Thank you for watching! And if you haven't read the Madame Chic series yet, check out book one: Lessons from Madame Chic amzn.to/3rhdeeb ✨ I hope you enjoyed today's video. I look forward to reading your comments! Love, Jennifer
Just ordered mine!
Ordered mine ☺
I just got your first one! Taking it on vacation for my reading time!
CZcams suggested I watch the video you did on the Little house on the Prairie books, which I really enjoyed. It was the algorithm thing, because I watch lots of videos about cleaning house and decorating perhaps. I'm so glad they suggested you, I really like all of your content, and I really appreciate these kinds of videos. I need it, I can be crude and unpolished a lot. Thank you!!
I’ve borrowed the first book at my local library, very good easy reading. And the message is without a doubt - life changing!
A coworker once gave me a lift in her car, and I thought the car was brand new, it was so spotless, but she told me it wasn’t new at all. She had had it for years. I said how do you keep it so clean? She said she never eats in it. Never. No Starbucks, no fast food, no snacks, no candy. I was amazed. So if we always eat at a table we will automatically keep our cars cleaner. Thanks for the great video!
My children are grown now but I never let them eat in the car. Recently, I took my 5 year old car to the dealership for an oil change and they said it was "showroom clean". I know I'm rather obsessive about keeping my car clean but it feels good.
My dad taught us to keep our cars clean. He’d say regardless of how much money you have or what you drive, you can keep your car clean. My husband and I don’t forbid our child from eating or drinking in our vehicles, or ourselves BUT we detail our vehicles ourselves regularly and they remain looking new. Pride in ownership. A rarity these days, but most certainly obtainable!! When I sell any car or trade, dealers are blown away. Feels good and we get a bit more too.
My chic grandmother born in 1923 was offered a scone for the road after a women's meeting and my grandmother replied, "I never eat in the car." Her car was always ready to receive riders and ready for a spirit of service.
My vehicle is 16 years old and looks so good. My dad taught me to keep our cars clean. We never took a trip without “detailing” the car. I do hope to get a new vehicle soon!!!! Lol.

I’d love a whole video about “how to speak”. Tone of voice, volume, pitch, articulation, enunciation, speed, filler words, etc. SO important!
I belive her fellow youtuber Audrey Coyne has excellent video about it:)
@@pedromazas Thanks for the suggestion. I watched it. It was really great!
Yes, please do a video on "not over reacting." I used to have a terrible attitude. I have been in more fights than I'd care to say. Now as a mother and Christian I have over come a lot of my old ways. However, I think it is important to be reminded and have tools to be better. I have learned a lot from watching your channel. I really appreciate what you do here. Most people I know are not intentional about how they live. There is just something so beautiful and sweet about living a rich full life intentionally. So, thank you!
I completely understand what you are saying.
Well said!
Yes, please do a video on reacting, how we can choose to respond during circumstances, and attitude!
I am totally on the same page as you, trying so hard to stop being such a reactive person! I want to set a better example for my son and to live a life more pleasing to God.
Yes Hannah, good suggestion! We all could be reminded of our attitude at times. Your past behavior doesn't have to dictate your future. And we have to be on guard to not let it creep back up on us if we are on a journey towards change. I am always asking the Lord to help me check my heart posture. 👍🏻❤️
One of my favourite maxims is “learn to respond, not to react”
When I am simultaneously watching my children and talking with someone, I make sure to start the conversation with direct eye contact and say, “I want you to know I’m listening to you even though I’m not giving you my eyes. This conversation is important to me.” Then I look after my children.
I was just about to comment something similar! When in those situations I always assure my companion I'm listening and interested, I'm just keeping my eyes on my children.
I am Luli Amaro from Guatemala, I am 64, homeschooled my 4 children all through elementary, They live in Europe and you Jenifer inspire me. Thank you
For Tip#1: Try ballet exercises! Dance is an amazing way to improve posture and body awareness.
Great tip!
Not just ballet. Belly dance, and classical Indian dance really focuses on perfect posture.
Yes! I'm 62 years old and take a ballet class once a week. I love it!
