- After having done a Top 100 According to Gamer Votes and a Top 100 According to MetaCritic, I now present the Top 100 PS1 Games According to the good folks at Retro Sanctuary ... in 10 Minutes!

One of my other videos is a "Top 100 PS1 Games According To Gamer Votes" - and in the roughly 10 months it has been posted, the comments section shows it is quite polarizing. Specifically, that other list is very heavy with JRPGs - which some people do appreciate - but judging by the comments, most people don't.
So, here's another list - compiled by the good folks at Retro- Sanctuary which is, I find, a little more balanced across the genres (i.e. a little less JRPG heavy). It does still have a bit of a Final Fantasy bias, it's definitely more varied in scope.
(On a personal note, I'm surprised that some heavy hitters didn't make this list (e.g. Parasite Eve, Twisted Metal, Die Hard Trilogy, etc ...but the contents of this list are still pretty solid)

It's crazy because literally all of these games would be able to be played on your phone. That's how far technology has come!

For me this list is one BIG misunderstanding. Too much shitty games instead of very good titles like medievil for example.

Games used to be so damn cool and creative and really take you away to another world... games don't do that anymore. Despite being super realistic in graphics. There's something severely lacking in creativity and vitality... I wonder if it could be a generational thing. Because I notice the same thing in all types of media - including TV shows, movies, and so on.

I noticed that too, the old games took you to another world. The games are more realistic today but it feels more like it's apart of your life. Like a virtual lifestyle you escape to.
Obviously, no one will ever totally agree with an Top 100 list, because it is pretty subjective. But I have to say the lists from Retro Sanctuary are some of the best on the internet.
It's weird how your brain locks away memories that would never come back on there own until triggered.
Gex: Enter The Gecko seriously deserves more love. Never understood why it wasn't as known as say Banjo Kazooie.
The US version not having Gex voiced by Leslie Phillips (the actor who voiced the sorting hat in harry potter) is such a crime. To this day I cannot play the NTSC release even if the framerate is better.

In my personal opinion, year of the dragon should at least be in the top 10. In my 20s now, but when I was a kid, I would always look forward to playing Crash Bandicoot and Spyro games, especially YOTD. Great levels, soundtracks, bosses, an overall and overwhelming sense off nostalgia.

Everyone has a difference of opinion when it comes to top games I'm totally all over bust a groove as one of my favourites but let's face it so much choice for every taste
The list is missing Gex 3, Twisted Metal 2, Centipede, Rayman, Frogger, Contra, Crash 2, Spyro 2, Croc.
Some of those games on the list needs more love!

Emulator, and you can make them look even more beautiful with the right plugins and shaders.

I play my ps1 still, mainly play dukes of Hazzard or sled storm few others. I actually play the ps1 Dreamcast and snes more than I do the PS4 that's just basically collecting dust lol

Will be lost... In time... Like... Tears... In... Rain...
