What is when the lace doesn't go around? At the start it looks unfinished and at the end looks weird. I can't find any information about that. Greetings from Germany

Pat, you’re a great teacher! You helped me master the Mexican Round Braid! I have a question I hope that you’ll respond. Where did you but the small wing divider with sharp tips? I would really like to have a pair like that. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much Herlinda. I got them from a vendor at the leather show in Sheridan some years ago. I see Weaver has some but the smallest is 8 inches.
If you go all the way around a project, what is the process for finishing the braid so you can't tell where you started?
I will do another video on that. This video got a bit long but you almost need to see it since it would be hard to just describe in words. I will try for one next Friday.

Great video, thank you so much. I’m gonna have to watch it a few more times to get it down, I would like to wrap keychain fobs, just store bought regular ones, there are 27 holes around, how many from the first hole should I start to get the best effect all the way around? Please n thank you.

Glad it was helpful! Not sure what you mean by the first hole but I would start in the middle of the flattest spot you have. You would not want to start on a sharper curve since it would be more difficult to join there. Thanks on my nails. LOL
@@gotstyledesigns thank you. I watched your video again an I think I understand it a better. I see I can start from the first hole an go all the way around. It just threw me because in the video you start lacing from a few holes down an not at the very first hole. Got it now. Gonna subscribe I see you have a couple more braiding Techniques I would like to learn.
I don't have any problems doing the Mexican round braid until I have to go around the corners..

I would not recommend using super glue for splicing lace. I say that because it is not flexible and does become brittle over time and will lose its adhesion. for splicing lace, the best adhesive to use is contact cement. The Barge brand is the gold standard and is the longest lasting. in regards to splicing mulitple pieces of laces instead of just using one long strand, the least amount of splices the better. with any type of braiding, the leather strands or lacing MUST be prestretched. That will eliminate any stretching that might happen as you explained with one long piece of lace. The more splices you use just gives more spots that might end up looking unsightly some day as the piece gets wear and tear. the splices will become frayed and be pretty ugly.
20 hrs at $20 an hour makes that a $400 braid
Yes you are right. I priced it accordingly and sold it quickly. I thought I might have braided it a little faster but it is tedious when you use smaller spaced holes than the lace. You have to admit it looks much nicer than sizing the holes to the lace size though.