About the clean car. I have five kids and I made a rule that everyone (including myself) must take ALL ITEMS out of the car as we arrive at home. No exceptions. Also no eating in the car (unless on a long road trip). Consider the safety factor. Lose items become dangerous projectiles and small children make choke on food. Choking is silent! You might not even notice. Be safe, keep your car clean ❤️
I do this too. When we get home everyone must take any and all items into the house to put away. And when I get gas I make sure to look for stray trash to throw away.
I have these rules too!
I agree; along with no eating in the car and removing items upon return home, my family with four kids had the habit of NOT taking anything IN the car when we left home.
I have the "pack it out" rules too!
I share the same opinion as you! I love a clean car and the added safety is a great bonus!
The eating reminds me of my grandmother. She was so elegant. I never ever remember her standing to eat. Ever. And she always sat down with anyone that was eating alone. Like if we stopped over and she gave us a snack or made us something to eat. She always sat down with us and had the blessing with us. I sure miss her.
I’m one of your older viewers so was never allowed to eat in the street as a child. I have brought my children up to be the same. Food is a delight and deserves respect
As a former high school teacher, I was appalled at how students were encouraged to eat in the hallways. When the bell rang, students often set the food in the hallway to be trampled on and for custodians to pick up. I never got used to it. It hurt my heart not only because of the disrespect toward the food and the workers, but for the lack of self-respect it insinuated.
Thank you! It is astonishing to hear so much foul language in public. The other day at a ball park, an older (over 50) woman in line was frustrated about her order and kept dropping f-bombs out loud. Then turned to me and expressed her frustration with more of the same. I am very much offended by people who so casually talk this way. I hear your voice in my head at these times - remain calm and stay classy.
omg, yes. Our new neighbors use the f word between every word. When the husband was yelling at me about blocking a shared driveway, which I was not, and using the f bomb, my husband told them to stop swearing. They actually said it was not swearing! They are so frustrating. There are two children in that home, they will both be using that language going forward.
Handbags YES! When my father passed away, we were at a large table, I reached into my handbag to pull out my wallet and a tampon flew through the air and landed in the middle of the table! I was mortified. But I stood up, retrieved it and didn’t miss a beat in what I was saying. My Dad would have found it hilarious but I wanted to slink out.
Haha- with all of this excellent advice, I also think to have a sense of humor about one's self is important. It "humanizes" you, and truly the person who can laugh at herself is commanding a situation that might otherwise have commanded her!
I would add that being kind and empathetic is always elegant.
I love that you're so relatable. I often unsubscribe from channels that come across as better than. We all have our struggles, even those who have it together. Thank you for being real. It's so inspirational.
I think also not moaning and groaning about everything is a good habit.
Growing up we were never allowed to whine! Now I cant stand it when I hear kids and even adults whining.
Agree. Moaning and groaning just pulls everyone down.
Complaining about things (life, wages, spouse, children...) - Yes, this is important and just very annoying when people do do that. I guess it falls into TMI (Cultivate the air of Mystery) category.
@@greener336 guess so…
I agree, if you are a regular person, and if you don’t have a youtube video, don’t share too much about your personal life!
I have a tip for keeping a clean car. I never leave anything in the car. When I get home I take everything that does not belong in the car out. It was a hard habit to start but now it is second nature and really does not take that much time.
Me too
That’s my method too! All my life. No empty water bottles, no hair pins no straw papers, nothing is left in the car. If I am running errands and have accumulated some trash before I get home, I will drop it in any receptacle that is on my last stop. Or I will put everything that is not for the car, including trash, into one of the shopping bags I’m taking out of the car anyway and sort it when I am unpacking the bags. Having a little OCD helps but it’s a habit that can be easily learned.
I struggle to be diligent in this area as I have ADHD which means I procrastinate a lot!! I find it helpful to give myself a weekly slot dedicated to cleaning my car. Even though my children usually destroy it again immediately, as Jennifer mentioned! I'm training them to bring in their own stuff every time we leave the car so that I only have my own mess to clear up!
