Do I get to the bottom of it? Hell yes I do.

"Rockstar" is the fifth U.S. single by the Canadian rock band Nickelback from their fifth album, All the Right Reasons. It was initially only released in the United States and Canada, and has since been re-released worldwide. The lyrics feature the hopes of someone who desires to be a rockstar. Spoken-word vocals between each verse are provided by Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.
"Rockstar" is one of Nickelback's most popular singles to date, peaking at number two in the United Kingdom (their highest-charting single in that country) and being certified Platinum. It has also sold 4.5 million copies in the United States.
Rolling Stone ranked "Rockstar" at number 100 in their list of the 100 best songs of 2007. Aside from its praise from Rolling Stone and popularity, some have even labelled it one of the worst songs of all time. "Rockstar" was listed at number 2 in BuzzFeed's list of the 30 worst songs ever written The Guardian's Peter Robinson claimed that the song was "...a Smack the Pony skit without the laughter track; ironic, given that Rockstar is one of the most unintentionally hilarious songs of the last few years. It is also one of most confusing."
All the Right Reasons is the fifth studio album by Canadian rock band Nickelback, released on October 4, 2005, on Roadrunner Records. It is the band's first album with former 3 Doors Down drummer Daniel Adair, who replaced Ryan Vikedal in January 2005. The album topped the Canadian Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200 albums chart and has sold 11 million copies worldwide. It is Nickelback's best-selling album to date, according to certifications from the CRIA, the RIAA, the BPI, and the ARIA. Seven singles were released from the album. The album re-entered the Finland Albums Chart in 2010, setting a new peak position at number 21.
All the Right Reasons was certified diamond by the RIAA in March 2017 and had sold 7.96 million copies in the US as of December 2015, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time in the US. In Canada, All the Right Reasons was certified 7× Platinum by the CRIA in March 2010.
Nickelback is a Canadian rock band formed in 1995 in Hanna, Alberta. It is composed of guitarist and lead vocalist Chad Kroeger, guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger and drummer Daniel Adair. It went through several drummer changes between 1995 and 2005, reaching its current lineup when Adair replaced Ryan Vikedal.
In 2005, the band's best-selling album to date, All the Right Reasons, produced three top-ten and five top-twenty singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including "Photograph", "Far Away", and "Rockstar", the latter of which was their biggest success in the United Kingdom.

Guilty pleasure... ugh... I actually like Creed. I know, i know... but Scott Stapp is a great vocalist and Tremonti is a beast. If they didn't get overplayed, I bet theyd have a lot more respect underground. Well... that and Stapp's drunken escapades.

I forced myself to listen to this crappy song to see the review. I am now officially retroactively offended by every one of your metal reviews, you give “Pull me under” lyrics 8.5 and you award this piss poor shallow adolescent aggrandizement of a vacuous cardboard “rockstar” life an 8??!?!!!!! Are you out of your mind?
I pray the gods of metal to have pity of your soul.
This was the first time I ever heard this song and I hope it will be the last. I also guarantee you, I do not know a single person that would sing this and I am very confident to report to you none of my friends would even listen enough of this crap to learn the lyrics. If I do know anyone that does, that person would automatically be disqualified as friend candidate on the ground of poor music taste alone.

This song is all about the lyrics and I remember standing in bars and hearing a lot of patrons stop what they are B.S.-ing about to sing-a-long, SO... how can a band & song be BAD when they do what they generally are designed to do, let people have fun and enjoy life.â€đŸ˜Š

As a friend of mine once told me, who also heard this from a friend etc, "If you play any Nickelback song backwards, you will hear messages from the devil. If you play it forwards, even worse, you'll hear Nickelback!"đŸ€ŁPersonally, I've never been a HUGE fan of Nickelback but I will admit that back in the day this song was a banger for me. But then I started focusing my attention on Tool, Opeth, Nightwish, Evergrey, Within Temptation and a host of other bands and I just kinda left this band by the wayside. Music is, like everything, subjective. I thoroughly enjoyed this, even if the song made me cringe!

