Man I love Saturdays 🙏
Both of this year's White Peony teas are amazing. The Zhenghe edged out the Fuding for me this time. Fuding is perfection, well balanced, full fruit and cake. But the Zhenghe is delicious and slightly more of an adventure. The flavours aren't quite as perfectly rounded but in a way more interesting. I think it's similar to the slightly more raucous nature of Chinese versus Taiwanese teas. The more precise and uniform the tea, the slightly more predictable and less individual. I love the adventure and that's why I appreciate Don's curation. Meileaf has challenged and stretched my tea palate and I can't wait for some new discoveries.
Thanks for the detailed descriptions. LOVE the tea at Mei Leaf! Best high quality value selections in the tea world in my opinion.
another great video Don
He, that is funny. My order with your White Peony as well as Zhenghe White Peony arrived just today. I think I'll keep that video for later today when I test them next to each other. Have to finish my sour sap session first :)
I read that white Zhenghe tea is better for aging because it is mostly dried at lower temperatures so the enzymes are still working. However I don't have enough experience with white teas to confirm it. What is your opinion?
I have got Zhenghe Dabai Bai Mu Dan Bai Lu from Jinping, November 2013, and it is great tea. Quite strong even when it is winter tea. I bought the whole 350g cake and after two years I know I should have bought at least two more.
