    To me "that funny feeling" is just that indescribable feeling that something's not right. A feeling you can't quite put your finger on. It doesn't really have a name, it's just "that funny feeling." And these are some the things that give Bo that feeling. I love the complexity of this song, and yet it is a bop for sure! Would love for you to react to the whole special at some point. One method I've seen that works well is to record just your reaction with a time stamp in the corner and the viewers can sync it with their own Netflix. Doesn't really allow for pausing but avoids copyright issues.

      I agree with you Megan, I think "That Funny Feeling" describes the feeling of uneasiness in the state of the world during 2020 and the lockdown. The lines "Live action Lion King" and "Pepsi Halftime Show" can refer to things that seemed normal to go on during such a hard time for everyone and the "funny feeling" is the sensation of seeing something normal in such a time of abnormality. That we tried to make things seem normal to distract ourselves from what really was going on in the world and when people did that it gave them a "funny feeling". Just my interpretation, I'm probably dead wrong lol.

    • @MeganTheLibrarian3
      @MeganTheLibrarian3 Před 2 lety +1

      @@masoncotelesse7883 Yeah, that and the fact that the "live action" Lion King wasn't even live action; it was still animated. And drones can't HAND- deliver anything. 😄 And I'm sure the fact that EVERYTHING has to have a giant corporation sponsoring it these days (like the Pepsi Halftime Show) probably drives Bo crazy!

      @@MeganTheLibrarian3 Everything is corporately driven nowadays, I think you’re right I bet you Bo hates that fact and he says so by touching on it in this song

    My favorite kind of music is the happiest or grooviest music with the most depressing lyrics, so I totally get dancing to this lol. I think there's a reason he picked the campfire aesthetic and called it "that funny feeling" (which almost always means love). He set that tone and those expectations so that when the weird, surreal, sometimes depressing lyrics hit, we would just be stunned for a minute. It's making the music embody that funny feeling, too.

    Stunning 8K resolution meditation app - meditation is about minimizing noise in your head, presented in full 8k resolution shouldn't exist and doesn't make sense
    In honor of the revolution, it's half off at the gap - companies strip mining the most meaningful human events, a nation willing to bleed for their freedom, just to get some attention for a sale
    Deadpool's self-awareness, loving parents, harmless fun - Deadpool's self-awareness is a topic Burnham has touched on, sharply critical that acknowledging a cynical cash-grab for what it is doesn't exonerate the producers for making cynical cash-grab, fuck em.
    The backlash to the backlash to the thing that's just begun - "All lives matter," need I say more?
    And the song progresses through a list of signs that we're either dropping the ball, or our downfall is already in the rearview. But nothing in this song is awesome.

      i never recognized that "The backlash to the backlash to the thing that's just begun" was talking bout something like all lives matter but it completely makes sense to compare it to that

    "7 more to go"! is in reference to the Climate Clock. Derealization is most likely the disassociative disorder he was diagnosed with when he stepped back from the stage and went behind the screen while he got that help to get better that he spoke of in the monologue in AEOM.
    All of these things are things that do not go together, yet exist, and thus bug him. These are things he has mentioned in interviews over his career. That almost makes this song a gift to his long time fans, bc we did recognize the lyrics for what they were, and laughed along with him in a WTF kinda way...and yes, That Funny Feeling is one when the existential dread of the ending of it all - whether it is by COVID or Climate Change tipping the scales - finally hits you, like it has him and so many of us - and you realize that in many ways, the world has already ended, even tho honey, heaven knows we've already tried to stop it from happening, and he absolved us and invited us Inside with him in AEOM...yes, it all builds upon itself to that wonderful manic episode song...so get yer fkn hands up! Bc hey - what can you say - we were overdue - but it'll be over soon, just wait...

  • @ameliakinsolving4543
    @ameliakinsolving4543 Před 2 lety +15

    So I feel like the funny feeling is existential dread and I also kind of get the vibe that the lyrics are like you’re scrolling through social media and these things kind of come flying at you causing the dread.
    Also 7 years to go is most likely a reference to the climate change clock. Scientists predict we have 7 years before the damage we have done to the planet cannot be repaired. People have said that he references climate change a couple of times in this song.
    “The whole world at your fingertips, the ocean at your door.”… “The quiet comprehending of the ending of it all.”… “We we’re over due but it’ll be over soon. You wait.”

    for me that funny feeling is just a feeling of dread, hopelesness that starts to feel familiar and comfortable, the feeling you get when reading every day about disasters and all but life has desentisited you to it, knowing that we are pretty much doomed what ever we do since humans have fucked everything up and you cant really do anything about it and that nothing will ever be the same again

    “That funny feeling” is the sinking feeling that life is not, and will never again, be the same. Keep in mind this is recorded whilst stuck in his home during the pandemic when all of us were dealing with these feelings of existential dread. It also ties into everything else from the album.

    i really like how much this made you think, and how you interpreted it. but fuck i wish you replayed it once you started to grasp the concept. definitely one of those songs you start to understand in the 2nd or 3rd verse, and the second listen through is mind blowing.
    for me, "that funny feeling" is depression, existential dread, and just watching life happening and society evolving. all while ignoring the fact that we're all going to die, and the human race will someday cease to exist. not hating it, not loving it, just understanding all the weird little controversies. its a funny feeling.
    the line "20,000 years of this, 7 more to go" is about climate change and the deadline most scientists gave us in 2020 to bring our emissions down (2027) before we see the current mass extinction event start to seriously affect humans before 2100 (could be off on this, if i am someone correct me!). in the special, this song leads into "all eyes on me", and if you catch that line "7 more to go", then you hear him sing about anxiety and climate change while saying "the ocean level's rising, like i give a shit" it really hits home.
    i would love a livestream of you watching the entire inside special, maybe on twitch but idk if they allow streams with movies. if they do, definitely let us know!
    anyways, sorry for the little essay, i enjoyed the video lol

    I could be totally wrong, but I think this funny feeling, is like Deja Vu. Like oh crap not this again like Deja Vu I felt this before and it's that funny feeling. Edit, saying oh crap not this again, cause you don't want to feel like you do but you got that feeling like things never change.

    I sorta always thought it was about the insane way our world has evolved and sorta like the commercialization of everything. “That funny feeling” is the small sense of pride or admiration for your country that slowly dwindles away because the true meaning is lost in the commercialization.

    My take on this song is that line about "derealization" is the theme of this song (derealiztion = that funny feeling). Most of this song are things that seem ironic if not completely contradictory or hypocritical. Living life surrounded by and aware of these things can foster a sense of things just not even feeling real anymore. Also that Gohan is way disracting XD
