- Another devblog, another batch of wonky new premiums being added to the game. This time we get a wish.com Riga as well as Rhode Island, a USN T10 BB that has radar, because of course it does.

Wargaming spamming premiums is nothing new, but it's always a face-palm moment.
About your point with Missouri: I think it was the only ship not touched by the old radar normalization, because premium or something. But you are right they completely ignored the rework after a while.

HMS Duke of York and HMS Hood are the only current BBs with USN cruiser pen angles. (Duke has the same caliber guns and Hood has larger guns) And they’re pretty balanced. So I don’t think the Rhode Islands pen angles will be as big of a deal as people might think.
Unless it gets better pen angles like the Italian bbs did on wows legends (55-70° pen angles instead of 55-65°)
Also Illinois but that thing has 203mm guns
Hood and York only get 5 degrees better....and considering the mediocre dispersion and pen values that 5 degrees often doesn't do much for you.

As someone who started playing way back in the closed alpha nine years ago, I definitely agree on how much of a goddamn challenge it is to memorize every single relevant statistic for the ships in this game.
I really want the Vermont supership/side grade to be a gigantic barge, like a literal flat barge with like 18 457mm guns, bristling with AA, a tennis court, and can be spotted from everywhere but also has 30 km base range. Call it Pennsylvania
It should be the Tillman design with the funni sextuple turrets

Really interested in that ship, seems really fun. Shes a total kit-bash of USN premium BB gimmicks and its super cool imo.
Its USS Florida (tier 7 premium) bumped up to tier 10. But i agree she sounds like fun.

I have met a division of 2 michelangelos, sharing smoke raining on everything with secondaries, but their main guns placement, makes it look like biggest Italian abomination in game.
Fast DCP is far worse than normal DCP for a cruiser.
I saw these last light, and I was both happy & sad at the results, but also in shock.
Seeing Independence was nice, the actual historical ship that WG release once a year.
Tianjin is just sad, a copy-paste Riga that no one asked for.
And for Rhode Island, she's just a total Metammoran Fusion Dance of the quad turrets from Florida, Alaska's Radar function, and possibly either an Iowa or Montana hull.
Rhoade Island looks like a US Mecklenburg

@@stefanocrosazzo3262 maybe, maybe it won’t because of the armor. just remember mecklenburg is tankier than this one with more hp and more armor thickness. it’ll be more likely a Florida in tier 10 with speed boost, radar, better secondaries, fast cooldown repair party and better dispersion. Florida’s sigma rate is exactly the same with Rhode Island which is 1.7 and it has 204m standard dispersion. Turrets i think they are the same as well, like 3*4 356mm and shell damage output is same. So i’m not sure about it’ll worth to buy or not. It will fit as a coal ship but i wouldn’t spend my steel or research points on this ship.
@@sdmobiwan The biggest irony is RI has the reload Florida should have gotten out of the gate. 34 secs for 356mm no overmatch guns at tier 7 was already pretty ass. 25 secs at tier 10 is somewhat workable but honestly this might be a ship where you take Reload mod over Dispersion because something tells me these 14 inch guns are not going to have the best pen so your main damage output is going to have to come down to gun DPM per salvo and AP chunk damage.

Tianjin is fine - it has 500 more hp than Riga, so 50500 - that 1% is huge :P lol
The Tianjin was designed as the result of a watercooler talk between the devs, when someone complained that Riga is the worst cruiser in the game, and someone else was like "hold my beer".
I'm not defending them doing stupid buffs to carriers compared to other classes. I don't think they should have jets, or JATO, or half the bs WG gives them. But, JATO (jet assisted take off), does not necessarily mean a jet engine. It means rockets strapped to planes, to take off in a shorter distance, as the name implies. And this existed before 1943. So it is technically plausible, and the armchair historian/historical accuracy people don't know what they're talking about.
I am certain half of them never really paid attention to details or get all of their information from Wikipedia.
The only use of RATO/JATO in a WW2 maritime setting was to launch Hurricanes off of tiny ramps on merchant ships. This happened only 9 times and the plane had to either find an airfield ashore or be abandoned. It would never be used for carrier based prop planes. It's fantasy.