Lol. I despise this band but I never jumped on the hate bandwagon. They've done something right and a lot of people are lying about liking them as evidenced by their sales numbers. Good for them, they've accomplished a lot.
All that said, this is my favorite "reaction" channel because I'm a nerd and the analysis is always fair. I wanted to see it get a score of like... 2... but I cant deny your opinions are valid.

I’ll say it now, THIS is my biggest guilty pleasure song of all time. I know people hate it a lot, even crash thompson gave some reasons why it was his worst rock hits of 2006 video, but honestly, I don’t even care. Is it groundbreaking? No. Can it be generic and derivative? Yeah. Is it a bit disingenuous to hear nickelback say they’ll sing songs that offend the censors?
.I mean they got away with figured you out, so
.maybe? But honestly, it’s a song that’s been ingrained in my head and whenever I hear it turned on, I’ll sing every word to it without hesitation. It’s catchy, it’s dumb, it’s fun, and I can’t help but love it. And besides, there are worse songs from this band, like everything I wanna do, something in your mouth, S.E.X., even photograph to an extent.

Nickelback is one of those bands that I don't particularly care for, But also don't understand why they're so hated.
I can understand it to a degree given how overplayed their music was for over a decade. But even still, There's really nothing about their music that strikes me as being any better or worse than all of the other Post-Grunge bands out there. Cause they all make very surface level radio rock. (Though an argument could be made in favor of Chevelle and early Godsmack)
I think the reason why Nickelback, Along with Creed and Puddle Of Mudd receive a lot of flack is because of how much bigger they were in comparison. Bands like Seether and Three Days Grace were dominant forces on rock radio but they didn't have as much of a presence on the Hot 100, Whereas those three had multiple Top 10 singles.
I also think the antics of the front-men have a lot to do with the criticism as well, Cause some people already aren't fond of Chad's, Scott's, and Wes' singing styles, So when they start getting caught up in doing bad stuff it tends to escalate the hatred even further. Though I don't think Chad's had nearly as much controversy as Scott and Wes have. (Wes Scantlin single handedly destroyed POM's image, Almost to the point of no repair)
Though like I said, I've got nothing against Nickelback, They're music is passable. Same can be said for Creed and Puddle Of Mudd. (All bands peaked with their first few albums which I'd consider genuinely good)
As far as bad Post-Grunge bands are concerned, I think Theory of a Deadman, Hinder, and Trapt are far worse than those three could ever dream of being.

Even though I'm a huge fan of Post-Grunge, I can't say I'm a Nickleback fan. And, while I've heard other, better tracks from that album, I've honestly never heard this one, so I had no problem giving it an objective listen. While, yes, the lyrics had a good flow to them, that's really the best thing this song has going for it. On the whole, it sounded to me pretty indistinguishable from every third song on a Country radio station, but I guess that isn't surprising given Nickleback's from cowboy country in Alberta, Canada. I do admire a band that sticks to their roots, but, sorry, Francis, I can't agree on the originality part.

@thomasmalmin6194. Agreed...to me it sounded like a generic cheesy pop/country song with rock vocals and guitars. The clever lyrics (bordering on novelty/comedy) and vocal melody are pretty much the only redeeming feature of this song for me. Overall, listenable, but disposable. Cheers!

@@slow11189 I understood your initial statement. I disagree that they are the average, average pop to me becomes background, it is boring to listen if you pay attention to it but you can just ignore. This song is downright annoying, I had to make an effort to reach the end of the video, it is not that it is something not likeable, I actively disliked it, in fact I was quite literally repulsed by it, at some point I found myself moving away from the sound, something I will say is the instinct of “turn off or flight”, and that is not factoring in the lyrics, with the lyrics they even manage to make the song even worse.
I mainly listen to metal, but I can say I like songs from a huge selection which includes but is not limited to: p-funk, Motown, blues, boss’s nova, jazz, blue grass, pop, classic, rock, hard rock, prog, mpb

If we are grading on popularity, sure, it's highly memorable. But musically, cmon, it's unoriginal - lame satire of rock stars, it's over produced - Billy Gibbons stunt casting and on the nose sound effects, the composition is basic, a plodding tempo, clocking in at over 4 minutes, at least the other novelty songs had the good sense to be about 2 minutes.
