The gurdwara is known as Dera Sahib at which Guru Arkansas Dev attained martyrdom. It’s called ‘Dera’ since Sikhs feel the Guru still lives at his dera (residence). Anyway it’s a great experience to visit Dera Sahib In Lahore which itself is mesmerising. Tributes to those who are keeping the monument in original shape and form. Thanks

Nadir Shah didn't give the Kohinoor to Shah Shuja. The Kohinoor was taken by Nadir Shah after the sack of Delhi and looting of the Mughal treasure ; after Nadir Shah of Persia died his Afghan general Ahmad Shah Durrani took the Kohinoor and he also founded the Durrani kingdom of Afghanistan. His descendant Shah Shuja inherited the Kohinoor diamond but while in exile in Punjab , he had to cede the gem to Maharaja Ranjit Singh ji. Later when the British annexed Punjab in 1849 they got hold of it.

few corrections here! First, The Koh-E-Noor Diamond was a stone in bajuband(Armband), worn by Sher-E-Panjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh. when he first saw his horse Laili/Asp-E-Laila, he was fascinated by the beauty then he gifted this bajuband to his horse by himself. Second, There is no Sati Pratha in Sikhism, few of his wives were deliberately thrusted into Sher-E-Panjab’s burning pyre ‘cause they were the only ones who started poisoning the Maharaja. This was the only reason where only few of them “Pahadi Maharanis”were Sati’d by his enemies. It wasn’t Maharani Mehtab Kaur, Datar Kaur nor was Maharani Jinda Kaur. Ring a bell?
P.S. thanks for making and sharing this footage🙂🙏🏻

Achievements by rulers in the great Indian subcontinent have yet not been fully understood and recorded. But this presentation was a good effort to show the samadhi of Maharaj Ranjit Singh in Lahore, and related history which millions of Indians would appreciate.
Division of territory in 1947 was a sinister by the Britishers. We can reverse the division in hearts created by politics of hatred in the post independence era, by bringing the hearts closer by correct and unbiased information.

Good presentation Urooj Ali. You did an excellent job showing extreme respect and admiration for the pious place as well as the Sikh religion and the holy book. Your narration was simple and straight giving important points of Sikh religion and history. I am fortunate to have visited Gurdwara Dera Sahib twice, stairs lead to the Samadhi of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and his grandson Kanwer Naunihal Singh, whom the traitor Dhian Singh killed. The whole of Lahore is full of Sikh relics which remind you of the glorious past of the Sikhs. Love from Chandigarh - India.