@@laurensheldrake2902 I totally get where you are coming from. I also have ADHD but I was not diagnosed until 35. I think that is why I have so many rules for myself like not leaving anything in the car. Great job on working out systems that work for you. We are all a work in progress. 😀
What a great idea! In fact, I left my sunglasses and other stuff in my car once, someone broke the glasses and stole everything in my car. If my car had nothing, I might have avoided the whole thing
Great, practical tips! I think another one could be to watch for unnecessary sighing. I find myself doing this when tired, sore, etc. but it really is an unpolished habit! Take a nice, deep quiet breath, but ditch the loud sighs! :)
Thank you for all the elegance tips. As a person who is learning so much from you, but at the same time (maybe this is oversharing) am learning that I am probably a very high functioning autistic woman, I can say that for all my life I have struggled to make eye contact and at the same time be able to concentrate on what the other person is saying. Eye contact can feel so intense and so intimate. I agree that eye contact is important because some people will not further their engagement with someone who is struggling. Someone with autism may come across creepy because they are so aware of this problem and may be trying too hard to give eye contact. You do not need to have perfect eye contact to be a good listener or have interesting things to say. It is hard to keep trying when we feel repeatedly dismissed for this. So my tip, always try to be patient and kind, you may not share or fully understand another person's struggles.
❤
Thank you for saying this! I appreciate it.
Amber, am also probably (undiagnosed) high functioning autistic woman. Social interaction is difficult, both eye contact, not over sharing, not interrupting, etc. also body awareness/spatial awareness is hard for me. I can relate to the poor gate (stomping) and posture issues. So hard! I feel I will never be an elegant woman. I really have a hard to related to my own sex because of these issues. I admire Jennifer and other elegant women so much.
@@veronicav575 I can relate to those! I also need a lot more time to process, do things, and rest. It helps me so much when she and other people show how they dress, clean, plan, and tackle things.
Thanks for letting us know. I will certainly keep it in mind... Direct eye contact can also be interpreted as bad manners in some cultures. I learnt this whilst doing (Australian) Aboriginal cultural awareness training. In such cultures in can be more appropriate to stand (or sit) side by side, rather than facing each other.
If you have a problem maintaining eye contact with someone, look at the bridge of their nose. Then it appears like you're looking them in the eye! I used to have a job meeting the public on a daily basis, and we were given that advice by our supervisor.
That lip color looks wonderful on you.
Thank you!
I would love a video, for example, how how not to overreact in a family situation. What I’m referring to are those times in life when the entire extended family is involved, manipulation may be going on, your spouse is drawn into it, and wha-laa I overreact ( when I normally am cool, calm, and collected).
I have simply released myself from Facebook. It was becoming toxic. I still stay engaged with my friends but they know I do not post or watch FB any longer and I feel much calmer.
I have the worst posture. I played the piano for 14 yrs and the saxophone for 10! Tenor and bari. I never thought about those being connected. That’s so cool you played the sax!
I really enjoy your channel. The English language is such a challenge. As a grandma now I remember speaking with my grandson when he was about two he is now 12. He was upset and I was trying to calm him down saying I know you are upset, that upset him more, then I realized he was hearing No not know. So I try to use the word understand, which I did with him and he was calmer. This i learned being a grandma. We never stop learning
So true....
I think we’d all love to see more of your thoughts on emotional intelligence! (e.g., not overreacting etc.)
This was terrific! I'm always asking people to sit down to eat and Give Thanks. It is also annoying when I am driving and my passenger is using derogatory words at other drivers. Basically I'm the only one that hears the words.
This is one of my favorite videos of all time!! I agree with everything you have said and for me, it's one day at a time, working slowly but surely on all these details of elegance, surrounding myself with beauty (and that means trying to have a clean car, lol!), and being disciplined to fight against my natural lazy habits, so that I can become that woman of grace and sophistication that I desire to be.......
Yes, to not letting people rush you, whether at family or at work. I would love a video on this. 💖
I agree!
I struggle with being rushed. I would like tips on not letting people rush me.
I feel so much better when my car
is clean!
