Hi, lovely project!
Just one question: wouldn't it be easier to hot-glue some cord around the base and top of the stick, so it would almost fit the holes? Then you don't need so much glue, and more importantly, you don't need so much time, holding it to dry.
Now I'm going to watch another of your projects. Thanks for the inspiration!

Yes, the large roses are from Walmart the smaller red roses are from A.C. Moore.
