There was 1 person from the very start who always cared about Naruto. The hero that nobody talks about, Teuchi Ichiraku, the ramen shop owner. He's the only guy in the village who never hated Naruto for a single second, and never had doubts. He always gave him food, even free food.

I just like to headcanon the first time Naruto went to the Ichiraku Ramen shop he just came with his allowance from the 3rd and the guy was like "ugh, fine, just eat this Ramen and go" and then Naruto was like "For real old man!", grins stupidly and proceeds to down the entire bowl and then say "That's the best thing I've ever eaten! Thanks a lot" (with even bigger stupidly big smile) and then the Ramen guy was just thinking to himself "shit, he's a demon fox kid, why is he so endearing" and then proceeds to tell Naruto he can come by anytime he's hungry and Naruto cheers in excitement

There is also a mistranslation for Godparent as there is no such thing in japan, he was actually called himself "naming parent" which is exactly like it sounds. I would say the Inuzuka would make a lot of sense because the knowledge on how to train and care for dogs could be useful to Naruto in controling and gaining mastery over a canine demon within him and I think that argument would be really easy to make to the elders but also with the Inuzuka being a lesser clan it would make them one of the most powerful clans in the village so they could easily be convinced to agree even if they don't like the politics of taking in the boy (though I doubt Kibas mom is much for politics anyways)

If Danzo wasn’t given the authority he was given, the uchiha would’ve stopped kuramas attack with relative ease using their sharingan, gaining the praise and trust of the entire village, and likely Fugaku and Mikoto being his new parents, and being able to protect him and suppress kurama everytime he posed a threat to naruto or the village, similar to how sasuke was able to supress kuramas chakra with a base sharingan, also having elite talent to train around and a brother in sasuke and itachi would’ve served naruto a whole lot of good.

Also I'd like to make the argument if Hiruzen went to Fugaku and explained to the Uchiha the situation on what happened with the 9-tails attack that Danzo was the one making decisions behind his back on not allowing the Uchiha to help with the 9-tails attack, and had given him Naruto to raise alongside his wife Mikoto Uchiha, I think the Uchiha could find the leaf more trustworthy since they've basically been given the most powerful weapon in the Leaf's arsenal to raise as their own clan, and not being trusted and respected by the Leaf was the main reason they were plotting a coup in the first place.

There is absolutely no world in which Hiruzen handing Kohona's only superweapon to the Uchiha doesnt get him a visit from a couple of teenagers in Anbu masks, its was made clear from the very first scene with Danzo that the konohaa advisors favour him, if they were willing to sign of on the murder of an entire clan, weaakening their own village in the process, they would sign off on the assassination of a Hokage. I honestly think Kakashi should have at least been his (Naruto's) protector. Maybe not raising him but being his personal guard and even a friend. Kakashi is one of the strongest ninjas in Konaha, and he has a very personal relationship with Naruto's family. He should have been there for him. It could have been him redeeming himself in failing to protect Minato and Kushina. Protecting their son with every scrap of power he had. Naruto would have made sure that she didn't become an alcoholic and addicted to games and she would have made sure that Naruto got a lot of love and protection. Through Naruto, Tsunade would have had the child, which she never had but certainly wanted with Dan. I think Tsunade would have trained a lot with Naruto and made sure he became strong, as that would give him a much better chance of surviving. She would probably have seen that Naruto has above-average healing abilities thanks to Kurama and perhaps would have taken advantage of this so that he could use better healing jutsu than herself and thus be able to heal others as well as he can heal himself. I wouldn't be surprised that she would also process her trauma because she would know Naruto doesn't die as easily as others thanks to the fox in him. Back then it wasn't redcon that the fox would live on if Naruto died. It was always said that when Naruto dies, the fox in him also dies. That's why the fox did everything he could to ensure Naruto ultimately survived.