I keep my car clean at all times and feel like it drives better when it’s clean.
A video on not overreacting and keeping cool to maintain elegance would be wonderful. I’m a bit expressive and would like to learn how to tone that down while not becoming boring. Such a nice topic, thank you for bringing this up.
I would love that as well!
OMGosh - I have been totally called out !!! Thank you, spoken like a good friend.
My car is shameful and I wonder why I haven’t paid attention to it before. Thanks for the prompt - it will cleaned at the weekend.
Since I’ve been subscribed, I’ve been watching my language. It’s a work in progress but all advice will be gratefully received. Thanks for another inspiring video.
I used to tell people that I could survive at least a week with all the stuff left in my car, and I don't even have kids. Recently, I bought a box that's made for frozen grocery items (I live in FL). Since I don't always need to use the box, but it's in the car, I stashed all the stuff that used to be randomly thrown into the back seat, into this box. For instance, the maps, the Kleenex, hats, two aprons for when we DO eat in the car (took me 66 years to figure that out) but you get the idea. Good luck. It is a challenge.
On watching your language, I was raised in a swearing house but have tried to cut out all curses the last couple of years too. I found having go to clean phrases for my most commonly used swears was helpful. But then next step is refrain from exclaiming altogether. I used to "Jesus Christ" and "Come the f*** on" all the time as expressions of frustration or incredulity. So step one was saying substitutes like "geez" or "seriously?" Step two is not vocalizing in an exasperated manner at all. It's remarkable at how much controlling your words actually betters situations and prevents you from being huffy.
@@sweetthistle8 thanks for sharing this. I spend a lot of my time with people who swear a lot and it’s catching, unfortunately. I am making progress but it still slips out. I love the idea of finding alternatives - especially ‘seriously’! That will work. Thanks again x
@@sweetthistle8 I love your step two! I rarely curse but do use those substitute phrases. But even better to just refrain from exclaiming, that is real self control and much more elegant!
Yes please on a video on 'how not to over-react' and a video on the book review that you mentioned. Great video as always.
I really like the concept of dining with dignity. I have a toddler and often eat hurriedly standing at the stove so I can "enjoy" what I'm eating.
You're not alone!
I hide in my bathroom to eat. Lol
@@veronicav575 😂😂😂 yes!
Ma'am, I live in bengaluru, I really love watching your videos..
Thank you for watching ♥️
Well done. Thank you. I got up and cleaned the doggie nose prints off my car windows.
As far a clean purses go, every morning I pour my purse out and put back only what goes there. I just can't stand a junky purse. It makes me feel junky.
I unintentionally discovered a great way to “keep” my handbag tidy!!! 😃 I have these cute small handbags that are only large enough to keep my most frequently used items like cc, phone & lipstick which I use as my “wallet” which I pull out of my MAIN large handbag when I arrive to my location and I leave the MAIN bag locked in my car. This way I always feel secured & prepared because I have all the things I “might” need with me or in my car at all times & still be polished in my presentation ☺️👍
I do something like this too. It's great!
Yes! I do that too! I keep a few items that I don't need often in my trunk so that my car doesn't look like a mini-warehouse.
Yes! I do this as well.
I love this idea! I haveca massive bag which is really useful, but I always lose things. Bags within a bag, why did I never think of this! 😁
Bless you bless you for the improvements to society that you help to facilitate! Love love.
Thank you for mentioning "I want." I thought I was the only one sensitive to this phrase.
I also am grateful that my mother enrolled me in ballet classes at a very young age. It led to my being a tad more graceful than most!
This :) US tourists coming back to Europe drop this all the time now which doesn't come across as "less elegant" here but as insulting. This wasn't common back in 2019, is it a new language fad?
The tip that hit home with me is not to hurry. For some reason I used to be in a hurry out of habit, not even because I was running late. I always arrived flustered, out of breath and probably a little bit sweaty, lol! I’ve learned to slow down, but it’s still such a struggle for me. I think I often have a too ambitious “to do” list and I rush around trying to get everything done. Posture is a tough one for me too. I love these tips though, because it’s never too late to improve an area of our self presentation. Thanks Jennifer!
