    I think the same thing when I paired with players who only score and don’t fight (sableye for example). Other team wins almost every fight because it’s a 4v5 but our team wins because the one guy scored so much “solving a problem they created”.

      @@jasmijn-1419 that's an even bigger reason back cap shouldn't have been happening. 1: enemy had 5 players up and spawned vs meow team having 2 dead; all 5 of enemy team should have first off going for center. 2: sylveon was already making the bad play by going for that score because if the enemy had jumped towards center instead of top ray would have been dead way before any reaction is possible from sylveon *or* the meowscarada.

      @_freebirdnerd Před 12 dny +2

      @@vensilenced That can be good to do sometimes, but more often than not, it's best just to rip Ray at that point and take that win condition away from the enemy team. If the enemy has 4 or 5 down, and you all attack Ray together, you can guarantee a win. Your strategy isn't bad (I like to take Regieleki right before Ray to try to distract some of the enemy), but most of the time it would be better to fight Ray with your team.

    Im only half way through, but what im seeing so far is a very clear trend. People confusing their outplays/mechanical skill/luck leading to something working out with a good play, when its not. More often its factors outside of the actual macro decision that lead to the bad play not being punished. A good play is not one that relies on the enemy messing up or complete luck. Its one that works when those things are more against you than in your favour

      Not a him moment if he set it up. You don't call a fire fighter a hero for setting a building on fire just so they can put it out, you call them an arsonist. That meow proved he was ahead enough to 1v5, so why did he wait for Ray to be on the line before he could do that? That replay doesn't prove his skill, it calls into question why his team was even dead to begin with. If he was able to 1v5 the entire enemy team with ease, then his team shouldn't even be dead.
      If he can 1v5, imagine how much easier he could 5v5. His teammates either fought without him or he was off on his own trying to be a lone wolf. Either way, someone made a stupid decision, and that replay was just his way of doubling down.

    Its obvious that these players are using "results based thinking" instead of "process based thinking". They feel that their plays are justified because those plays worked, which disregards all the luck needed for those plays to work. If your play relies on luck, being over leveled, or enemy stupidity, its a bad play even if it works, I don't care if it takes you from a guaranteed loss to a pure stomp comeback. And a play being "the only play" doesn't make it a good one. It makes it a hail mary, AKA, a desperation call.
    Basing the quality of the play on the result is dumb, because stupid plays can work and you'll think that was a good decision, or smart plays can fail, and you'll think it was a bad decision. People tend to fall into this trap all the time because they just don't think at all. If you make smart plays, you'll probably be rewarded for them 90% of the time. If you make bad plays, you'll probably be rewarded 50% of the time, not because of skill or good logic, but because its a coin flip.
    Used process based thinking, because if you always make good choices, you won't need to justify your decision, its gonna work out, and you're not gonna be relying on reckless gambling to make it look good. The player who always makes bad decisions is going to have more pop off moments than a good decision maker, where they beat the odds and the huge gamble pays off, that bad decision maker will also have hundreds more bad results by a mile (likely deaths, throws, and losses).
    Another problem with "results based thinking" is that it actually goes by another name. Thrill seeking, or even worse: gambling addiction. Take that Meowscarada who tried to back cap then stole Ray. Total main character syndrome. Sylveon was already back capping. You were not going to make him stop scoring so you could squeeze your score in first. He already was risking 100 points, he was not going to give that up so you could risk 50 points instead. So you were already never gonna score even without the enemy team coming to defend. But what's especially stupid is the results of that play. Let's break it down:
    - you didn't score your 25 energy for the 50 points
    - you went to Ray, tried a last second steal, and it worked out
    - you killed everybody
    - you scored 100 points and win
    Now let's see what would happen if you had gone to Ray like a normal person instead of ignoring your squad's calls:
    - you don't score your 25 energy
    - you kill everybody and now Ray is uncontested
    - you take ray, score 100 points, and win
    The key difference being that you never have a chance to fail and lose by just going to Ray like a normal person. You already were fed as hell, and you proved that you could just 1v5 them normally, so do that, take Ray while they're dead, and then score when they can't stop you, because you have Ray shield and also they're already dead. The literal only benefits to doing things your way was the hype when it worked. The downsides to doing it your way was the fact that it will lose if you try to ever recapture the magic, so by all means, keep doing it. When I queue against you, I'll gladly take the free win.

    I don't think the last play was good.
    It was 2:36 when the other Meowscarada used its ult. What does that mean? He won't have ult for rayquaza. This is a huge advantage since your team will have 5 unites, and the enemy team only 4. The problem is, OP used unite as well, so he won't have his unite either. It would have been a good play if he let himself get killed, since he would respawn in time for Rayquaza, and maybe even catch Meowscarada since he probably would have gone to score after killing the OP.

