    I went on a tour of Ayutthaya last year. Was really good to have a tour guide who knew the history of what we were seeing.

    Was there for 3 days in May. Loved the place. Something different and really interesting . Had dinner on the river twice in two amazing restaurants. Temples are superb. Good video mate . Cheers.

    Was there about 20yrs ago for a couple of days.
    There were loads of places hiring bicycles. It was fun cycling around the temples.

    I did a day trip from Bangkok to Ayutthaya. Loved it. Wish I had spent a few nights there. Next time!

    We’re doing Bangkok for a few days on arrival then going “home” to Takhli before heading to Pattaya- so we’ll be having a day in Ayutthaya enroute s this was a very informative video and well timed. Cheers mate. Hope I bump into you in August mate and buy you a beer

    I was in Ayutthaya last December and it was a fun trip. There is quite a bit to see and a lot of history as well.

    Hi Trev, excellent video 😊. If you go click the three lines top left of Google drive then click settings, scroll to the bottom of the settings to data usage and switch off the setting 'transfer files only over WiFi' that should do it

    Trevor, you could have looked on line and read up on the history of Ayutthaya before you travelled there. Basically Ayutthaya was the original capital of the kingdom of Siam and during one of many wars with Burma about 800 years ago it was raised to the ground so the Thai people had to move further south to what eventually became Bangkok. History lesson finished😂

    Love the video, I understand what you mean about seeing all these places but when you are only there for 2 or 3 weeks, it's hard to leave the main, I will leave this until I live there

    I was there in April just before the Songkran holidays, not sure if you're still there but if you are as you come out of your hotel turn right go straight across the road and the is a little street vendor food stall, absolutely gorgeous food to cheap for the portion size but best food I've ever had in Thailand.

    This at its prime was one of the biggest cities until it was attacked and burned to the ground by the Burmese armies. They never rebuilt the city and the remainder of the city is the towers and temples. Great place to visit and see just how big the city was in its heyday.

    My ex comes from Bang Pa-In, about 20 minutes from Ayutthaya. Really loved the area. Hope you get to visit the Kings Palace in Bang Pa-In.

    Stayed same hotel twice love ayutthaya many great tempest and places to visit try the big buddha in po mok a povence in ang thong not to far away some great bars and restaurants turn right from the same hotel have a great time trever

    Was up there on a intrepid tour and seen many temple also the famous face in the tree, But it was short stay would like to go back for a more in depth look. Have to admit the night life has changed and it is a high bar to meet once you have been to Pattaya.

    Stayed in Thailand for 4 years during that time teached and lived in Aytthaya it's good because it's not dead like some parts of Thailand but it also isn't busy or western it's more like the real Thailand.

    I visited many years ago on a day trip from Bangkok. Can't remember the names of the places but those ruins you went past at about 27:22 looked very familiar. Only have photos so hard to remember. Could be on for a return visit but with a tour guide. I hope you find some suitable night life for westerners.

    There’s a water market close by there. It has a crazy doll area where they have these giant anatomical statues that go off when you walk by and giant baby monk dolls. The actual market opens Friday to Sunday. You can feed the fish there too. You can walk the rest of the area though.

    Are you able to use the 5G on your phone to create a private wi-fi hot spot that you can connect your laptop to? Mobile providers in the states charge extra for this, but it could be worth it in your situation

    Bit of a random question about entering temples - as you say take of your shoes but if you are wearing socks are you supposed to remove them also as a mark of respect and go barefoot or is it ok just to remove your shoes and keep your socks on?

    15 baht on the train from Bangkok. There on to Lopburi then Phitsanulok. A decent week away.
    Nakhon Sawan if you fancy.
    Those ruins did nothing for me. The beers on the riverside are far more cultural.

    many times history its interesting and peace and quiet and what real thailand is rather than pattaya which is not real and fantasy. then get the boat back down the Chaoprayr river back to bangers and have a beer and relax. Thats a great trip with your wife mistress hire for the night whatever