I would appreciate hearing about the book you are reading as well as not over-reacting. This can especially be a challenged with family members as at work or in social settings one may have more natural reserve. Thank you!
Dear Jennifer, I have been re-watching your older videos. My dear mum was a very elegant lady. Unfortunately, I lost her 2 years ago. Watching your videos gives me some comfort and reminds me to strive for elegance. I really like your advice, it's like listening to a wise and elegant friend. Thank you😊.
I love the reminder about keeping your car clean (and your purse). It got so difficult for me that I made these changes:
- I try to schedule “a date” with our family car once every 1-2 months to declutter it, and take it through a car wash and to use the huge vacuum hoses that can get dirt, bark, pebbles, crumbs, from under seats and inside car seats.
- We keep a small trash bag in the car in the front seat and I take it out regularly. It’s really helpful to immediately throw away used tissues, napkins, wrappers, old receipts
- I keep a little wicker basket in the car. We have a van now with our 4 kids, and I was tired of cleaning up random toys, kicked-off shoes, baby items, and other random things that we like in the car but don’t have a place for them. Having a “catch-all” basket in my car has made it SO much easier to keep it clean. I still have to Declutter it frequently but now I don’t have to carry as much in my diaper bag (amen!) because I have the backups I need in the car basket. When I tidy up the car quickly, I can just put anything that is on the floor into the basket.
- I now rotate between 4 purses (often depending on my outfit) and this helps me keep my purse organized and decluttered. I keep a lot of items in clear bags (like those cheap, clear makeup “jelly purse” bags you can get at Walmart) and so I can easily move my necessities from one bag to the other. When I was younger I used to use Ziplocs for this purpose but now I use little bags, so very little is loose in my purse.
- I set a time to tidy, restock, and organize my diaper bag BEFORE I go anywhere. I find if it’s nicely organized beforehand then I’m not frantically throwing extra things into our car, and having a respected diaper bag helps me keep the car more clean.
My mom taught me how to keep car clean. I tuck a few small plastic bags in a back seat pocket. When ever there is trash or something that shouldn’t be left in the car, I bag it and bring it in every time or every other day- then there’s no build up!
Can I say you look GREAT with a red lip? I am also a brunette, and we rock it!
Clean car: funny story. I just returned from a trip to the Midwest. (I’m from California). Seems like Midwestern folks keep their cars very clean. My car is usually a disaster. But yesterday I just had a deep clean done on my car and pledge to keep it neat and clean from now on.
I loved your suggestions! How thoughtful. I've been watching Netflix's "Crown" on DVD. It's remarkable how calm, cool, and collected Queen Elizabeth was at such a young age. She was always thoughtful and never reactive. She sought input from others and listened. What a role model. Thank you as well for sharing how to be thoughtful and elegant.
Watching this while eating a muffin over the sink 😆
We should do lunch then!!!! :)
🤣🤣🤣
💐🌷💐 too funny!
As long as you have perfect posture, you’re fine.
I almost spit out my coffee, lol 😆
I had my children put a bundle of grocery bags in the car in a pouch behind the seat and when it’s time to get out, I have all the kiddos pick up the trash and put it in a grocery bag and bring it in the house to throw away.
I have caught myself in very bad habit and definitely not elegant: I cut people off when they talk- so rude ..I’m trying to fix this bad habit
Awareness is key. Most people aren't even aware so you're miles ahead ✨

I recently suffered through the most horrifying incident in a department store. My purse fell out of a cart onto the floor, Upside down, spilling all the contents including the sand from the beach, crumbs from whatever, and 300 (exaggeration) little ponytail holders because I have three girls. My two teenage girls were oscillating between utter humiliation and complete hysteria. They will never let me live it down and I’m sure the people in line behind me have a good story to tell😂😭
You should do a collaboration, teatime, or interview with Nicolas Fairford. Like you, he is darling.

