singers. This is like comparing a volkswagen to a lambraghini. God bless young Lucy who is a good singer but she is not near Morissette's level. Morissette is a top rated world class singer. This does not help young Lucy. Just my opinion.

This is not even close. To compare Lucy to Morissette is unfair to her. It’s embarrassing. There are more singers in the Philippines that’s way beyond Lucy in covering Never Enough. Lush is a wonderful singer but it’s very on the lighter side that lacks power, strength, grit, etc., when compared to great vocalist who’ve covered the song.

I'm not aware of different leagues singing is not a competition , all singers have different vocal range some are Soprano , mezzo soprano , contralto, tennor , baritone, bass, etc etc . are there leagues for each one .?