"As leader of the Uchiha, Fugaku was focused on the clan's interest and welfare and had a strong sense of responsibility.[1] His son, Sasuke, saw him as a stern and uncaring man while he was seen as a father-figure to the rest of the clan. As Itachi was his successor as head of the clan, Fugaku spent much of his time focusing on the development of his eldest and little time with his youngest. Sasuke trained constantly in order to get his father's attention and approval. Near the end of his life, Fugaku had switched his attention to Sasuke, having lost hope in the wayward Itachi. He was only impressed by great feats and rarely praised anyone, having high expectations. Fugaku was very serious, hardly smiling most of the time. To which, he showed noticeable distaste to Itachi when he would shirk his duties like attending meetings and missions.
While outwardly Fugaku seemed strict and neglectful towards his eldest and youngest sons respectively, coupled with his devotion and focus of his clan's welfare led him to seem hateful and non-negotiable, he was still a very caring individual to his sons.[8] According to Mikoto, when she and Fugaku were alone, Fugaku would mostly, if not only, talk about Sasuke. While always trying to motivate Sasuke to improve, he failed to see Sasuke's desire to be acknowledged as his son rather than compared to Itachi. He loved both his sons so dearly that when he saw Itachi slaughter their clan, he gave Itachi a chance for an explanation. After realising he was doing this to safeguard Sasuke's life, rather than resisting death as he did not want to hurt his eldest son, he and his wife willingly allowed Itachi to execute them in exchange for securing Sasuke's future and merely asking Itachi to take care of his youngest child. Fugaku also demonstrated great remorse for the turn Itachi's life had taken, blaming himself for the pain Itachi had to endure after reflecting that Itachi could have been the first Uchiha Hokage, sadly admitting his burdening Itachi with the Uchiha Clan's mission had stolen his son's future from him.[9]
In the anime, Fugaku inherited much of the Will of Fire. He was also much wiser and more patient than his clan, genuinely wanting to preserve peace in Konoha, going along with the relocation despite the Uchiha Clan's protests to help quell Konoha's suspicion of them over time. He even went as far as to instruct his fellow clan members to leave Kakashi alone, who had been recently implanted with a Sharingan from Obito, wishing to honour Obito's "dying" decision despite Kakashi not being of Uchiha descent He also asked Hiruzen to name his second son after Hiruzen's father. However, as his clan continued to grow angrier and more restless from their persecution, Fugaku eventually conceded to his clan's desire for revolution. Still, he expressed his dismay at causing the bloodshed of civilians, hoping to end it quickly and with as little harm as possible. He even chose to keep his Mangekyō Sharingan a secret from his clan in fear that it would drive them to seek greater power through immoral means.

To be fair, the Mikoto thing could still work. Minato just would need to say "look after my son. by the way, a masked man with a sharingan did this. He isn't from here. I'm sure of that. Be on guard."
And I never thought they'd use him. I subscribe to the idea that Naruto's positive influence would work wonders on Fugaku. And with Hiruzen mentioning at least to the clan heads and village elders that it was a mysterious man Minato warned him about, blame passes away from the Uchiha. Less distrust, they'd be more inclined to be part of the village. With this mystery target having one of their eyes, they would be all the more eager to prove their loyalty and protect the newly adopted child of Fugaku and Mikoto.
And Naruto being the positive influence he is could help Itachi with his burden of darkess as well. Genuinely, his light and positivity tempered by manners taught as a son of the clan head (adopted or not) I believe would help to benefit the entire clan.
The coup only would have happened from many years of distrust, pushing the Uchiha to the edge and ostracizing the whole clan based on assumptions that any mind walker could attest to their innocence.

it was the Sarutobi clan, nick mentioned that here in the video. when Hiruzen was doing hokage things he left naruto with the sarutobi clan to be looked after this means Naruto was quite familiar with Asuma an possibly an infant konohamaru while he was growing up.
as to the reason Hiruzen pulled him out of the clan was sheerly due to Danzo, he knew Danzo was going to make a it into a huge deal an try to oust him from the seat of hokage which was not a great idea while the village was trying to recover from the nine-tailed fox attack. but also Hiruzen didn't want a huge target too be put on naruto's head if the neighboring lands had discovered the hokage was keeping the jinchuriki of 9 tails under their house they would seize that opportunity to try an attack hiruzen an abduct naruto.

Honestly, the blame ultimately falls to Hiruzen. This isn't because of Minato's request but because he was Hokage, and Naruto was arguably the greatest asset Kohona held.
No, clan could have him as that could upset the internal balance of power between them. Ideally, he should have been assigned a trusted minder(s) and likely a rotating guard as he would have been a high priority assassination or kidnapping target.
Early years (likely to around age 5) you would have some form of stability before getting him into the academy. He should have had some form of support network to fall back on, and I assume something like dormitories for orphan students should have existed in the academy.
His education should have been fair. He also should have had some person/group to be able to ask for help. He should have graduated on his first attempt and then had more guidance initially as a genin, as again, he was the greatest military asset for the village. He would have been a very different boy then.

    • @RFDN0
      @RFDN0 Před 22 dny

@uncommon_name9337 There are likely countless more orphans in Kohona from Shinobi parents in just Naruto's and Sasuke's year than you have listed.that wasn't my point though. Upon having the Kyuubi sealed in Naruto, he became arguably the most valuable asset for the village.
He should have been treated neutrally at worst and had some form of basic support network that other shinobi orphans should have had. The handling of both Naruto and Sasuke after they became orphans was a failure. The same can be said of what we know of Kakashi's childhood before service.
The bare minimum should have been some form of group housing for orphans in the academy with some form of supervision. This could have just been like military barracks with newly promoted genin acting as the "room leaders" able to help others and done low-level D-rank missions with the academy students to gain leadership experience.

This is why Hiruzen struggled I think to face naruto as a kid and seemed to deal with him quickly and then take his leave, their conversation in narutos room also shows that hiruzen is deeply effected from that night still.

I think another aspect of Hiruzen to look over is that, out of all the Hokage, Hiruzen ruled the longest. Hashirama ruled for maybe 10-20 years, Tobirama ruled for a couple years at the most, and Minato ruled for 2 years. Hiruzen in the meantime ruled for well over 50 years in total, meaning that--due to the law of averages--he was the one who had the most time to make the most mistakes as a leader. Not to excuse the frankly atrocious things he's done, but I do believe that our opinions of the 4 Hokage are stemmed from the fact that Minato and Tobirama just didn't have enough time to establish as horrid of a legacy as Hiruzen. And that's saying a LOT for Tobirama.

