    Hooking up Fantom : It's in Channel midi settings. you select input and output there.
    Auto quantize: Settings > General. Go over one page. You can select quantize on Record or Play / Record (which means it can quantize while you're actually playing)
    Acoustic Sounds: Got to Browser > Sounds > Instruments. Select brass/choir/strings/keys etc. Use subtype acoustic if you want
    Kontakt sounds: The Maschine plus can't play huge libraries but can play basic libraries. You have to re-export your Kontakt sounds (can't be locked). There are videos on youtube showing.

    What's up bolo this is Dutch. Regarding the machine Plus, always get rid of the things that you're not going to use. You got to keep the onboard computer system clear as possible! If you're using one thing in the drum kit, get rid of everything else! That will help you out a lot.

    I’m a Maschine (+) user for years
 I bought a used live II thinking I was going back home to Akai (since 2000xl). However, I just wasn’t able to leave Maschine. It’s been a year since I got my Live II and I’m just now really diving into the MPC Software and fully considering a switch. Especially with the update coming. Overall I’ve learned that neither one is better, it’s all preference.

I’ve been using the + for about a year now, previously was on the MK3 and I as well use it with the computer 99% of the time because of the issues with the sounds and kontakt instruments. Bought an MPC Live 2 and Maschine MK3 at the same time (both used units). I find the Maschine MK3 way easier to make progress with as a total newbie. And the entire computer plus hardware based workflow is just tight in comparison to AKAI. Having said that I do like what AKAI is doing (especially with all those updates). I hope AKAI adds even more vocal and effects options for standalone/live performance. This really should be an area that AKAI owns. If I had to buy only one unit it would definitely be a Maschine MK3 (not the plus). I’m happy that I get to play in both the Native Instruments and AKAI world as they are unique.

    Your criticisms are valid. The Maschine+ was my first groove box and I love it, but there are some glaring issues that shouldn't exist at that price point. The crashing and other performance issues have always been a problem and were 10 times worse during the launch of the device, but a few updates helped improve them. The lack of big updates is another issue that puts a sour taste in my mouth since MPC users get frequent updates that add nice features to their devices. I wish that you could easily add more Kontakt sounds to the groove box and I find myself also using this in controller mode more because I have access to more sounds. I also wish you could create and save your own chords which would be easy for them to implement, but they just won't for whatever reason (There is no good reason not to have this feature esp. at this price point). On another note, there are two ways to auto quantize your input. Hit the Settings button and navigate to page 2. From there, you'll see the word Quantize which should probably have 'None' below it. Changing the 'None' to 'Record' or 'Play/Rec' will enable auto quantize. Quantizing while playing is handled differently from quantizing while recording. I'd look into the manual for more info.

      I used a few other groove boxes before Maschine plus, Roland MC101, and MV1 so for me the Maschine plus was like a dream except for all the crashes I had, works much better after the update 1.4 though but it's so hard to get your projects with ease to Logic Pro. They do not seem to be super good at support either and that is so frustrating I bought some plugins and VST and it was not clear to me that it is not working on the Maschine plus, how do I know what I buy will work on the plus?? Again, NI is not really communicating that well? No good support email and phone number?

    I don't understand the M+. The MK3 and a laptop can do anything a M+ can, and are about as standalone as the M+, but with al the perks of using the Maschine software and any VST you want. The M+ offers a watered down version of all that, but at twice the price, and doesn't seem to be a very stable device neither. I love the NI software and hardware, don't get me wrong, but besides using a Machine without a computer, I think the M+ does not makes much sense. I'll happily continue using my MK3, almost bug free and crash free for 4 years now.

    • @BeauTylerMakesMusic
      @BeauTylerMakesMusic Pƙed 2 lety +1

      Totally fair. But the argument would be that the M+, when connected to a computer, can do everything the MK3 can do yet it can also work in standalone (while having limitations). If that’s worth the price difference to someone is totally up to them, but it’s not really an either/or situation since the Plus serves both roles. That being said, you’re totally right in that it’s not like the Maschine wasn’t already portable with a laptop.

