hi this sound silly i just lost the main pcb in my tascam 38 this sound nuts if you got hold of a deck it's easy to ad a mini computer to the old tascam 38 i have done this i think there's no need to spend big money in to new decks i find as i can get the transport working the decks last alot longer as long as the power trans ic that deal with coils and motors are ok the decks can still work ok
Big IPS panels now costs less than $100. And $5 for a SoC with HDMI output. You probably sells a tension roller for that price. What was an idea to use a monitor for a boring indication (which is hard to read by the way), and keep that vintage style? Have you estimated users' expectations? Modern R2R users needs "turbo-jets" with only spools and a monitor. Invest more into a CNC-ed case rather than into st..d buttons. Cheers. And keep going!
Unfortunately, you're not the first to make this kind of remark 😉 I'll just answer your question about the screen: it's a touch screen with a border, and costs around $150. There's a big difference between buying a screen from a cheap Chinese site and buying a screen from a supplier who guarantees the longevity of the screen model so that you can still produce your machine for the next 10 years. You may be able to design a cheaper machine with your CNC, but only if you don't have to pay for your own working hours... Then to sell it, you'll need to find a distribution network, an after-sales service in every country where you have customers, etc... I can only encourage you to launch into the adventure, as there is a market for much less expensive machines. Cheers, Christophe
@@analogaudiodesign Aha! You see? I'm not the first. Well.. You could try to start with a mid range model: 7" 7 1/2 ips auto reverse, for those who purchase hundreds of x-700r/4000d just to copy a CD or hi-res to have some vibes. Something compact, apple-styled, and mighty. And if a price will be less than $2k, most of those people will purchase it I speculate. PS As for me as a max I could try to make one piece during 5 years as a min -)
Decades ago I had the Revox B 77, to archive LPs. It did the job, very well. But today, the sheer Mass of the tape, and now the ridiculous expense of same? 96KHz, 24 Bit recording onto bubble memory in a Tascam machine, sans moving parts and playing back through an Audionote DAC kit, is quite superior. When R/R was the best format, I owned it. But today, I don't get the fascination, anymore.
Guys, it's a very noble task to keep the analog tape recording alive but boy does it look bad! Why on Earth should someone buy something that looks like a lab device from sixties? Even the digital interface seems to be designed by my grandfather... It's not going to be a cheap thing to buy, so wasn't it worth hiring a couple of good designers to create something with more personality?!...

Why without recording function? That’s nonsense to me 🤷🏻♂️.
A Recorder version will be available at the end of year.

SOUND... nough said.
@@keithmoriyama5421 Less sound quality for vastly greater expense? Maybe for the developmentally arrested.

Hi! When you start making RECORDERS let us know.
Of course 😉
I have to have record. I want to soften up some CDs.
The recorder will arrive in few moths.
If it records, take my money now. If not, then its a dissapointment
A recorder version coming soon 😉

For this much $$$$ they could have at least make it look like something--- UGLY.