Hi Jennifer! Can you please share a video about your hair styling routine? I remember you mentioning that you get keratin treatments, and as a woman who also gets keratin for my long, naturally curly/wavy hair, I would love to hear about your favourite blowdrying products and techniques.
I would like to know how you achieve your hair style as well.
Yes, I agree! It is important that we care enough to do our part in being effortlessly polished!
Hello Jennifer, thank you for your beautiful videos. I am one of the many followers that have been with you since your first scarf video 10 years ago. I’ve danced ballet my entire life, and I cannot tell you how many times people have commented on my good posture and poise. Ballet most definitely will give you effortless natural elegance and grace. Lots of love and blessings to you dear one! 💗
Thank you, Elizabeth! I always wished I took ballet as a child. I bet your posture is beautiful.
Thank you Jennifer! 💗 It is never too late to start ballet and to be quite honest, you move and look like a dancer.
Thank you Elizabeth and Jennifer. As a child I was fascinated by ballet and wanted to learn.
Teachers were not available where we lived, so I watched movies and tried to imitate.
Just lately I’ve been wondering if I might try it since I’m retired and feeling a bit challenged with my balance. Your encouraging words give me hope.
@@portiaread9484 I am trying too to work on that too! Look up Kathryn Morgan on youtube. Shes a former NYC ballet dancer and has many videos of all levels. Shes has one especially on leg strength and balance which Im doing often
Excellent. The air of mystery is my favorite.
Jennifer, you are the picture of elegance. I definitely need to work on eating ONLY sitting down for sure.
Can't wait to hear about the awaited new book.
Thank you, Nadege!
I've been slowly going through your Connoisseur Kids book with my 5 year old and now she calls me out when I'm not making good eye contact! "Mommy, make eye contact!"
When we moved to our home, a full length mirror was put aside in a corner to keep it out of the way during unpacking. Right away I noticed the light being reflected to a darker area, which I liked. But then I noticed myself "straightening up' each time I walked towards it. There the mirror remains as part of the decor.
Both my daughter and I have a slight spinal curvature, not enough to be diagnosed as scoliosis, but enough to force us to make a conscious effort to "straighten up" when we walk. It had to become a habit, though.
Would like to hear more about not overreacting etc. Great tips!
Jennifer, Thank you for these tips. I wish I had friends who were more like you and the ladies who are a part of your youtube community. I often feel a little awkward at work because I was sort of raised with several of these things that you speak of, but often I feel people think I'm miss goody goody or I feel that I don't fit in because I don't have tatoos and tend to dress in more of a classic manner. I guess I sort of stick out.
I would say "stand out" instead of "stick out". And standing out from the crowd is a good thing! This was me over 30 years ago in my first office job. I was treated differently (more respectfully) because I dressed and acted ladylike. Never regretted being true to myself!
I dress classy too and have No tattoos either and I have no regrets! I think we should be proud of ourselves to be different than all those other people! I never followed trends and I always want to be classy!
You are not alone!! 😊
I m actually surprised to learn that being classy can be seen as stick out. I m more attracted to classy and polite people though
Sending love 💕 and friendship to you!
please do a not overreacting video Jennifer! Getting the looks is the easiest, having the good posture is not easy, but being elegant from inside is the hardest part! I used to get offended when people bumped into me without saying sorry, really need that video to remind me not to overreacted
Great video! Thank you for being one of the few resources on becoming elegant. Would love a video on not overreacting!
I have problems with rushing in my actions and my thinking. I have to keep your instruction present in my mind at all times. I find people and myself get impatient with moving methodically. It takes so much persistent practice to be poised and elegant. Your instruction is timeless as I remember learning these things when I was a young girl as it was common practice to raise girls by sending them to "finishing schools" and there were children's books talking about manners. This seems to have all gone by the wayside and probably one big reason for our hardened society these days. Thank you so much for all of your wonderful patience and beauty❣️
All of these are exceptionally good tips! I for one am trying to make sure I sit while eating, especially my kids. That's where the practuce of elegant table manners start. Dignified dinning!😄 Breakfast and lunch are the ones that are the hardest to instil this rule! One suggestion for posture - take an online beginner ballet class. You will find your good posture immediately! Even if you are not a dancer. I have seen non dancers go from slumped to straight and lengthened instantly! There are a million free classes on CZcams ladies - and it's fun! Great, GREAT second part to this topic.