    Confirmation bias is wild during back-caps... "see, it turned out fine!" Yeah, but winning the slot machine doesn't make it _not_ a risky gamble.
    My hang up on risky late-game plays is: often, one person missing (due to KO timer) _can_ be enough to lose a Ray fight and lose the game... but the would-be success that that person died for will _not_ often be enough to turn the game in your favor. Very high risk in exchange for a not-so-high reward.
    We see this all the time with people trying to push a tier 2 goal when there's 2:30 on the timer... it's very unlikely that they'll score, and even if they do, it's barely gonna be over 100 points (if the goal is even full). However it's _very_ likely that not everyone will survive fighting on an enemy goal (that respawning enemies can jump-pad to immediately) and if that makes most of our team go down, it's now also very likely the enemies will be able to rip Ray and score 200+ points. So we have a low chance to gain ~100 points, and a pretty decent chance of losing _multiples_ of that. That's an _awful_ exchange, but people attempt it all the time 🤦‍♂

    I'd probably say the last play wasn't ideal, In this case they managed to escape but if Aegislash caught up or they ran into an opposing Pokémon then no time would be left to build a Unite.
    With 30 seconds there's likely enough time to respawn which keeps Unite for Ray and resets your timer giving you more presence at the objective.

    If I had to rate them here’s how I would rate it.
    1. Ok play but still very risky especially in a solo Q game. (0:25)
    2. Def Bad play, I can understand what the glace is trying to do but this can go wrong is so many ways. (1:43)
    3. I honestly don’t think that was a bad play. But yes could have gone better. (3:00)
    4. This was mostly bad play on the enemy team, you don’t need two players to defend. (4:26)
    5. Possibly the worst one I’ve seen, out of all of the rest of the vid, best to just go to the ray fight, like I can understand you have unite but your technically aiming for a steal, which it’s not always Guaranteed and could even put you in a worse position if the steal failed. (7:00)
    6. This is more like a “panic” type situation. I myself sometimes do it, and I will say it’s not the best play. I would have just let him waste its unite but it’s an okay play. (8:59)

    Hoping you get a final hit on ray with a non secure move is always a bad play that rewards you with a bad behaviour that you will continue to depend on if it does work out

  • @UltimateRaven
    @UltimateRaven Před 12 dny +1

    There was a match where I was actually evading my enemies with my Charizard, luring them in and KOd them. Funny part is, I killed the enemy Gengar when I was in a sliver of health while he got stunned. I regret not recording that moment. But the next time I see you, I hope I can show some awesome moments without plays like that. Hopefully, my Machamp can do it.

    OHHHHH. so back cappers arent thinking "this is the right thing to do right now". they think "this is the wrong thing to do but ill be fine because im so skilled". that makes so much more sense.

    I dont backcap at ray. Sometimes its the right play. But people get too excited, id rather lose 1/15 games that backcapping required than risk the other 14/15 games that dont even risk it and just makes us lose because of it

    I think deep down they know back caping is bad, they just need validation. Alot of these players
    Do a bad play then edge a 50/50 win and will justify it . Back capping to me is always a desperate play thats high risk low reward usually.

    Any held item build for sylveon, spragels?

    • @someone999555
      @someone999555 Před 12 dny

      Im not spragels, but it depends on moveset; heres solid builds for each:
      Hypervoice: wise glasses, choice specs and cursed incense.
      Mystical fire: muscle band, spoon & focus band/rapidfire scarf(my personal favourite)/resonant guard.
      I highly recommend checking unite-db for builds, you will always get a build backed by maths from there, so if you are unsure of where you want to go with a build, theirs will always serve you well.

  • @BlindRamb0
    @BlindRamb0 Před 11 dny

    We disagree on Scizor and now backcapping :/. If your holding 40-50 in a winning game and we k.od the attackers I'm all for back capping because if they try to get Ray we go for kills then take Ray assuming they don't surrender. I guess the alternative is the backcap was enough to gain the lead but I think it's best if a all rounder or maybe speedster does it as that's the only comebacks I've seen work when backcapping is involved.

    And then theres me over here who wished he had a video to prove it. But my entire team decided to gather on top path with me, then all got K.O.ed. Well, i had my zard unite ready for the teamfight, but Blastoise ended up stunning me before i could use it. I then proceeded to unite the Gengar in the middle, and 1v5 the entire team. One penta K.O. later and I'm on roughly 2% hp. Shot in the dark moment, guess i shocked the living crap out of them bad enough to be able to live through it 😂

    I actually think the aegeslash play could have been a good one. He made the enemy team split up. I have done stuff like that and if the enemy team doesn't chase me I turn right back around
