Man people really did grow up with Roman Reigns 😭 he's been here for over 12 years. He's inching his 40s and by his age now, Cena was done with his super Cena phase and was doing US open challenges. So Roman may really be done with his full time run.
I am sick of roman hate from toxic fans. There are people bringing up his illness in the comments. What is wrong with you people.
I still think wwe has an issue with Roman, and it was shown heavily when the rock came back. He overshadowed Roman in every way possible. Everyone wanted Cody v Rock, Roman became an after throught. Of course no one is on the level of the rock, I get that. But Roman is supposed to be the biggest star in the company.
True
But there’s nothing wwe can do unfortunately
That is true but at the same time it's the rock only john Cena was able to not get overshadowed by him
Roman did his part in making the Bloodline story attractive enough to the point where The Rock wanted to be involved in it. It would've been a disservice on Roman's part to try to water down who The Rock is, and it would've only made himself look insecure. The Rock's charisma is second to none, so ofc he was going to "outshine" Roman. There is no Roman issue. It only appears that way to shortsighted smarks. Listen to the "we want Roman!" chants.
@@decepticonxhunter4850 Thank you
But we do have a Gunther issue
Simon do rusev day next i think that's probably could've been the best thing ever but it got booked horribly 😢
Great video. But, just one slight disagreement. About 2 minutes in you said it’s terrible to recreate other wrestlers in someone else’s image … LA Knight is super over and he’s a cross between the rock and stone cold. And chad gable is Kurt angle 2.0 and we have no problem with him,
I think romans main problem early on is he simply had no charisma … or he wasn’t allowed to show it. He admitted on Logan Paul’s podcast he was super scripted early on (with some stupid lines … suffering succotash) and admitted it took a while for him to learn how to work the crowd
I think he meant like pushing someone directly as "the next..".
I disagree with Chad Gable being Kurt Angle 2.0
the persona of LA Knight has nothing to do with being a recreation of someone else's image. are there similarities? yes. does that mean it's a "recreation"? absolutely not. LA Knight was LA Knight even before the conception of "LA Knight" as a ring name. the character you see is the exact same character he's had in TNA for years prior.
Oh he's not done yet. Roman will get his babyface run, and it will be amazing. It just takes the right person standing across the ring from him. I am waiting for the pop he will get when he shows up to confront Solo and the G.O.D.
No it won't
@@IAmAHeateryeah it will, because it's just gonna be the Tribal Chief character, but tweaked slightly so he comes off as not the same asshole he was, but still has no problems getting down and dirty when that time comes... It's gonna be the exact same thing as when Rhea Bloody Ripley returns... She's gonna get the exact same creative treatment I just described
@@IAmAHeater You probably like Gunther
@@charlesbuckley5615 Gunther is a Damn good wrestler. Reigns is not.
@@charlesbuckley5615Gunther has aura that roman wishes he did
The darkest part was when Strowman one money in the bank and they tried booking him heel against Roman. That was also the turning point where the crowd turned on Seth Rollins. That move ruined both Strowman and Rollins.
Vince acted with Roman Reigns like a child who yells and rolls on the floor because he hasn't got the toy he wanted in his Happy Meal.
Shield and Post Shield Roman phases are my favorite segments of his. They didn’t try anything stupid with him until 2015 making him talk too much as we know and not making him a badass heel that kept quiet.
The Tribal Chief saved him indeed but I will always prefer the hounds and those first few months he had on his own
Very shocked when I opened this video and heard Simon. Was for sure this was a Jules special
The obvious rocket push only ever worked with Hogan. It didn't work with Lex, Diesel, Rocky, Cena and Roman and they let a lot of home grown talent get squashed or lost in the shuffle because of it. Nothing will beat the natural push, like what we saw with The Rock and as still seeing with Cody. When Roman actually became a character, he got that crowd reaction and got crowd eating out of his hand. Slow burn beats rocket push every time.
The period i was walking away from wrestling... Man it was the worst. Thank god AEW revived my flame and WWE stepped up their game. Now wrestling's awesome
Orange Cassidy does it better
Actually Simon, it's even worse than you made it sound; Saudi 2018 was actually a DRAW between Brock and Roman (even though Roman's feet hit first, they ignored that) to follow the LEGIT worst received Mania main event ever (Triple H in 2016 got cheered more than Brock did against Roman in 2018 giving it A match reaction, and fans in the venues at the time LOVED Hogan posing with the returning Warrior AND Hogan beating Yoko at Manias VIII and IX); Roman had to wait until SummerSlam in August to be Universal Champion, and THAT only went six minutes (after all THAT) and took in a HIAC main event that went to a no contest (the first of two in a row), before tragedy struck and ended it early (they put it STRAIGHT back on Brock at the next Saudi show)...
