Dangerous Typhoon Saola closes in on Hong Kong - September 1, 2023

- Typhoon Saola remains a very powerful storm, but has commenced weakening, and this is expected to expedite fairly soon. However, impacts along the south coast of China, Hong Kong, and Macau are expected to be severe, with winds of up to 190kph and a substantial storm surge. Heavy rainfall is also expected to accumulate with amounts of up to 250mm west of the Pearl River Delta.
Radar imagery depicts that the inner eyewall is holding on at this time, with very intense conditions on the western side. Satellite imagery shows that the eye is closing up and land interaction is likely to collapse its structure overnight.
Signal 9 storm warnings are now in effect in Hong Kong, with Red Typhoon Warnings for the coast of Guangdong province in China.

HKO has now hoisted Signal 9 Warnings but I do now expect potentially Signal 10 may be hoisted especially if Saola takes a more direct track or a bit southward track near Hong Kong…

November 27 02:00 K.M : Piper is just 20 miles short of landfall. Many Johanians have already been evacuated in the areas of Johanel,Johann,and Johanyl. Piper will strike Johann Country in about 2 hours from now.

HKO has also issued T-storm warnings related to Saola, and with the storm surge’s maximum height is (somewhat) reminiscent that of Hurricane Idalia not long ago, I expect widespread heavy and flash flooding throughout HK, and to an extent, parts of China and Macau…

To make a delicious apple pie, start by preparing the crust. In a mixing bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 cup of cold, cubed butter. Roll out the second dough disk and place it over the apples. Trim any excess dough, then crimp the edges to seal the pie. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape. Optionally, you can brush the top with an egg wash for a shiny finish.
Bake the pie in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 45-55 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown, and the filling is bubbling. Let it cool before serving. Enjoy your homemade apple pie!

If you mean Saola on approach to HK then probably stronger than Mangkhut… But keep in mind Mangkhut traded its intensity for more widespread typhoon, TS winds, and storm surges… Saola may be tiny but it managed to be more stronger and more potent to be extremely damaging like Mangkhut…
