The fact that Rashid is so candid about not developing the slower ball on account of not having consistent longer format experience is just sad.
The BCCI, ECB and CA ought to do more for Associates if they care about tests. India should invite them to play Ranji Trophy winners/India As. More matches with the main team under a Rahane and after resting main players, could also help (like in 2018).
They'll lose a lot before they win but that's expected and how someone like Rashid will learn

I always remember Adil Rashid’s dismissal of K L Rahul in the 2018 test series. That was just as good as Shane Warne’s ‘ ball of the century ‘ to Mike Gatting.

Khan is crying out to play the longer format. I wish the ICC would give smaller nations the opportunity to play more test matches, rather than worrying about TV revenue.
It’s not the ICC making those decisions, it’s the individual boards making those decisions.
The big three and South Africa are the only places that have crowds and large TV audiences for test cricket.
Yep it’s the nations who decide that. If anything there’s going to be less, not more. South Africa are playing 3/4 years per year now. Unfortunately for people like us for whom test match is the pinnacle, it’s a gone era now. T20 leagues are the top level of the game now.

The hardest thing to get right for a leg spinner learning their trade is to get consistent line and length. Being able to spin a ball left right or on with the arm without those two elements means nothing if a leggie hopes to progress.

My lad is learning leg and is quite naturally wrist spin, the only thing with youth cricket is the lack of fielding to bring the catches for the hard work from the spinners.
It's high time for top teams like Australia NZ sa eng pak wi to conduct atleast 2 match test series against Afghanistan ....

IMO If I have to pick one along with rashid then either of Adam zampa or hasaranga would be the second one rn. Adil rashid bowled his best in 2018 but since then not so much.
