It's not crazy that they didn't win. In fact, they were the LAST!! Now that's what i call crazy.....
Even crazier is that they would not even have qualified to the final. In both 2008 & 2009 the 9 first songs of each semifinal were decided by the televote and the juries selected a wildcard from the rest of the non-qualifying entries. North Macedonia actually placed 10th with 45 points but the jury selected Finland which placed 12th with 42 points. Only recieving points from 9 countries but 12 points from Iceland.

I can't even recall what the song that won that year was called or what country it was from. This one, however, is still on my iPod after all these years. You were the real winners Finns, fantastic song.

This is a cracking Eurovision track that should have at least finished In the top 10. The studio version is so dramatic, aggressive and energetic. I feel the reason it struggled on stage is that it didn’t transition at all from studio version to a live staged version. The staging lacked energy really badly, relying heavily on two guys spinning flames. It was such an empty performance and it deserved better. Still listen to this over 10 years on!

Almost 2 million viwers means a lot. This song is so great, i still can't belive how it went to last place in ESC... A million points from Portugal ;)
I thought their English accents were perfect - I'm a native English speaker and can't fault them. I was very impressed with how the whole group (including the firedancers) answered questions in perfect English during the interviews. You have a great education system in Finland.

I was 18 years old when I saw my first Eurovision back in Mexico. Since then I became a fan ad the greatest show on Earth. As well I loved this song and it was one of my favorites to win.

I do like this song, but I missed the traditional Finnish Eurovision entry - usually a hardcore rock or metal song. That's what seperated Finland from the other countries the most in my opinion, that they always had such a unique song, always the non-conformist song :)

This is a song which has grown and grown in my memory over the years. Have now discovered the South African cover version in Afrikaans. It's called 'Ek Val Vir Jou' and sung by Monique and Snotdrop. This version is also growing on me. Pity the Eurovision performance didn't match the quality of the song - but certainly deserved more points.

I might just be new to this stuff, but it totally blew my mind when I realized that this song's meaning is about getting away from drugs.
I happened to do an group essay about drugs with my friends, and found a term "420, 4/20, 4:20". It is said that a group of teens calling themselves "The Waldos" invented that term "in connection with a plan to search for an abandoned cannabis crop". (Wikipedia)
Today, 4/20 (4:20 p.m. / 16:20) is a popular time to go smoke weed and show others that you are a part of cannabis culture.
I might be wrong about this song's and drug cultures connection, but it now seems pretty obvious when listening to the lyrics and watching the video.

Lose Control is #6 at MNM50 on the Flemish radio listeners' charts. The song scored the last position in the ESC Grand Final but they will surely have the largest radio and disco play of the all ESC entries this summer. Concratulations Waldo & Cie!
