    Great video! Cost comparison for both years was nice. Coming in

    Billa is an Austrian brand and expensive. The real veggies and fruits are usually bought from the so called pazars from the locals. Pazars are open markets not so fancy but the products will be much better and not imported. Always avoid restaurants with more "international" names where the food willl be much tastier and cheaper.

    • @TheWanderingHartz
      @TheWanderingHartz  Před 3 měsíci +1

      The fruit and veg are tasty indeed. You can get some from the farmers' market at a good price.
      It all depends on what specific items you're looking for. Western foods are easier to find at Billa and more costly. We like the smaller markets when possible.
      We have an article on our website with few of our personal favorites 😍
      Thanks for sharing.

    I quite enjoyed my weeks in Bangkok for the nomad fest in 2023. I thought it pretty cheap. And food pretty good!

    Very informative 👍 I enjoyed how you broke things down and then compared it to the year before.
    Are you finding that you have created sort of a world tour circuit? 🤔 Or another way to put it, would be a migration pattern.
    Expanding to different cities and exploring more in depth those cities you truly loved as you come back around again. 😊

      Thank you for watching! So far the last 2 years we've come back to the Balkans to explore more and because it fits our budget. So for now we definitely have a pattern of going back to Eastern Europe. We also would love to explore more of Portugal since we really loved our time there.

    • @livingworkingoutsidebox

      @@TheWanderingHartz Thanks. We were thinking of Retiring to Portugal or Italy. But with the current tax laws, it makes more sense to slow travel, like you all are doing.

    • @TheWanderingHartz
      @TheWanderingHartz  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thanks, we are really enjoying slow traveling. We highly recommend slow traveling in the countries you are thinking of settling down in before making the jump.
      Oh we really love Portugal! It is seriously on our list of a possible European base. So far we have only spent a few days in Italy, so not enough to make our list, yet. The whole schengen/visa rules are the biggest obstacle for us.

    It's not exactly about the cost of living....it's more about the quality of life and the way you feel and enjoy and live in a place, how secure you feel for your future. For the last 8 years all the menthioned above are gradually going down and down in my current place London , so it is time to live the UK for good. Thanks for the video

      Thank you for watching and your insights. This is one of the reasons why we like Bulgaria, our quality of life and the way we feel while living there brings us a lot of joy. We hope everyone can find a place that makes them feel happy and secure.

    Split screen? Weird sensation. Perhaps it's the lighting? Stand closer together.
    It's your video. Great information.
    Would love A/C here in Paracas, Peru.
    87°. Feels like 95° 😮

      Glad you liked it. It's not split screen, lol. Probably the orange wall behind us 😉
      87 and no A/C... that's pretty hot. Is there a good breeze or fan?

      The fan just moves the hot, humid air around exchanged with more hot, humid air 😂 Moving to a higher altitude today.

      It was a pretty good plan with worldwide data but not cheap. We are testing out a new option this year 🤞

  • @therehastobesomethingmoore

    Do you have any health insurance for big things like heart disease or cancer ?
    Not certain but don’t think travel insurance covers that, and that is our only concern.

    • @TheWanderingHartz
      @TheWanderingHartz  Před 13 dny

      We carry insurance at home as well. At the moment our we would return to the states as our travel medical insurance that we carry is not a health insurance plan. If we were living full-time in bulgaria on a residence permit we can get a local private policy o the country system as a resident as I understand. Thanks for the great question!

  • @ChefEarthenware
    @ChefEarthenware Před 3 měsíci +1

    Would you please elaborate a little on phone/internet costs? I'm not clear on whether your phone costs include internet access in your apartment.
    I'm quite an unsociable person so I don't use my phone much for calls, but I do require fast, unlimited internet access. How would that work out for me?

    • @TheWanderingHartz
      @TheWanderingHartz  Před 3 měsíci

      Sure, If we are in our apartment we just use the internet that is included in our rent. You can find good internet speeds in Bansko 30mbps or more even at restaurants in town. Co-works in town have really fast internet. but at a cost.
      Our mobile phone service includes 5gigs of high speed international data per month (after 5gigs it slows down to 3g). We can use either our phones or the apartment internet as needed.
      I hope that helps! 😀

    • @ChefEarthenware
      @ChefEarthenware Před 3 měsíci

      @@TheWanderingHartz Thanks. What's the speed of the apartment internet? And is the amount of data capped?

    • @TheWanderingHartz
      @TheWanderingHartz  Před 3 měsíci

      It depends on where you are staying, but we had 30 -100 mbps up and 15 - 30 + up where we were staying in Bansko. Wifi at restaurants were around the 30+ range if i recall. I have no idea if it is data capped. you would have to check with the apartment managers.
