All of the very regrettable parish mergers and closures, the loss of our seminary and bankruptcy of the Diocese and loss of our seminary can be traced to one problem: clerical sexual abuse, its tolerance, denial, cover-up, and now, the flood of lawsuits assailing the Diocese. The substantial decline in attendance of faithful catholics at holy Mass in Buffalo on Sundays can be traced to the loss of the catholic faith by our luke-warm clergy (if they were faithful to Jesus Christ, sodomy and pornography would not be tolerated, sexually perverted priests would be removed and laicized, and bishops would not lie to the people, deny, and cover-up these crimes for decades. What are people to think when they witness priests and bishops behaving in this manner?) and the loss of the trust of catholics in our clergy, both the fault of the clergy and their bishops. It is a sad indictment that our clergy and Church hierarchy have more faith in money and none in God except for their empty words. Our Lord warned us "Woe to him by whom scandal does come." Trust is a very hard gift to regain once it has been lost.

We have some rather cowardly bishops. The saints worked at building things up not closing them down.
