Active sounds clearer. However the weak spot of all the Harley Benton guitars aside from quality control is the Roswell pickups. It’s the main thing people change ASAP
Very true Horrible QC and the Roswell pickups are pretty much a "fancy name" given to cheap pickups. Preferred the Wilkinsons. What i tend to do is look for B-stock HB´s with a good discount, if they send me a lemon i refuse it, if i get a good one with a minor cosmetic flaw the price difference between "A-stock" and a b-stock buys me an SD or Dimarzio bridge PU ;) at the moment they have a batch of b-stock Sc-customs for 162€ which is a good discount (buys the PU!)

(3 years after) I actually prefer the Roswell pick-ups over the EMG ones. Harley Benton currently offers the same guitar in three editions of pick-ups: passive, Roswell active and EMG active. Their product pages (at both Harley Benton and Thomann) offer audio clips, including the same licks. In my opinion (so yours may well differ), the active pick-ups provide a "more focused" sound. Maybe EMG more so than Roswell, but I hear more "mud" in the deep of the EMG than of the Roswell - and definitely nothing to justify the price difference to me. [another opinion]

I have the active pick up version and I love it. I have it hooked up to a joyo zombie and HB vintage 30 2x12 cabinet. Extreme metal 🤘🏽😂

For me, active pickups have less charm than passive ones! And I have a custom sc that I love to death

Just got my passive one this week. Definitely impressed for the price point.
They are sold out of the passive version of this. But there is a new silver face version. I'm gonna get it.
Quick question, do you live in the us? If so, how long did it take to get to there because mines been in customs for like 3 fucking months.

I'll never understand how you guys make such great guitars so affordable but I appreciate it. I got one of your Fusion Ts (the green one) and it's quickly becoming my favorite HH guitar. Might grab one of your single coil style teles and see if I like it better than my Squiers or Fender lol.

Just wondering, can you just replace these Roswells with some EMGs or Blackouts, i.e. just plug them in without modifying any of the wiring or the electronics?
Nope, EMG use fancy solderless connectors, while Roswell solder the wiring like barbarians(

Why do you do not use a Harley Benton amp?
In my opinion, that would be a great combination to see if budget hardware also sounds good together. Taking an expensive amp with such a budget guitar is almost like cheating.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against budget guitars and Harley Benton in particular has improved a lot in recent years
Well that's simple. Most people are familiar with a Marshall or a Fender :)
do you belive a expensive guitar sounds good in a crap amp?, the harley benton guitar deserve a good sounding amp as all other guitars... cause its a good guitar, its not cheating at all, bentons are 1/3 of the price but 2/3 the guitar compared to much more expencive guitars :)

I like this guitar but it's a shame that they decided to change the shape of the body and now it's wider than the one produced 2 years ago like the one shown in this video (which was the closest thing to an original esp ltd) even the way where the pickup selector goes is larger and a bit deformed, I hope they return to the original shape of the esp / ltd

I need to know what's the difference between this guitar and the new SC-CUSTOM EMG FR VBK, because that guitar is more expensive and I think has the same specs, I really need to know what's the difference, the only difference I could find was the obvious one which is the color of the golden pickups and the knobs and the other golden parts on it like the whammy and the other stuff, these are the only differences I could find, the SC-CUSTOM FR is more vintage looking on the golden colored parts, that's it, please I need to know the differences, can somebody help? Because I don't know which one to buy

SC-Custom II Active Vintage Black...definitely awesome! ...after I need to: replace pickup, replace toggle switch, shielding it, replace tune o matic, replace string, replace pot with 25kOhm pot for ACTIVE PICKUPS (you put 500kOhm pot on active system...funny!), after replace all wiring cable.... now they sounds good! ;-)

Harley Benton guitars are the worst guitars I have ever played. Lots of quality issues and outright damage (not shipping damage) to new guitars. Thomann doesn't care, they just keep on pumping out faulty goods and sponsor youtubers to shill them (lie to people).

Whyyyyyy ????????........ 😒😒 and...why no straplock in custom II? maybe 70/80cent is too high investment? ...i think i will send it back...really disappointed...very ugly finiture...bad painting...issue with toggle switch...500k pots on active... no no no....