In their eyes, Naruto was not a child- he WAS the Demon Fox, and they couldn’t really see him as anything else through their grief and anger. Once they finally started thinking of him like a person, many of them felt quite guilty for treating him that way, but you see this exact mindset from the guy who attacked Naruto in the first episode, Mizuki. Indeed, even Iruka was guilty of this until Hiruzen basically forced him to interact with Naruto as a teacher. That’s effectively the plot of the first episode of Naruto, although we don’t get Iruka’s perspective on it until I think a flashback in Shippuden.

Poor people are looked at like they're less than some times depending on where you live.

How nice of a story element it could’ve been if there was a neighbor who tried to avoid Naruto, but they kept having to bump into him and, against their best attempts, slowly found themselves to actually have concern and look out for him here and there. A reluctant guardian who couldn’t resist the need to ensure that Naruto was at least surviving, without our it being a home visit while he was out of his apartment, like we’ve seen the Third and even Kakashi do. What might’ve been better was if this reluctant neighbor and eventual guardian was a part of Iruka’s storyline as well. I might’ve cried an ocean at any point the story wanted to delve into their relationship more.

The only reason why Naruto as the 7th has so much workload is only in his disability to manage things. He sooo lacks in management department, that the man who should have helped him to decrease the amount of work and stress on his shoulders (the legendary 100500IQ genius, legendary tactician, 8th hokage and a boy who really did nothing) Shikamaru had only made his job worse.
I cant even describe how these duo isnt even close to be political or strategical leaders of a military state. Hell I cant even see any of them as a chief administrator in the Wendy's next door. Huuuuh(

Thank you!! Finally someone who gets it!
Someone that agrees with me. Mikoto was the best choice. Also cause having Naruto raised among Uchihas was basically perfect given the ability of Sharingan and Kurama are linked and eventually whoever was strong enough to awaken the magekyo was also theoretically capable of holding obey Kurama.

I'll repeat myself: the man decided to gave the child the surname of THE ONLY CLAN that has HISTORICALLY caused so much fear that 4 ENTIRE ninja villages decided to masacre them out of face of the earth ._. if thats not bad parenting, idk what is!!

Minato didn't exactly have a lot of choices to gift that responsibility to in the moment. But, we also know the third wasn't exactly a good father to his own kids, and he'll, wasn't exactly a good grandfather either.
I've always assumed hiruzen did more to keep danzon away from Naruto and he deserves a lot of credit that he doesn't get

Considering how little Naruto was involved in the first 13 years of Boruto's life, which was during an era of peace mind you, I think Hiruzen should be forgiven for not being able to devote much time for Naruto. He gave him his parent's apartment, spending money every single month, treated him with kindness and respect everytime they're shown interacting especially in the fillers... what more can you expect from what is essentially the president of your entire nation? He can't spend every single day hanging out with one particular orphan just because the orphan's father happened to be what is essentially royalty. That'd be special treatment and Naruto wouldn't be a compelling story if he was that coddled. People like Jiraiya and to an extent Kakashi should have the finger pointed at them just as much if not more so. Sure Kakashi was dealing with depression and was an active duty elite soldier most likely being sent out on all the missions of the upmost importance... but what was Jiraiya doing? Being a bum essentially. Hiruzen doesn't deserve nearly as much hate as he gets and I don't even particularly like the character.

I would love for you to do the meme about the one kid that has the Uchiha symbol on his/her back because I can't tell if that is supposed to be a boy or a girl and if it is a girl Sasuke he would probably have taken her as his wife and that would be a interesting what if a second Uchiha survived.
Of course meme is Kakashi telling Itachi that he missed one.

Looking back with hindsight 20/20, the whole debate about Hiruzen raising Naruto badly was just Kishimoto didn’t plan out the future plot point properly
I’m 99% certain that while writing part 1 Kishimoto likely didn’t have the connection between Naruto and Minato in mind yet. So back then Naruto was probably meant to be an unlucky kid of some random ninja couple. Hiruzen had little responsibility and his appearances in Naruto’s childhood were meant to show how good he was that he care for a random orphaned kid when no one else did
But later we have Minato and Kushina, and suddenly Hiruzen look bad because he promised to take care of Naruto.
Hiruzen went from a kind leader who helped an unrelated orphan kid out of goodwill to a neglectful guardian who forgot his promise

Honestly, I think Naruto is a good example of the old saying "It takes a Village to raise a child".
For better or worse, Naruto wasn't raised solely by any one person; it was the Village of Konoha that raised him and helped to shape him into the man he is today.
I think he always recognized that, which is why he always fought so hard to protect his village, to bring Sasuke back to the village, and why he always wanted to lead his people. He always saw Konoha as his family, it just took Konoha a bit longer to embrace him back.
I think it's poetic that the boy who was raised by his village is now the one who leads it ❤