Any suggestions for online ballet class?
@@Julia29853 Absolutely! I'll list some of my favorites because they offer beginner through advanced classes on their channels, as well as strength and stretching workouts. Just search the name I list and you'll find them.
Katherine Morgan - former soloist with the New York City Ballet. You can find all kinds of beautiful classes on her channel and lots of interesting dance information.
Lazy Dancer Tips - I can't recall the company she danced with but this is the perfect channel for non dancers in my opinion. Great , sweet teacher!
Maria Khoreva - a first soloist with The Mariinsky Ballet in Russia. She has loads of excellent stretch and strengthening workouts and ballet classes sprinkled throughout (the ballet is pretty high level) She gears it towards everyone but bare in mind she is a super high level dancer - don't let her amazing skill level scare you off. She is lovely in personality and in her teaching!
Canada's National Ballet School - Adult Ballet with Ian Parsons - there are only a handful of these classes by Ian but they are soooooooo wonderful for the beginner and he is really lighthearted and funny during the class. He is a top notch instructor.
Any of these are a great place to start. Just choose what you like best. I wish you well!!!
I love the handbag tip. My son jokes "Mummy needs a new bag, this one is full". I insist on real plates. I'm always surprised when people tell me I should use paper plates. My every day plates are Johnson Brothers Blue Willow and I love them. I really need to work on not overreacting. Not in a confrontational way but getting emotional.
@@greener336 that's an excellent point. I never thought to say that, thank you!
I would love to see more videos on not over reacting and over sharing. These are my weakest points.
I didn’t know about your E-Course on poise 😱 I have to check it out 💖
I loved your tip on a start to finish experience! And on the car- I couldn't help but laugh. We have a 5-month-old Great Pyrenees pup and I was not prepared for the amount of white hair everywhere! We've actually made one of our cars stricktly to take the dog in and one that we can dress up in or wear church clothes in! ~Claire
Your a beautuful elegant lady. I could listen to you all day. Yes, I am guilty of a few things on that list. My posture, I walk around with any finger food, chomping away on it and I do things in a hurry. I definitely will work on those areas. Thank you Jennifer for this eye opening video.💕
I agree with you on meals being eaten sitting down. It is a time to not just nourish ourselves, but be mindful of what we are eating and enjoying those we are sharing a meal with.
Here in France and most of Europe, if we have to place our cutlery down while still eating, we never place them in the way you did in your video. We place the fork on the plate in the 7 or 8 position of a clock face and the knife on top at 4 or 5 position on clock face. It's very interesting to observe different behaviours.
Keeping a clean car (and handbag), not being rushed, and sitting down to eat are all things that have gotten much more difficult for me since having children! But they’re all so important.
I appreciated that you included not using curse words. That’s something my husband and I both find very distasteful, but it seems as though it’s becoming more commonplace, even in a work environment.
I know you said the list wasn’t comprehensive, but along with watching what you say, gossiping is something that for me, once someone does, I view them in a different light. And it puts me in a very uncomfortable position when someone starts gossiping to me, because I personally don’t share information with others about others that I wouldn’t share in front of the person we’re talking about. So at times I will address the fact that it’s gossip head-on or other times, I just don’t engage and change the subject, but either way, it can be an awkward time. I don’t want to be associated as a gossip, nor do I want my opinion to change about someone else based on personal information someone has divulged that may or may not be true. Do you have advice on how to elegantly respond when someone is gossiping to you and you want to kindly make it clear you are interested?
I clean my handbag weekly, after I erase my email spam! It's so nice to have just the things I need and nothing else in there. This is a great list, thank you for what you do!
Hi, I joined the chic society but terminated my membership because I was getting billed each month from CZcams and I had not expected that. Also, the podcast would not play on my iPad. Just FYI.
Love your content and will continue to watch the CZcams videos.