@@ordavis There are many pictures of it being used on US carrier based planes from WWII. Wildcats, Corsairs, Avengers, etc. It is not fantasy whatsoever.
Does it really go back that far? I'm surprised their is no Camera Footage or photos of it being used. Or at the very least no one ever talks about it. Reguardless it does sound kinda far fetched when ya think about it.

Rhode island is pretty much a combination of the Florida and Georgia, with improved AP Ricochet angles, with radar like the missouri. Low surviving fast firing secondaries, (I'm feeling they might go West Virginia secondary reload speed given their low HP.) and to top it off, it gets an engine boost, because why not.
(Edit) also in the Blog said that the Ship can Dodge torpedoes in close range engagements and use radar to spot ships close to you, yet says as well that prolonged engagements of any kind is not recommended especially against other BBs(some of which have torpedoes), so they say its good of Dodging torpedoes yet at the same time says its not recommended to get close anyways due to small HP pool and Armor?

The rhode island is more like a t10 alaska than puerto rico does
Speed boost , 9 km radar 12 guns in 3 turrents 356mm , 30s reload & 72k hp , i have Alaska I Have Puetor Rico ... this ship is a freak health + tier + gun set up I could compare to Illionis , and is bb , speed boost Georgia , to be honnest I dont fell great about that ship , they will change it 100% , I feel if they made Alaska reaload that ship would be atractive , but she will have worse US T10 BB guns , I have Montana , Vermont , Louisiana & Ohio and last one have 24s reload with 8 guns cal 456mm , so yeah Rhoade Island look bad when I look on stats I think they should made 305mm guns and 9s base reaload as Illionis have , that would made more sense.

Also please dont tell me you take reload on Ohio or any other american BB tbh, her base reload is 27.5 seconds
9 second reload on 305s would have been absolutely fucking ridiculous and stupid, like I dont think you understand how much dpm that would be. If it had 305s it still would of had like a 22 second reload or smth.
This thing is a high speed battlecruiser, if you’ve played Bourg, Vincent, Lauria, schlieffen, or anything of that like, shes a new flavor of that kind of ship.
She goes 44knots with a proper build (brisk + flag + engine boost). She has secondaries, fast heals and accurate guns on top of the speed, shes going to want to be pushing a flank, likely hit and run style. The radar will likely be a late game tool, but is still a good tool to have, can help deal with DDs bc of your secs and good guns, but its not her main identity, again its just a tool she has.
Shes a kit-bash of almost every American premium BB. Florida guns, Illiniois improved AP pen angle, ohio/georgia/massa heal secondary and engine boost specifically from Georgia, radar from Missouri and Constellation. Even has Georgia’s hull, at least in look, we dont know the full armor layout yet.

@@jaywerner8415 This is about what their gun can do in their tier. 356 can overmatch cruiser in t7 but it can't in t10. The roles in their own tier are different.

Jet-assisted takeoff (JATO) was historically developed by 1945. It was generally used on larger aircraft. It was actually a "JATO bottle" that acted as a short-duration rocket motor for takeoff boost only. However, during WWII the US military thought of rockets as crackpot, thus "jet" in this case, also the name of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory that developed larger rockets.

They are not "JETS". They are normal Prop Planes which WG strapped Take Off Rocket boosters to. Im fairly certain this was not a thing that was EVER DONE.
Rhode island is basically a slightly tankier Florida...3 tiers higher, I don't really see any point in this, suspecting buffs.

It is not comparable with georgia. It is straight a florida with georgia’s fast reloading heal, speed boost and secondary gimmicks plus survelliance radar. It is completely a new playing experience because of the radar.

Haven't played Wows in a long time, therefore most of the ships at the start feels so alien to me. Can I ask: Are those US Cvs techline or premium ships? Because their color are white so I assume they are tech tree, and if so Weegee is nut

@@LJKGray support class CVs has their own gimmick. There will be IJN ones as well but not sure when or how RN, KMS or soviet support class will be released. US line of support class have opportunity to lay a mine field on the surface. IJN support class will have opportunity of dropping smokes to surface as you mentioned.

