EXO DESIGN Optima Mid 2022 LWB competition conversion kit has joined it's first race last weekend with other modern-day 4WD buggies. This was the only vintage buggy paticipating the event. CEN buggy tires was the only tire that can be used in the weekend. This was the 2nd time that EXO DESIGN Optima Mid 2022 LWB competition conversion kit use CEN buggy tires, and the car was tested with this tire the day before the race for the optimun setup.
Unfortunately the best setup has not been found and there was still room for the improvement. The slipper nut has released as loose as possible. However, the slipper setup is still too tight. The front of the buggy raises dramatically during acceleration. This may be caused by the slipper pad and furthur investigation is needed. This needs to be addressed in the future. Mistakes are also made during the race as well. However, The buggy flip during the race from time to time. The buggy has complete the race and finished at B2.
It's a joy to see such iconic vintage race on today's track. Hope there will be more classic vintage buggy dashingthrough the raceway!

Modern buggies are so damned fugly with that weirdass angular cab-forward frog-looking body design. Older buggies actually look like something that could be driven.

That's pretty much the car I had back in the day. Mine was an Optima Mid converted to the "Pro" version with the chassis/body upgrade kit. I loved the poly-carbonate undertray and how it kept all the dirt and crud out of the car. I wish I still had it today. Oh well.

That car certainly agile and capable of sticking it to the newer tech cars. Looks very well balanced thru the jumps, and landings! Very quick too!

I used to run an upgraded mid (but in stock class) back in the day, this thing is more than holding it's own with WAY more modern stuff. Testament to how good these were. Any plans to look at the recently released Kyosho Optima Mid 87 WC Worlds Spec - 60th Anniversary Ltd Edition car?
My conversion kit can fit Optima Mid 87` WC too. Maybe you can try it.😊

What are you using for the lower belt cover in the LWB kit? The standard one is a fair bit too short. Thanks, and GREAT video!
Hi Mark, I am using the belt cover attached to the original factory of Optima mid 2022 (please refer to the photo in my store).

It is indeed relatively short. But LWB`s body shell set has a lower cover. And the current venue is very clean. So I think should be no problem! Thank you for watch!

Optima mid...I had one many years ago, sold it to get a CAT XLS, Always preferred the Optima mid though, didn't enjoy the CAT as much. The mid was easier to drive and better looking IMO.
Yah, The Optima mid and Cat XLS are both classic and beautiful models. I like both hahaha.

Any way, what wheel is your optima mid wearing? Is that KYOSHO original model for the optima? But that is 2 inch wheel, so I think it does not fit your tire. (Is the tire 2 inch?) I also use Schumacher 2.2 inch tires same as you. Your wheels are form UK!!. The design is almost same as original turbo optima mid SP wheels , so I think I want to use them if I can buy anywhere. Thank you for your replying massage. I really enjoy your videos.

No, this was purchased with the help of a friend. This is a 2.2-inch wheel frame. It seems to be made by a British player.
Are you using internal spacers inside the AE shocks? They are much longer than the PR springs.
No spacers are used in Shocks. But the spring of PR is indeed shorter than that of ae.
So how are you shortening your shocks?
@@bharris0128 I didn`t shorten the shocks. Just fit the PR spring directly.
@@exorc6837 Seems like they would extend too far, being as the spring is at least 1cm too short. It appears in the pictures that your shock is not the 23/27.5mm length.

Yes. Support the big bore shock absorbers of 1/10 modern buggy.

This is Kyosho turbo optima mid special bodies. It`s long wheelbase. If you want to fit on SWB. You need to change the wheelbase. Thank you .

Were all the other cars on 13.5? The Optima Mid had much more speed on the straight than the other buggies.