    • @magnuseriksson8081
      @magnuseriksson8081 Pƙed 2 lety

      @@BeauTylerMakesMusic I hope they make the M+ more powerful over time with better software updates and a much easier song mode for vocals and other instruments you record across the whole song. A great phone and Ipad integration could take the portable solution to the next level maybe? I'm surprised that it's not happening already, it could make it a lot easier to do a lot of things and have an amazing overview of all that you do, and add touch solutions in a very small package. Even be powered by the iPad, woooow, cmooooon NI!!!

    For the price for a Maschine +, or any Maschine for that matter we definitely need a recordable performance mode to capture all fader and knob movements in real time, along with tracks mutes in either song or ideas mode, if they NI can nail that, then I’d be like this it right here! When you’re in the sound bank there is a instruments option in there. Your natural sounds and a lot of other sounds are there. Also fwiw it’s a maschine product that you can load every maschine expansion into it. We may eventually get more vsts but those are part of Komplete and it may be a little unfair to expect all of that to work inside maschine. I believe the biggest glaring problem is the crashing and it seems directly related to the md drive. And now I’ve got to go see about the auto quantize I assumed it was there but haven’t checked. Maschine doesn't play nice with external MIDI gear! The way to configure MIDI gear still feels like an afterthought despite all of the updates and revisions.
    Don't get me wrong. The MASCHINE workflow is legit! It is fast and efficient. The time consuming things are looking for and shaping sounds.... you can easily lose inspiration digging through the infinite amount of sounds they provide...

    Same here I use it more like a MK3 but that's me.
    Now for the Kontakt and other plugin in the M+ that thing is still new and they still developping a way to add the whole Komplete in this. For now It's Massive and some light stuff but non serious Plug In yet.
    It may have to do with the internal CPU.
    Now to Hook up with another daw you can get away with the midi settings but in reality it's a whole other nerd thing with the Controller Editor app to set up the Maschine properly. Actually I have some template with Studio One on my Drivensounds CZcams Channel (and some sounds too).

    I don't like it lol truthfully just got on to finally learning the MPC and it's for me. Years ago a friend lending me a Machine to make beats for the crew I couldn't get with it, went back to FL Studio to get the job done. So you ask me, just too complicated plus I love working the MPC once you get it, it's awesome! I know it's totally different but I just wasn't able to get with it...

    MPC World versus Native Instruments World đŸ€” NI Maschine -> Komplete Select -> Komplete 13 can be a slightly more expensive journey, but it’s huge and diverse compared to Akai MPC who have really fallen behind on expansions, instruments and software. Partly ‘cause NI has 200+ partners who comply with *.NKS Kontact standard. Still, Akai MPC was the innovator for these hardware devices and deserve respect.

    Yo just USB your MIDI Keyboard to Mac/PC. Since you have Kontrol Keyboard your MIDI keyboard will follow the Kontrol Keyboard. If you don't have Kontrol Keyboard "On" then your MIDI keyboard will act Generic inside Maschine. No MIDI cables needed, just make sure Kontrol Keyboard is powered on and all MIDI keyboards will follow KK Keyboard and features. Only sounds Preview for NKS files. Open Massive and Kontakt standalone setup library then when back in Maschine. When you open the plugin the 3rd party presets will be in there not in Maschine browser. Only when you right-click save sound in Maschine preset will be in User browser. Yea only after Maschine is when them 3rd party Kontakt disappear in main Library view. You have to use Database view where you'll search instruments of Library that's not in the Library view.

    I thought on maybe getting an old mark 3 if the price was right, but the Machine plus
 nah, it just seemed to miss the mark, being way to overpriced for what it does like you was saying I’d probably just use it as a controller anyways!? As far as the sounds I just got kit maker for like 30 bucks and convert the NI expansions to MPC format complete with previews and for the picture to show in my expansions browser I just run the expansions through MPCs expansion builder and add in the artwork, that’s it, now it’s just a NI expansion that loads up just like one from Akai.

I am surprised that they are not in trouble already, it's been going on for so long, so much better with the latest update though,. 1.4, much better but not perfect. I hope to see another update within a couple of months (dreaming). Love the unit so I do really hope NI improve their customer relationships and will be much better at supporting their customers
