I fully empathise with Kate. I cared for my my wife right up to her last breath who passed away at our home after years of suffering from colon cancer. I did have some assistance from a wonderful nurse, but I had to do most of the heavy lifting (literally speaking) myself. That was two years ago and I am still in grieve and shock. We humans do have amazing and surprising strength in the face of adversity. Love helps..

Incredibly hard being a carer, and it will happen to us all. Appreciate this conversation.
We’re told there’ll be no more lockdowns but many ‘carers’ are in a permanent lockdown, sometimes for years. My wife and I had to ‘care’
for a very sick son, bedbound with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for eight years. And on many occasions were not believed.
My mother looked after my dad with Alzheimers for nearly ten years with not much help and no rest bit, three years later my mother died at 62 deeply missed.
Your Mum was clearly a phenomenal lady. Sorry for your loss of both parents.

Don’t know why Kate don’t stop home and look after Derek.. (as usual it’s all about her poor me…) other people don’t even have all the help she does and they care for there loved ones without all the assistance she gets… fed up of her .. I admire the people that care they give to their loved one.. all she wants is appearing everywhere and getting money even doing a book…stop pretending it’s about Derek …😡😡
Agree. She still at it why not just put up with it or do it quietly. He gone and it's sad but she should look after him as a wife should or leave him in the hand of professional folk like in a care home. It's sad but she still out and about living off him by talking and it's awful thing to do. Had he passed she would would be working and moving on.

Her kids are like 15 and 13. And yes it's a shame others won't get help, but its a dog eat dog World. Got to look after yourself, however you can

What a remarkable lady she is! Imagine being the only person on the planet to have been affected by the pandemic. I do look forward to more (incredibly rare) updates on the situation.

laughable her devotion maybe you haven't be a carer for some one but i have and i can tell you you dont have time to go on the tele especially GMB she wants people to feel sorry for her no going to happen she only cares about herself if she cared she would have stopped hosting GMB and doing interview and care for her husband instead of telling lies about it

Get off the cross Kate we need the wood!! I’m sorry for your husband’s condition I honestly am , but your milking this for every penny you can get it’s so obvious , there are sadly so many women and men caring for their loved ones that don’t have the financial means to cope , infact they actually stay at home and become 24hr carers ! But unfortunately this is the way of the world im afraid , celebrities what ever their type of profession use the “I’m bringing awareness to the situation “ when the reality is for most of them it’s a tragic selfish way of obtaining a platform to basically pat yourself on the back and preach to everyone how great they are and what we all need to be doing ! Reality how narcissistic they are!! They are about as genuine as Del Boys Rolex !! You’ve made your point Kate ages ago!! Or is another book coming? I hope Dereks is doing his best as he can under the circumstances, and I hope you take a long hard look at yourself in all honesty enough is enough take care all

i dont mean to be rude, but sick to death of hearing about this derek draper saga, its been popping up on my internet for approx 2yrs! derek this, derek that, i mean hes famous for being not famous, i hope all the TV hosts dont start bring there other halfs into the spot light, coz its just draining, shout out to all the other souls that are dealing with this situation behind closed doors in private...............