Roman tribal chief era is always going to be better than the big dog era
The Big Dog era was great it's the marks who have a problem with it
@@charlesbuckley5615 true
Vince's last champion - good riddance.
Lol, yes, good riddance to those guys who only ever gave me stuff to look at on tv - grrrrr, such problems
I think he was talking about vince@@TheRealAhoy
@@puffafish1822 He was talking about them both.
Implying good riddance to Reigns too.
@@TheRealAhoy well I agree wuth with Vince, not roman
@@puffafish1822 But they've made nothing but positive contributions in your life. Whatever you think about Vince, all he ever did was make wrestling come on your tv. You shouldn't be getting stroppy because your involvement is being given a tv show to watch.
This honestly should have been Seth’s spot the whole time. However Vince was still in charge.
It wasn't a failed push though, if the push failed, he wouldn't have stayed at the top.
Wrong Reigns didn’t win in Saudi at Greatest Royal Rumble. He won it at SS 2018 in the 10 sec match.
Cool shirt Simon
Please stop saying, “wwe decided…then the wwe thought…the had Roman….”
No it wasn’t the wwe. It was Vince.
Vince had him say “suffering succotash.” Vince had him transition from silent killer to Uber vanilla white meat babyface. Vince put dog food on Roman’s head. It was Vince’s stubbornness which had Roman getting booed out of arenas for 5 years.
Simon, you're completely gaslighting the fact that Roman's turning point with the fans was when he finally returned from cancer treatment and aligned himself with Paul Heyman. And HHH did not create the Tribal Chief. In 2020 when his run began, Vince was still very much in charge.
Roman without Paul Heyman and the Rock to cover his lack of charisma will show why he shouldn't be anywhere near the main event.
You know when wwe is doing good, AEW has to come with some video shitting on them for the past.
The worst booking decision is pushing Moxley, foh
Not, the worst was having to bear Jade Cargill, the personification of "You can never turn a donkey into a races horse".
U get what your saying but vince was in charge so im sure he still would've fumbled Roman
My opinion on the shield break up angle... If VKM really wanted Roman getting over, he should have booked it to be Roman who turned because we all knew he was really good in the ring, but that forced babyface shib was so weak, it killed it. If Roman turned, he'd have been reviled but over, then you put him through a character arc to transition him back to being a maybeface (stone cold or 2018-19 The Man type)
Indeed
His Leukemia leave,l was the first step to him actually getting over. Before they had forced him on the fans. Him announcing his leave got him sympathy and then returning to announce he was in remission got fans behind him naturally.
retro ups and downs??
8:25 That was a stupid term by Vince. Triple H went back to professional wrestling. No need to keep using it.
Bad Booking Requests:
Mordecai/Kevin Thorn
Shinsuke Nakamura US Champion
Vladimir Koslov's push
Piggy James
24/7 Division
We get it, you like him
Steaming pile of suffering Succatash son 😆
Vince ended the streak for him I'll never support him
People only wanted Roman to win the 2014 rr because they wanted anyone but Batista not cause anyone actually wanted to see Roman win. You guys get that confused ALOT
Yeah of the final four in that Rumble, it was three muscle bound guys who Vince favored (Batista, Reigns and Sheamus) and C.M. Punk, who without Daniel Bryan in that Rumble was the only one fans would really get behind. So naturally Punk got eliminated next by Kane interfering (and left the company). So fans then got behind Reigns by default because he was the least established of the remaining three (and the only one who hadn't won a Rumble match before) and thus the freshest option to create a new star at the time. But by the next year, they had put Reigns in that Batista role, eliminated Bryan early (which backfired massively) and treated Ambrose, Wyatt, Ziggler etc. as disposable garbage to put over a tired Kane and Big Show act to try to get Reigns over more.
When Roman returns, they need to book him, Jey, and Jimmy against Solo and his version of The Bloodline in a losers eat dog food match

Funny cause WWE is doing the same thing with Gunther and no one is complaining. He's only been pinned 3 times in WWE,he just loss the IC title in April yet in June he's KOTR,and now in August he will get a title match. If that isn't forcing him down our throats.
