    It's so rare to find an intellectual and a theorist who has the courage to experiment with reality, to walk the talk, to challenge the theoretical through direct, courageous journeying. I resonate with Chris on his journey, and recognize so many truths. Mostly, from what life has shown me, psychedelics are not used as entheogens - tools to have the experience of the divine - and so much respect for taking the time to develop the ability to recall and digest the experience that cannot be put into words. I found that particularly impossible. I love the fact that equal weight is given to the heart and the head. Beautiful and surprising interview. Thank you Chris and Iain. Much respect. Keep shining.

    Wonderful discussion. Around two years ago I had the most life changing experience with LSD. I've thought about it almost on a daily basis ever since. It feels almost like, with hindsight, I had opened a door into a timeless place of learning and infinite love. For what seemed like seconds in our earth time, my consciousness was taken to a distant galaxy, where I was left to stare at a moon like planet for centuries, alone and lonely. I turned my head to the right and I was once more back in this earthly realm. It's so difficult to place into words that profound feeling of protracted time, and its subsequent effect on my being. I've tried to describe a small part of the 12 hour or so experience. To say it was without doubt one of the single most important days of my life, would be an understatement.

    I am a very strong believer in afterlife. Many years ago I had a very close friend. Who has now passed away.back in 2001 on the last day I visited my friend. When I’m not on his door he invited me in and he told me he had something to tell me. He asked me to sit down he took my hand and told me I must listen and I must pass these words on to everyone.As he held my hand he was crying with joy. He told me that he was woken up in the night by this bright light .and this figure walked out of the bright light . And he told me that Jesus that you see on the cross does not look anything like he does on the cross.but there is a God. He passed away the next day.?

    This process of opening and closing, the 'spandha' of universe propels form to higher expressions of the Dharmakaya. Carlos Castaneda wrote about the process of recollection. All of us get this ah ha moments when a memory of experience awakens and we think 'Ah so, that what it meant'. Years later we may recollect the same experience and yet another layer of meaning is unpealed revealing another dimension of understanding.

    The ego is like the mythical dragon. If you attack it, or feed it (with attention or psychedelic drugs) it will multiply or change it's appearances. Then you are still lost in it, and even more, no matter how special it feels. Transcending is about learning to ignore the ego and reside in the stillness of the self. There is no shortcut via the ego, not even one that takes 20 years and seems scientific or methodic. That's all mind. Enlightenment is not for the ego, it's from the ego. Just meditate and experience the stillness you are.

    What is that around Christopher's neck?
    On the "Adventures Through The Mind" podcast, he mentions (1h7m) that his first wife studied meditation at a 3 year retreat in Santa Fe, New Mexico.. anyone know the name of the center? Is it Henry Shukman's Mountain Cloud Zen Center from the book "Zen the Authentic Gate"?
    In that interview, Chris also mentions that he's looking forward to connecting to the infinite when he dies.. so does he believe one's consciousness as an individual exists after dying? If so, it sounds terrifying.. a few trillion years fine, but I'd opt-out of a consciousness that never ends!
    Regarding the 550ug lsd dose, what would be the equivalent in Psilocybin? A hero's dose 5g? Paul Stamets on the Tim Ferris' podcast talks about his time taking 20g of mushroom! But how many grams of (dried?) mushrooms would you need to get an active dose of 2g? Or thoughts on Jim Fadiman's micro-dose protocol (10ug of lsd every 3rd day)? 25mg of Psilocybin requires 5g of (dried?) mushrooms?
    What about 1P-LSD? It's seems as it's inexpensive and legal in many places (Canada, Germany, etc).
    BTW, Iain McNay kinda looks like Edward Muscare / Lars Ulrich!

    • @spyorgclubbord9520
      @spyorgclubbord9520 Před 4 lety

      Ben Nguyen to compare LSD dosage to psilocybin you really need to account for strain variations because some strains can be 5 times more potent than others. 1P is about equally potent to LSD, it is theorized that it is a prodrug to LSD and converts to LSD in your system

      The batpap host is not really pro psychedelics from what I've seen (good guy with good intentions overall it seems) and this could possibly be the reason Chris didn't open up fully.
      LSD is a non-specific amplifier only and the states of consciousness he went into are "real" as real as advanced meditation.

    Reading this guys book I almost expected to see the buddha himself caught on video tape or something but chris bache seems to be just an ordinary guy with fears and desires like everyone else...? Either LSD is just giving him some kind of mental circus and his experiences weren't that real....either my perception is off and I'm looking for the wrong things....or maybe buddha was really just that great and holy of a person that he's gone even so far beyond bache that he's even further? But reading the book it seemed like Bache went super far out to the diamond light, somehow buddha integrated the diamond light more into his daily life then? My main question is basically how can Bache go through all the things he did in his book and still seem like a completely normal guy? I was expecting a radiant glow, some kind of holy aura maybe, maybe reality just becomes more ordinary the further out you go? So that would mean the furthest out people are the ones in the most completely ordinary lives of all? Idk just some thoughts. I was kind of expecting a sadhguru, ram dass, dalai lama type....interesting how reality is so different than what you expect. Maybe I need to see more clearly.

    • @justbreakingballs
      @justbreakingballs Před 2 lety +1

      I think you are barking up the wrong tree there looking for some sort of glow or special signs. He is a normal human just like all the humans you mention. It makes no difference if you light candles and wear a robe or eat a sandwich in shorts and flip flops. Don't look for anything special from anyone.

      @Green Dholia - If I may…? Reading your comment note that Chris does not ‘meet your expectations’ - Therein is the key.
      Expectations lead us all to disillusionment. By giving up expectations we become free to experience and accept what IS.
      Give up expectations and stop making judgements… they are impediments. In Bache’s defense I would point to what a sweet ‘normal’ guy HH the Dalai Lama is… Buddha Gautama and Jesus of Nazareth were both enlightened and very humble as well… wearing simple robes, dusty sandals, hanging with common folk… except our ‘expectations’ want them to be something other…? Missing the moon by staring at the pointing finger.
