As a retired L & D nurse, I’m impressed with( the level of care you have gotten. L&D nurses are a special breed as are NICU nurses. We all love our jobs, our moms, babies, dads and families. It doesn’t matter where you live or hospital you use, the love and care is there. Take care, thank you for filming and posting in the mist of a very busy life. Violet is beautiful and is a special bonus to your family!

While I do love L & D nurses, I have to say I have a tremendous amount of respect for other specialty nurses as well. I have dealt with so many, and trauma nurses, oncology nurses, and transplant medicine nurses are just a few specialty nurses I have been awed by. Nurses with a passion for what they do are just special no matter what. From the RNs to the CNAs they all love their patients and families and they form incredible teams with the different doctors they work with. So no disrespect intended to L and D nurses. I just wanted to recognize a few others too.

Did anyone else notice how much Lauren literally LIT UP when she looked at Violet laying in her bed? Lauren was GLOWING and the love she has for precious Violet just floods out through the camera. You have such a BEAUTIFUL and loving family, a testament to the great parents they have. Oh how I miss hearing those sweet baby sounds when they are sleeping. Violet will continue to grow and very soon will be able to go home and be showered with the love of her big brothers and the rest of the family. I know the boys are probably anxious to get to see and hold her. May God continue to bless and keep you all in His loving and protective arms.

As a retired NICU RN, may I suggest that you bring home an extra baby hat for Miss Luna, so that she can get used to the baby's scent. People always think of their dogs, but our kitties are important, too! You are doing an amazing job handling all of this, mama. I know how exhausting, but very important, it is to be present for all your children. Violet is precious! I know she is thriving with all your TLC. Sending love and hugs from Savannah, GA.🩷🫂🙏🎀

She’s doing fantastic! My son was in NICU for 34 days. He’s 33 now. It was 1 1/2 hrs to home, so I stayed at Ronald McDonald House. When we brought him home he cried so much in the car. I had my husband turn the light on and he stopped crying. I realized that he wasn’t used to the dark. There are always lights and noise in the communal NICU.

The NICU is an emotional roller coaster, my oldest was in for 29 days, i was unable to hold him for 28 of those, due to the surgery he had.. praying for you and the family. ❤❤❤❤

My daughter and her husband had twin girls at 29 weeks, they spent 90 days going to and spending the whole day in the NICU, she pumped every 2-3 hours around the clock, the girls were very slow to drink from the bottle but had no other health issues…they never took to breastfeeding so she exclusively pumped and bottle fed her milk for a year….she had three freezers full of stored milk and used only those the last few months….the worst part was all the washing and sterilization of parts …. She just had a full term baby boy and is really enjoying all the things she missed out on with her girls … the NICU is a very hard experience and one that you will never forget
Yes it is. I went with my daughter when her daughter was airlifted hours away from home. It’s been almost 7 months now and I’m so glad we didn’t have to be there too long. We’ve been back for a surgery but that was in a different ward. The first stay my granddaughter was on a floor with 80 babies. It was so exhausting.

I had 3 NICU babies and our NICUs here in Australia are nothing as good as this in way of rooms. All are in either open or share rooms, or super small closet size rooms. I just had a hard plastic chair no recliner or arm chair. We were not allowed to stay overnight at all.
It is such a long journey and the Drs and nurses are amazing and so caring.
my son was in Westmead NICU in NSW and his room had 7 other babies in it.
I had a very similar experience with my first birth. It was a long time ago, but seeing you live through this with your girls really takes me back. I too, ended up losing one baby, and delivering the second baby very early. She weighed 3lbs 14oz at birth. We lost her sister at 5 months, and she was born at a little more than 7 months. Today, she is the mother of her own precious children. God is good.

She is getting her own little personality isn’t she! Her little face is full of expressions. Hopefully she will gain enough weight soon to come home. I wish my boys would let me know they loved me, even visit me would be wonderful. I hope your treasures stay so close to you. I do love those dolls, they are gorgeous.
We feel the same! Old and forgotten is how we feel! You wake up in pain and all alone! A call or email would be nice! We use grocery pickup or delivery and my poor arthritic wife is the only driver now! Our daughter lives close by but works 2 jobs and has a lot of stress! She does call to see if we need groceries but we usually do pickups or deliveries on things we need! Thank God we have a local Target! We have to call more often too! My wife says emailing usually gets a same day response!
Do you have any grandchildren? We used to get weekly calls from them, but they don't call either because they are busy! I hope you get a call today! Take care!