The michelangelo doesn’t get a 10% dpm nerf though, only the 90 mm get a reload nerf, the other secondaries don’t, so it’s less than 10%

shit i havent even been playing as long as most people and using mods to help know all the assets various ships have is a damn godsend in this game. For like a week it took my dumbass dying to Spanish cruiser torps 4 times to realize most of them have torps from T7 and up

We console players have the Independence as a premium ship but no rocket planes and JATOs on her. We only have JATOs on our higher tier Russian carriers but still we don't have rocket planes on any of our carriers yet.

Why do depth charges not kill all surface ships not just surfaced subs
Do you really want an answer to that? Ya see, these DC charges are basicly OIL drums full of TNT, the idea being the Explosion will Crack open the Subs Pressurized Hull. (thus ether Sinking it or forcing it to surface) Ships don't need to worry about pressure, and Water does not Compress thus absorbing the Explosion as well as distributing it over distence. (The shockwave will not brake the hull) Also You are not gonna blow a hole in a ships hull less the charge is right next to the hull, like a Torpedo Does.
Not to mention the Armor on these ships is at lest 1 inch thick of steel if not more.

Every time i see "Jet Assisted Takeoff" I cringe. For Christ sake Wargaming AT LEAST TRY! They may as well just add ACTUAL JET Turbo Props At this point, oh wait they DID, on the SUPER CARRIERS! Far as i know, Jet Assisted Takeoff was NEVER A THING for WW2 planes cus ya know THEY DIDN'T NEED IT! Also JTOW rockets had not been invented yet. In fact the only Jets in WW2 where the 2 German Ones and far as i know they just Took off like normal.
May as well add F86 Sabers and M17s for all the good it would do.

When you don't develop the game itself in any meaningful sense, you have nothing new to offer other than more and more ludicrous, bullshit nonsense ships with seemingly random stats.
It's EXACTLY what happened to WoT, and it was because I was certain it would happen to this game as well that I bailed after ~500 battles after release.
That's after having played all the way from Alpha testing; so clear they were going to make this into as much of an arcade farce as they did tanks, such a gross shame for anyone with a genuine, deep knowledge of the real naval warfare history of this period.
😂😂😂 why the rage with carriers beeing able to use tactical squadron? There is no way any surface ship could run into enemies with gun unloaded why carriers should?
Because tactical squadrons are basically bonus planes you don't care about losing as they get another full squadron after a cool down anyway. Just means shooting them down doesn't matter at all so AA is even more useless.
Didn't tier 10 carriers once have jet aircraft as the upgrade aircrafts then they removed them some time ago? Even though the decks of the carriers are nowhere near long enough for a jet aircraft to safely land on them.
USS Midway supposedly had some, But i joined the game well after that was a thing so can't confirm. Although those "JETS" might have also been the planes that the US Super CV has where they are Turbo Props with Jet Turbines. I THINK Early jets (sub sonic ones) could take of old carriers like that (to a point) They did get Plane Catapults at some point so thats probably how.
As I said i have no idea, would have look up OLD videos of WOWS.
I think in the ancient times Midway had Banshee and it was removed for being too unrealistic

Love how the chat is comparing internet speeds at the start of the video. Wish I could get fiber internet services. But the best we get in the back woods of Vermont is either DSL provided by a phone company which sucked ass. But the best available for speed is Starlink. Can play online games like World of Warships but every hour and a half it will have a delay while acquiring the lead sat of the chain of satellites. It's enough of a delay to cause the game to disconnect. But for downloading large files it works great. Fiber may not be in my area any sooner than 2025 and then I am a sceptic because the phone company doesn't maintain its shit as it is. Fiber is even more maintainace intensive than conventional metal cable. So, I doubt the lazy shits will actually do their job and provide a good quality service.
Yeah fastest i can get where i am is 20Mb/s (was only 2Mb/s for a long time). I get seriously triggered when people complain they have to wait a whole hour to download a 100 gb game or something when it takes me an entire day lol.
