Hi Rion! Well... as long as I can still use the old bills... that's all that matters to me! 😅 I am going to leave each old bill note home, cuz I want to keep it as a memory/keepsake 😊 And by the way??? I can't even remember that last time I saw 31 Flavors around here in Dallas??? It's all different kinds of ice cream stores now! I'll have to try it while I'm Japan! ❤😊

What a fun & fascinating adventure with these new bills! 😆👍 I grew up with “Baskin Robbins,” but my mind was blown when I finally saw the number “31” in “BR” 😂 Amazing ad design that filled the “31” with pictures of the ingredients for each flavor 🤓 My new fav place is Salt & Straw-aside from their regular ones, unique flavors every month, and they have a sign that encourages you to sample every single flavor 😋 Sweet for the indecisive 😉

Glad to see you getting better but not still totally recovering from the summer flew or whatever it was. Please take care, rehydrate enough because it is already a hot summer in spite of a rainy period. Thanks for such an informative video dealing with new note edition. No wonder, that not many vending machines can accept them, for it will be a period of time when both versions will be equally present but after all one day cashless payment will prevale in Japan, too. Ginza-6 roof retreat is really peaceful and comfortable for a long hot summer, especially after one got tired of window shoping along that fancy street. The inside of that department store always with something artistic is also interesting. Thanks for your up to date video showing the current situation with the usage of new bills. It is always hard within the transition period to get accquainted to new things but after a certain period of time everyone get used to it. Take care, stay safe and recover 100% as soon as possible for the long hot summer will be exhausting in spite you like it so much. GAOO...

i don't worry much about the new notes, once they became popular, surely most of the vending machines would accept it. What I worry are the old notes. Once I used an old RMB in China, the Karaoke manager wary that I am going to cheat him, he didn't accept it in the end. Guess you should avoid drinking cold during summer. Heal your cough first. Use hot and warm drink to kill all the germs inside your body.

Thanks for the info about the new bills. I was in Japan in May and interestingly enough, I somehow got a 2000 yen bill. I didn't know that they were official tender, so the first thing I did was to see if I had gotten a counterfeit bill. I learned that they're legitimate bills, but just very rarely distributed.

You may have to wear a mask in large crowds. It's a real bummer to catch a cold in the summertime. Looking forward to your next video. Be well! GAO!

Thanks for the informative video, Rion. I was thinking about trying to get some new bills on day one when they were put into circulation, but in the end I felt too hot to go out.
BTW: The title has a funny syntax, Rion. Unlike Japanese, where the word order can be more or less freely chosen, this doesn’t work well for other languages like English. As a question: “Should You Still Avoid (…)?” As an advice: “You should still avoid (…)”. (I noticed this on other titles as well, e.g. “Hakone Trip Saving Money Tips” -> “(…) Money Saving Tips”. Hope you don’t take this advice wrong. My Japanese skills are still way below your English skills.

Oh, and when recommending IC cards, be sure to mention iPhone owners can load the cards automatically using the Wallet App rather than buying the limited physical IC cards for visitors. Those limited physical tourist (non-Apple Wallet) cards are beautiful, but expire after 4 weeks and tourists lose any money stored on them. iPhone IC cards last forever.

I wish I had 500 yen for every time a person who lives in Japan who has an IC card said this!
Suggestion: Pretend you do not have an IC card and do not speak Japanese and are not in a 'Golden Triangle' city. Now, go and get yourself a 10 year IC card (the one you get a refund with).
    Good luck!