Because is not the same and people actually like Gunther. Next question.
@@tripleg6Are you serious? You must be slow....It's the same thing and not everyone likes Gunther.People always switching the narrative for someone they like
@@charlesbuckley5615 Same thing how?
And yes, everyone likes Gunther, meaning enougg people like him, unlike Roman who was disliked for most of his career.
@@tripleg6Are you serious? When he was in the Shield he was the 1 people liked once he started to get his push that's why the cry babies came out!Gunther has the same matches all the time and they're making him a world beater. When it was RR everyone was crying but when it's Gunther people except it.FOH Gunther doesn't move merchandise or ratings
And Gunther is actually better than Roman. He can do more than a spear and a fruity looking superman punch
I always liked roman so i disagree with this video 2000 percent

The first time I ever watched wrestling was WrestleMania 40. And the Tribal Chief was the reason. Then I had to watch 4+ hour CZcams videos to understand the bloodline and Cody Rhodes and everything. But Roman was the person that I decided I wanted to watch
The arrogance and narcissism of the title is breathtaking 😂. Like Simon could book a TV Wrestling show! 😂. Stick to shilling for TK mate!
Translation: you didn't watch it
Reigns was forced to wear a SHIRT AND FLAK JACKET. First 8 years in Wwe...he WORE A SHIRT and a TEFLON vest. That's why he didn't get over.
My wwe Toxic trait is from 2014-2018(yes I'm erasing roman reigns 2019) has been rejected N hated by the fans until he announced his Leukemia scare in 2018 then leaves for 2 years then returns at summer slam 2020 and becomes the Tribal Chief

🐕food 😅😂
Out of all of the shield Roman was the weakest link. I’d be shocked if he’s back to WWE at any point. I think his loss of Mania was signaling him running out his contract. He doesn’t have the charisma that others have. Plus he’s just corny with promos.
I will admit, the Tribal Chief gimmick did wonders for him. Back from mid 2015 to 2019, I couldn't even stand to look at him, because I just felt like his very presence on TV was a stain on the shows. Once 2020 came around, I could finally look at him, I could finally stand to see him on screen, it made him all the more interesting and, the characterization was exactly what we were asking for and then some. Samoans in wrestling just work better as heels. Just a fact.
Because he wore a shirt + a bulletproof vest.

Hot take, Roman is okay, but the company loves him too much. Even the head of the table overstayed it's welcome.
Just like BD is okay but the marks wanted him at the top
@@charlesbuckley5615 they did because he was awesome
Heel or babyface...Roman was only Vince's favorite. He was never a good wrestler. He only got over as a heel due to Paul Heyman being his manager and the Bloodline. But 3 years as champion was too long for everyone. Nothing was changing. Consistent interferences in his matches to help him keep the titles. And he was barely showing up to defend his titles. Yet, the media and fans think he's one of the greatest wrestlers/ champions of all time. No, he isn't. He never did anything on his own. He never had to work his way up to being champion. If he wasn't related to The Rock and didn't have Paul Heyman as his manager. Dude would be just another mid carder
What about bland Gunther? All his matches are the same,he can barely cut promos, and he's only been pinned 3 times in WWE
You must be slow?Do you watch wrestling or just look at the screen?
The era of Roman being shoved down our throats was the worst in WWE history. I had pretty much checked out after Taker's Streak was broken but Roman really turned me off completely.
The same thing can be said about Gunther.WWE is forcing him down our throats
@@charlesbuckley5615no because Gunther has aura and in ring skills, both which roman desperately lacks even after all these years
Simon, love your work but we don't agree on this even a little. The only things Roman has is the look and the legacy. No move set( superman punch and spear? Lame), no mic skills and no acting skills. The Usos', Paul Heyman and Sammy Zayn carried that whole storyline week in, week out. As a human there is no doubt Roman is 1 of the good guys, but as a WWE superstar he's mid card at best.
God babyface Roman was so bad. He was copy cut and paste of John cena and hulk hogan. Even though by the end of his reign I was bored by Roman. Heel Roman was the right choice
Unpopular opinion, this was one of the most boring title reigns of all time for me. Cookie cutter feuds, predictable matches, overstayed its welcome. Besides Cody, everyone else that lost to him immediately lost all of their momentum. I'd rather have short title reigns than another bloated part timer title run like this again.