@@daveshoemaker7137 I have 1 Grandson, we get on really well but he lives 800 kms away in another state, we send texts and I drove over there last November and stayed with him and my ex daughter in law with whom I am close.
I'm a retired NICU RN, my last job was at a big NICU in Seattle. We did indeed get quite a few babies from places like Ketchikan Alaska. Violet looks like she's doing awesome!!

Dear Lauren, what a fabulous all day video showing your typical day in the NICU. It really gives new meaning to the concept of “nursing.” It’s all encompassing, all day, every day, a disciplined and endlessly organized routine, all centered on baby Violet. A premie needs such tender and constant, thoughtful attention. So much work to pump, sanitize bottles and equipment! And all done with the deepest love and dedication. So inspiring! As a nursing mom years ago I appreciate what it means to nurse a baby, a commitment only a mama can make. Bless your 💜 Lauren!!

Thinking of you all Lauren we are a few weeks ahead of you in your journey. My daughter had wee fabric hearts that she kept changing between wearing in your bra, and leaving with the baby. Wonderful milk supply and the milk powder you made is gold.

Thanks for sharing you day at the NICU My son was also a premature & was in the NICU in Fl. It was just a big room & I stayed in the Ronald McDonald's house, that place was a blessing for sure! I kept my son's blood pressure cuff & other things. It's so amazing how tiny they are. ❤

NICU is challenging, but the experience changes you for the better, I believe. I was there 17 years ago with my youngest son. You are doing such a wonderful job every day. Please feel our prayers for strength for you!

I feel so blessed that I came across you. I think of my 2 oldest granddaughters have graduated from Campbell University in North Carolina. One of the best nurses program they can have. The oldest granddaughter become an intensive care nurse in the heart center and then three years later her sister graduated from Campbell University and she is a nurse that takes care of babies like your little Violet. They both bless my heart that they are so dedicated to their nursing careers and that they care for their patients. 😮please keep us updated as the years go by. We have a family that went through the same way that you are going through. One twin passed, and the other ones is so healthy. The only thing we really see is that he had to wear glasses early but he’s smart as whip your Violet will be too.

I discovered you & Mark's CZcams channel when I started researching Alaskan cruises. One of our daughters gifted to my husband & me an Alaskan cruise to take place in late August 2024!
Now I'm following your journey through the joy & hearbreak of your twins.
Almost 50 yrs ago I too gave birth to a premie daughter, our 4th child. It was an emergency C-section due to placenta previa. 50 yrs ago there were no ultrasounds to determine in utero problems, so it was a complete surprise because I had previously given birth to 3 sons without complications. She was whisked away to the nearest NICU an hour away, I wasn't able to see her for 3 weeks because my doctor would not let me travel! Things were so different back then!-no breast pumps other than manual ones! Fortunately I was able to keep my milk supply going until she was able to come home at 4 weeks!

Lauren thank you for taking us with you to spend the day with Miss Violet , it is a privilege to spend the day with you both then of course the boys and how much they miss you, Everett and Weston are shooting up in height, I love how sweet Weston is with his precious watch to find out when Mama is coming home, I think he just likes to know that you are safe and definitely coming back & I bet he loves Mama hugs, he’s growing so much. I think that at times Miss Violet looks like Weston a lot in some of the cute faces she pulls. Those sweet noises and her smiles, I wonder what she dreams about? Being at home with her brothers, never ever having to worry about not having arms to hold her because there are 4 willing participants there. I love that Bennett is making the lunches to pay for his snowboard, helping his mama & daddy while earning bucks along the way. He’s a good kid, the 4 boys are and they are a credit to you both.
I was exhausted watching the whole day and have to admit I cried when you went home then cried when you still had to eat then still had to pump and sterilise & those beautiful bears are just precious. I wonder just how much bigger little Miss Violet is now a month later than the video, she is the cutest little button who is loved all over the world. My NICU experience was way different back in 1995. There were 2 giant rooms. Also you could only come certain hours. Gowns and hair coverings had to be worn. You scrubbed up like you were performing surgery. Thankfully my experience was only 9 days. My daughter was 5 weeks early. The biggest baby in there at the time. However her lungs weren't developed and she was jaundiced pretty bad. I'm glad they've made these changes for NICU families now. Violet is adorable and I'm happy she's doing so well!