I love this video, especially what you’re saying about eating only while seated! I used to work in public schools and I saw all kinds of bad habits developing in the classroom including allowing kids to run around while eating. Drove me crazy and when I was in charge, this didn’t happen. I also disagreed with allowing them to watch movies during lunch. I believe kids are better off learning how to pleasantly converse with the people around them at mealtime. Kids don’t need constant entertainment, but that’s how they’re being trained. They are also rushed along... throughout the day. Home schooling so much better. 😊
Yeah, it is easy to forget that society makes rules for how we present ourselves. It is important that we care enough to do our part.
Can’t wait to hear about the book !
Love this video.
One way I keep my van is clean is to clean it out every time I get gas. It really helps.
yup. that's what i do too! every weds: i fill up the tank, go through the car wash & then vacuum the inside and tiny up
This was very interesting.
I noticed you used your fork in your left hand (English husband?) and didn’t cut your food then swap your fork to the right hand to eat. I think the swap hands routine looks awkward.
At least a thousand years ago, when I was a child, I was taught to ask for something by saying “May I please have…..”. The pandemic certainly has brought out the worst in many. Physically fighting over toilet paper in a supermarket, really?
I’m old and maybe the world doesn’t need manners and decorum any more but another thing I was taught was “manners are the lubricant of social interaction”.
Good luck with your campaign for change. 🦘🇦🇺
Jennifer.. This soft yellow is definitely your colour ! You look amazing ! 😍
The clean car is a struggle. Mum of 4 here
Perhaps having children to place trash to trash can as they exit the car. In time, it might turn into an automatic habit 👌. Wishing you well!
Yes, me too. It’s especially hard when the 3 year old gets car sick and after a 30 min. Drive, she’s yaking up her breakfast. 😓
One way I hv seen my dad keep the car clean is..everytime he needs to go out ,he spreads old newspapers on the floor in the front n backseat too...That way as he or us gets in n out,our shoes keep leaving mud n dust..When he is bk he removes the papers n puts them in trash..
Great video, such good advice! Thanks so much. 💕
Love this! Please make a video geared towards teens and elegance
This is a perfect continuation!! Such good points and reminders.
I’m looking forward to the book review! ❤️
Loved this one! Great reminders, especially the one on not over-reacting. You're so right, there is nothing elegant about flying off the handle! I love your necklace today too...actually, your whole ensemble and look is gorgeous!
Another lovely video, Jennifer. : ) One strategy I have found helpful for both creating an air of mystery and keeping a tidy work station is to completely de-personalize my cubicle at work. There are only practical, work-related items at my desk, and I have had many people comment on how "boring" it is, but I find it much better for working and being more mysterious. : ) I would also add "speaking lower and slower" to being well spoken. All of the loveliest conversationalists in my life speak with a more controlled and measured pace, and a "lower register/tone at the front of the mouth" (if that makes sense!). It is so pleasing to the ear. Voice lessons are definitely on my list of avenues to explore this year. : ) Thank you again for the encouragement!
I love your polished videos! And beautiful smile!
We need this! Ty Jennifer. Would love to see Part 3. 👌
Such a great video!! I would love to hear more when you are able to make another video about this subject. Thank you, Jennifer!
good refresher!
Such a great video. Thank you.
Lovely, lovely video, Jennifer!
I love all your tips!!!
Hi Jennifer, What a great video! All the tips are excellent (I am going to go clean out our car right now! LOL!!) but I especially love the tip about staying calm. The movie Remains of the Day has so many examples about learning how to stay calm. I highly recommend it. And I am so thrilled to hear you recommend to avoid using curse words. I can't stand curse words! Thank you so much for all you do and share - you are definitely the picture of elegance! Love, Mary
Anthony Hopkins performance was brilliant!
I am so behind, trying to declut , yet it wouldn’t take that long to get my car in order and then I would have a win under my belt.
I love these videos. Thank you! I really enjoy learning and applying these topics to my life.
Thank you for reminding us of these long lost arts of elegance, I really needed these reminders! I should watch this video once a week!!
