changing my NG tube for the FIRST TIME at home

hello! this week my NG tube clogged super bad and I had to replace it (twice actually). this was my first time attempting this at home without a nurse so it was kinda scary. so hope you enjoy :)

I have had tubes for most of my life, they use coke to break clogs sometimes, and meat tenderizer is what my surgeon had me try before we had to get the crazy enzymes. You put in warm water and it will eat through a lot of clots,

This video was ages ago but I want to know how to pass through the resistance . I feel like I’ve tried every tip out there and would rather manage it myself than bother a nurse … please help 😢and well done !

Smaller syringes help unclog tubes. I use 1mL ones for when it is really bad, but most of the time I use 10mL ones

It sucks when tubes clog! Maybe you need to flush the tube more often?

I have had an NJ for years. Went in for GJ surgery. The whole video bothers me that they kept tape on it to keep measurement and not sharpie.. also the tape you’re using. It’s better to use the duoderm & Tegaderm like you did at the end lol
