Cello: Celia, it's a name of latin origin meaning heavenly and just sounds kinda classical and pretentious.
Piccolo: Min, it means small, a piccolo is a half-sized flute and that's why it was named "piccolo" which means small in Italian, also min seemed like a plain enough name for her.
Synthesizer: Jacques, nicknamed Jack (of all trades because you can do everything with the synthesizer)
Shamisen: Ryū, it's a Japanese name that means dragon, I just thought it fit him.

@@NoiseDay Thanks! I chose them by thinking of names that would make sense while also sharing the same letter. For example, if I was thinking of a name for a male French Horn character, I would go with the name Francis, since:
A. It shares the same first letter.
B. It makes sense.
I usually go for names that from roughly the same culture as the instrument.

The first three just sound nice and only use the letters from the instrument. The one for the shamisen came from how the first two kanji, 三味, in shamisen, 三味線, sound by their self. 三 is pronounced san and 味 is pronounced aji.

as an orchestra student I got excited when I saw the top half of the cello in the thumbnail, thinking it was a bass, my instrument. I was a bit disappointed to see a cello, as any orchestra student knows that all the instruments have a rivalry. violins are baby basses, violas are toddler basses, cellos are teen basses. it is all lightheaded at the end of the day, and you made an excellent drawing! I’ve been watching you for years and you have been such an inspiration to me. ❤
