- The ancient Viboldone Abbey (Milan, Italy) is dedicated to Saint Mary and Saint Peter and its bell tower has three ancient bells from different eras. The largest bell is the original bell of the monks, cast by master Antonio Busca in 1456; its note is a B flat and it is the second oldest bell in the diocese of Milan. The smaller bell rings the note D and was cast in 1727, while the middle bell dates back to 1566 and was made by Francesco Faletti. Its note is an F sharp and it is the second and last known bell by this bell foundryman from Cremona. In this video, the three bells ring together, a rare occurrence that happens only a few times a year.
Viboldone Abbey was officially founded in 1176, the year of the death of the Milanese archbishop Galdino. Custody of the church and grounds passed over the following decades to the Umiliati, who completed the church in 1348. The bell tower dates back to the second half of the 14th century and corresponds to the tiburium of the church, according to Cistercian monastic tradition. The abbey houses famous frescoes attributed to the school of Giotto, including the Last Judgement by Giusto de' Menabuoi, a masterpiece from 1360. Custody of the abbey passed to the Olivetans in 1571, at the express wish of St Charles Borromeo. The building was saved during a providential restoration in 1896 and used again as a Benedictine abbey from 1940.

non ti so proprio dire, a memoria in questa occasione avevano suonato tutte e tre perché lo avevo chiesto; normalmente suona la Busca a distesa

hanno voluto mantenere il sistema di suono originale, visto che un tempo suonavano a slancio... essendo non in tono maggiore devo dire che non hanno sbagliato a volerle lasciare così
